A word from Riffle NW
Riffle NW is a catch-inspired seafood restaurant in Portland’s Pearl District, where guests enjoy dishes influenced by cooking from coastal regions around the world. While the "catch" is always celebrated, Riffle's menu also has several non-seafood options.

Thoughtfully sourced and skillfully prepared, the food and drink is served wherever you want to be: at the bar, at the chef's table, at the raw bar, in the dining room or in the private dining space.

The restaurant is the vision of Ken and Jennifer Norris, two chefs who believe in the philosophy of "one house," in which the kitchen, bar, and dining room all work seamlessly to create delicious food and drink served with warmth, grace, and skill. Working with Ken and Jennifer are a team of masters at their craft -- Joey Cefalu, Brandon Josie and Dana Frank.

The whole Riffle crew looks forward to taking care of you soon for lunch and dinner!

I've been to Riffle NW a number of times now and they are consistently amazing! They never let us down. They are one of the best three seafood places in PDX and the best on the west side. I always take visitors from out of town there and they are always wowed with the amazing food and great atmosphere.

This was on my husband's list of places he wanted to dine at so we went on his birthday. We love fish and there aren't many fish restaurants in Portland. My husband is a foodie and he really enjoyed his meal--the oysters on the half shell were excellent, as was the salmon mousse. He had rockfish cheeks which he thought were a bit overcooked. I can't recall the name of the fish I had but it was presented whole, grilled with a salty, briny skin and the fish was wonderful, cooked just right, and great flavor. We arent' dessert people so we passed on that course.

Had a craving for oysters. This place had a menu more expensive than other oyster bars but we liked the menu better. We walked up and they handed us a fresh oyster for free as we approached. Things just got better. Great cocktails and amazing food.

I had the sea bass, which was described by our waitress as a flaky white fish, when in fact it was more like a halibut steak. I would have ordered something different (like the halibut) had I known that. It was not seasoned at all and a little too charred. My husband's scallops and rissoto were much much better. Overall, it is still an improvement from 50 Plates.

I brought my husband here for his birthday on a weeknight. The food was fabulous & a great balance between classic and unique. The prices are very affordable for the quality of the food as well as presentation. Everything was very tasty, we ordered 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert - we were satisfied but his dish did not some with a side but mine did. The portion sizes are perfect, but you may want to double check whether your entree comes with a side or not (there are sides to order if you like). The staff was all super professional and friendly; we felt well taken care of, welcomed, and they made some great suggestions. We will definitely be going back - and not just for special days!

Do not go unless you want their menu exactly as written. If you have dietary restrictions , forget it. You will leave hungry. Portions are small, so a starter or side is important. Our waiter said that everything was cooked in butter, so too bad if you can not eat butter. A simple salad was not available. But, after " pulling strings" a small plate of lettuce appeared for $9.00. It is a shame, because what I could eat was good, but the attitude needs to change if they want to survive. How much effort would it have taken to be a good sport and make a decent salad. But, the rules say take it or leave it. So leave it I will. But I hear they have very tasty fried fish bones.

We love Riffle and go here for very special occasions or when visitors are here from out of state. Usually the noise level is "acceptable" for an energetic and vibrant restaurant but on this occasion, there was a very loud table of six right next to us. It will not deter us from going here again but since this was our anniversary, we were hoping for a little less yelling and laughing and perhaps some romance. Definitely not romantic due to the noise but still a great experience (as always). We'll just plan on going somewhere else when we want a quieter evening. The food is always spot on excellent - Love Riffle!!

I had dinner there a few days ago with a friend on a quiet Sunday evening. The food was excellent, especially the octopus appetizer. Prices seem a bit high for the cocktails and starters, main dish prices were reasonable. Definitely worth another visit or two to test their consistency.

So we went to Riffle with the intention of ordering their Portland Dining Month menu. We dined late & they informed us they were out of the special. We expressed our disappointment since it was what brought us to Riffle & the kitchen agreed then to accommodate us with a substitute menu. Loved sitting in the cool booths by the window and able to look out & appreciate the energy of NW. The Mojito was excellent and other drinks coming from the bar appeared luscious. Overall it was a very nice evening out at another local gem of a restaurant. Thank you Riffle!

