  • "Fresh, well made, delicious... Basically THE BEST. One of the best places to eat in athens. A different kind of atmosphere that is still very welcoming. Almost feels like someone invited you into their home for great food/hospitality"

  • "Rickshaw Thai is incredibly good Thai food. In fact, the best I've ever had. It's authentic and consistent. It's fantastic every time! Stop what you're doing and make a reservation now."

  • "Rickshaw Thai is a rare find in southeastern Ohio. Flavorful, sensitively seasoned food, a pleasant ambiance, and professional service are waiting for you at this restaurant. The Green Curry pork is one of my favorites, but they have plenty of tasty vegetarian and vegan offerings. Now, if you're looking for Authentic Thai food, such as one might get in Thailand, New York, or San Francisco, you will be disappointed. This is "Athens" Thai food: a little hippie, spicy, rich, and delicious."

  • "It was a lovely experience on the whole. We liked the food but more Thai food such as Tom Yum soup etc would be good. Also more light or candle light will add to the elegance. Too many tables made the ambience dull. But it certainly was a getaway from regular town food. Liked the options for Vegan or Gluten free choices."

  • "All three in my party had Pad Thai. It was wonderful. The portions were huge. The price was reasonable. We look forward to dinging at Rickshaw again. Rickshaw is only a few minutes from downtown Athens. Being in a small former company house , it is intimate and homey. The staff was very friendly and helpful."

  • "Extremely fresh. Very friendly waitstaff. Am going again for sure."

  • "The food has so much flavor, which is something I look for in a good restaurant. The laab cabbage wraps and fish cakes are so fresh and have such a great taste. The pad Thai is a dream! It's a great location for this gem, I hope it continues to grow because it's one, if not the best, restaurants in the Athens area. Consistently great!"

  • "Wonderful, helpful, and very friendly service. We had a great evening! The food was spectacular, and we very much appreciated the user-friendliness of the menu and it's allergen/spiciness index. Jason (the chef) even came out and said hi and asked how our meal was and chatted for a bit. A very fun, personable, and simultaneously elegant restaurant with a nice intimate atmosphere and the best Thai food I've ever had!"

  • "The food was amazing and some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten (and I've eaten good Thai food). The service was so friendly (very Athens-esque) and I'm craving it for next time."

  • "Our first time with friends was a wonderful experience, the service was excellent (she gave us good advice on specials and level of hotness), setting is small and no ac were the only concerns, but the night we were there was very comfortable. It is bring your own for those who want wine or beer with their meal. We will return no doubt, since not many Thai options in our area."

  • "We decided to try something different and are very glad we found Rickshaw Thai! Chef Jason and staff made us feel welcome, answered questions and gave good advice for selecting from the menu. It was a very enjoyable experience, and we will be returning!"

  • "Really happy to have this place in the Athens area! Fantastic food, unique, cooked to order, fresh ingredients. My first choice restaurant!"

  • "Rickshaw is AMAZING! The best Thai food I've ever had, even when compared to large metropolitain areas. My mother, who doesn't enjoy an Asian dish other than fried rice, loved her pad thai and can't wait to go again. As someone with a gluten allergy, the allergy list is great and all the curry dishes are gluten free! If I could recommend any dish, it would be any curry dish with the pork, its to die for!"

  • "We got the spring rolls, fish cakes, Pad Thai, green curry, and massaman curry with peanut sauce and all were super delicious! Can't beat the location, either!"

  • "Great food with several vegan options. I plan to bring family from out-of-state to dinner!"

  • "Loved it! This was our first time eating there & we will definitely return! Very small but very cool. Food was absolutely outstanding. Portions are big- I ended up taking home half of mine. Get dessert- awesome Fluff goodies with a side of real whipped cream. "

  • "This was the restaurant I thought of immediately when I was planning a night out. My brother and I agree that the food and service were wonderful -- spicy, exotic, well-cooked dishes that were served by a friendly and knowledgeable waitress. When we first arrived at 5:30 p.m., the environment was fairly quiet with relatively few other patrons being seated. By the time that we were served our main course, however, the music from the nearby kitchen seemed loud and intrusive. I found myself distracted from the dining experience by the bright light, noise of other patrons, and the smoky air. I would recommend improving the ventilation, lowering the kitchen music, and adding some sound-absorbing materials in the dining area."