The octopus with chorizo sauce is the best and most innovative I've eaten. My husband oredered the haibut cheeks. I had the dining month special. The pork belly was good but one prawn that really should be called a large shrimp?! Great presentation but amount of food leaves something to be deired for the price. we did have good service but it's not a place I'd go back soon.

This restaurant had solid seafood choices. The salmon tartar was very good and the halibut cheeks was also very good in a delicious saffron sauce. But we came there for restaurant month and they only had one choice and their menu choice was not representative of what their restaurant did, so we were pretty disappointed. Service was very slow. However the waitress was nice and had good opinions and when the kitchen was out of things we ordered the owner and chef apologized, which meant a lot to us.

Enjoyed the great selection of seafood. Black cod, monkfish, salmon, halibut cheeks scallops. Monk fish was nicely prepared having been wrapped in bacon; Moist and flavorful. Everything was seasoned nicely. Vegis were a little over cooked. Recommend the side dish of polenta and the strawberry and ricotta salad. Lovely waitress could have paid closer attention to removing empty glasses and plates from the table.

Really enjoyed dinner at Riffle the other evening. Fun location, great ambiance, great cocktail and wine list. We ordered the fresh ricotta as an appetizer (yumm) and I had the halibut cheeks which were great, and my friend had the halibut, which was presented in a bowl with some broth. I only give three stars as her meal came out lukewarm at best, and the knife and fork kept sliding into the bowl of broth everytime she perched them. The cutlery being not well thought out with your serving dish is almost forgivable, but lukewarm food, on a non busy night is not. I'd go back, but possibly for lunch vs dinner.

Had high hopes, sadly they were not met. Getting sat for our 9:15 reservation was awkward. 3 people intervened in process sending us back to the bar twice to wait. We had a reservation, which made it all the weirder. Finally started our meal, later than we expected, which resulted in us being the last table in the restaurant. Expected easy service, since missing the rush but everything took forever and the food was only OK. Salmon tartare was the highlight & it tasted so much like capers/seasoning that we couldn't appreciate the salmon. It could have been beef tartare for all the flavor it lended. Main course good not great. Dessert nearly inedible- laughable preparation. To cap it off, staff loudly debriefed their night while we finished.

We went there to see what they had for "Portland Dining Month". We showed up on time for our 7pm reservation but had to wait for 10 minutes to be seated (even though there were at least 4 empty tables). My wife ordered the 3 course meal for $29. While you can't expect the world for $29, we were disappointed with the entree. It included a small cut of pork belly and a single shrimp. That's right - ONE single solitary shrimp. At least the starter salad was generous. We had 3 people in our party, we each had a different entree and we all agreed that we didn't need to come back. We didn't have a horrible experience. It was however, very underwhelming. I wouldn't recommend Riffle NW to friends - in fact, I'd encourage them to dine elsewhere.

We had the $29 3-course menu for Portland Dining Month. Everything was delicious. Our only wish for the entree would have been more prawns (there was one beautifully grilled prawn on the plate) and a smaller portion of pork belly. The belly was served as a main protein, not mixed with other foods. While it was beautifully prepared, the cut is so fatty that a little goes a long way.

My friend and I had a fantastic dinner at Riffle NW. My friend had the salmon and I had the halibut cheeks both of which were excellent. We went on Memorial Day weekend and the restaurant was not very crowded although we had dinner at 5:30pm. The service was outstanding although as I mentioned there were not that many people in the restaurant. The prices were very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food. The deserts were OK, not really on the same level as the entree choices. I would definitely recommend.

food was tasty, but do not have the octopus. While I admit it is a gutsy thing to put on a menu and gutsier to risk ordering.... simply too tough. Service was a bit slow for our group - which included a 2 year old but it was 7PM on a Friday evening. Seems like they are still working out kinks a bit but the fish was all tasty and the menu creations interesting so well worth a visit. Desserts were delicious.