  • "Nice to have a new food option in this area. It's a very intimate restaurant with limited space, but with excellent service. Tables are close together, which can result in a noisy environment if the people seated next to you are loud."

  • "I most recently took my family to dinner at Rickshaw Thai for Mother's Day. A deliciously good time was had by all! Chef Jason was graciously able to alter my meal (Pad Thai--my favorite) for my dietary restrictions--thank you. We love ordering appetizers to share like the Spring Rolls and Laab Cabbage Wraps. The entrees are generous and I usually have leftovers for lunch the next day. :) And on this particular night, I ordered one of every dessert to go home with my dear mother. The excellent desserts come from the owners' other restaurant, Fluff Bakery. Highly recommend both restaurants!"

  • "Perhaps one of the best meals I've ever had in Athens. Ambience was perfect, service fantastic and the food was phenomenal. We had the fish cakes for starters (HIGHLY recommend) then a curry dish and Pad Thai for dinner. Everything was cooked to perfection. It was also our server's first night working, and she was wonderful! "

  • "First the food - the first course was wonderful! the second course curry was well prepared, although my husband asked for #3 spicy and I asked for #5, and his food was spicier than mine, which was uncomfortable for him (We generally eat very spicy food, so we are not wimps about this). The curry was not attractively served, although the appetizers were very attractive. Diners need to bring their own alcohol. But the serious drawback was the dining experience. The tables are very close to each other, and the party of 4 at the next table was loud, non stop, and literally inches away from our table. I just think that expensive, well prepared food should be served with the same kind of space that a beautiful painting is given at a museum."

  • "I wasn't sure exactly what to think of a Thai restaurant set up in a house in The Plains, OH that's only open Fri and Sat for dinner by reservation...I mean, this could have spelled disaster. My experience was anything but! The food is AMAZING and the atmosphere is very quaint. It feels like you've found a secret hotspot for foodies in this small town. Totally unexpected and very exciting find! My fiance and I have been two weeks in a row since we found this place and we intend to make it a regular in our rotation. The spring rolls are delish and come with 3 sauces - I would eat a stick if it was coated in their peanut sauce! The pad thai is another favorite so far. The people who work there are great - very friendly. Absolutely recommend!"

  • "We sat on the porch on a lovely Saturday evening. Brought our own bottle of WS top 100 wine (no corkage fee). Started with spring rolls (3 luscious dipping sauces), then tom kha gai soup (very flavorful but not too spicy). Entrees were plaintain shrimp curry and peanut massaman curry. Authentic Thai spiciness -- my wife ordered a 5 and got a 5! Servers very attentive and chef visited our table. Great place -- we can't wait to go back and sample more dishes."

  • "Not large party friendly. System will not allow reservations for a large number of people (I think more than 10) and when you reserve individual tables there is no guarantee that you will be seated in the same room near one another. Other than that, the food is excellent and I will return, just with a smaller group of people."

  • "Hands down the best Thai food in Athens. Food is perfectly spicy (and they will adjust the heat level for you if you're more or less tolerant) and incredibly delicious. They have a great selection of gluten-free food. The cilantro chicken is a particular favorite of mine. Jess and Jason (the owners) are almost always on hand (Jason cooks, Jess makes the rounds). They're always super friendly and help make the whole experience awesome."

  • "This is a REAL find just on the outskirts of Athens. Easy to reach, amazing friendly and personal service . but above all, the flavor of the food just amazes your tastebuds! you get full flavored thai food with fresh taste, you can adjust the level of heat. Bring your own wine, No corkage fee! You can Eat your way though the Menu! the chef is readily available if you wan to talk food! be sure to make a reservation!"

  • "Wether you are just on a couple's night out or arriving with a small party, I highly recommend Rickshaw Thai. The food is very unique in this region of Southeast Ohio and the friendly couple who run the business are passionate and genuine. Prices are great for the quality of food and the service staff is outstanding. What an Athen's gem!!!"

  • "We were told that if they were really busy that the waitperson could not split up the check into separate bills, but they were able to this time which I appreciate. I wonder why the Naan is not included with the meal."
