Diner Reviews
  • "I was disappointed with my tilapia. It almost seemed as though it was a pre - breaded filet from the freezer. It just didn't seem any fresher than I could make at home. I still love the location and atmosphere. Will probably go just for drinks and appetizers. "

  • "we went on a thursday night around 8pm for dinner. they were pretty slow. but that didnt seem to effect the service or the quality of the food. once again we had Nathan he is a very pleasant person and made sure our drinks are full at all times. always asks if we want an appetizer or a beverage from the bar. we had shrimp cocktail for starters, my husband had the ny strip yum, and i had a wedge salad, and oysters rockerfellers those are sooo good. we meet the new manager Mike he too is a very nice guy. love this place cant wait for the patio to open"

  • "My only complaint was the heat in the restaurant. The food was great, the service was excellent, the restaurant was clean and has a great view of Eagle Creek Reservoir, but the air was not on nor were the windows open. Hope they get this corrected soon."

  • "My wife and I are new to the Indy area and based on some recommendations from co-workers she selected Rick's Boatyard as the place she wanted to go for her birthday dinner. The day wasn't quite nice enough to sit out on the deck but the view of the reservoir was still very nice from inside. The wait staff was helpful and the atmosphere was great. I ordered the Florida Red Grouper with Shrimp Etouffee over rice and it was delicious. My wife ended up going with the Chicken Parmesian. It must have been good because she actually ate the leftovers and she never eats leftovers!! We are looking forward to bringing her parents here the next time they visit."

  • "The food and service once seated were really good. It was uspetting however to have a 7:00 reservation for two and not be seated until close to 7:30. We checked in at 6:55 and it seemed we were waiting with the walk-ins to get a table. The point of making a reservation was to avoid this situation."

  • "Rick's is that place that every city should have! Off the beaten path, life can slow down and traffic can lighten up. Rick's has a great staff to serve you, live music to entertain you and great food and drinks to please you. If you haven't already found Rick's, look it up and make it a "must do" the next time you are in Indianapolis."

  • "For the first time going to this restaurant my husband and I really enjoyed it. The ambience is great, the view, and especially the food for a great price. I truly recommend it! I'm looking forward to my next visit."

  • "The food was outstanding! Our server was helpful and gave great suggestions. My husband and I were surprised to see little children that were quite noisy, but that isn't the fault of the restaurant...they tried to entertain the little buggers and keep them quiet."

  • "Great meal, but the servers seemed frazzled. A bit noisy but will be better in the summer when you can eat outside. Strongly recommend."

  • "Excellent for a fly-out occasion - land at KEYE and just walk across the street. The FBO gives excellent service, fuel cost is average. The food at Ricks is medium price but waaay better than the average $100 hamburger."

  • "Our server was outstanding, as was the food and scenery!"

  • "Food and view are excellent! Service just so-so this visit. Coffee was cold and no replacement offered. Requested a fresh cup and it tasted bitter and microwaved. Our order was messed up and attention was less than usual. We were celebrating a birthday and no mention was made even though I noted on reservation that it was a birthday. View of eagle creek at sunset was spectacular. Good fabulous."

  • "We had a party of 5, one ordering a wood-fired pizza, another a fritatta, another Stuffed French toast, the 4th ordered seafood ravioli, and I ordered salmon roulade topped with poached eggs and a yummy sauce. The table was actually unusually quiet because we were all eating instead of conversing. The service was great, and the waterfront view spectacular."

  • "Food, atmosphere, service and everything else is great! If you can't decide what to get, try the Atlantic Salmon or the Tilapia and shrimp."

  • "We had not been to Rick's in a while and was really looking forward to a fine dinner and live jazz. The dinner and service was OUTSTANDING. However, we were a little disappointed with the band that night. We hope to visit again soon and experience the good music we have experienced in the past. My favorite place to dine. Mrs. Cunningham"

  • "3 business associates were coming in for a meeting the next morning - When they typically come to town we go to St. Elmos (always good and well known to out of towners), but I suggested we go to Rick's instead. None of them had been to Rick's before. We lucked in to an amazing day/night with high 60's so we grabbed seats on the deck and enjoyed drinks and dinner while watching the sunset. Once the sun was down the temperature dropped so we moved into the bar for another round and had just a wonderfule experience. The service was great and the food was amazing!"

  • "We have been enjoying fun family times at Rick's Boatyard for about 10 years! As the years, pass, however, we have noticed fewer and fewer vegetarian options available. It is now at the point that there is only one pasta dish [maybe two, if adjustments are made], a steamer and a pizza that are vegetarian. I wanted soup and a salad for dinner and was surprised to learn that even the black bean soup has pork in it and I asked for the Salmon chopped salad without the salmon and was charged the full salad price with the Salmon omitted. My basic salad was certainly not worth the $14 price charged. We love the atmosphere and the overall experience of Rick's, but, due to the lack of Vegetarian options, we 're not sure if we will return."

  • "Best filet I ever ate at any price. There were 4 in our party. My wife had a chicken alfredo dish that had lemon pepper seasoning and it was very flavorful. The other couple we were with had the sirloin and tilapia. He said the he had never had a better steak anywhere as well and she liked the tilapia but thought it had a little too much breading for being described as lightly breaded. We also had the scallop appetizer which were large but there were only 2 on a bed of what was described as a relish of some sort with calamari mixed in. The scallops very good and were very tender and seared in sake. This was our 3rd visit and we've never been disappointed."

  • "Ricks cafe boatyard is a beautiful place, service is outstanding. From the momemt you walk through the doors you are greeted with friendly faces... food was so delicious and serving sizes were perfect for us! The wine list is fabulous. The outdoor area would be great in warmer months. Wish we had a booth by the window but our table still had a nice view of the water. Loved eating there! Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We're borderline regulars and having a warm lunch despite post-blizzard conditions was a welcome break. It's a bit different looking out over a frozen Eagle Creek Reservoir but it was as picturesque as a warm summer sunny day. Lunch fare was perfect and our guest, equally discriminating, had a great time. But, I'm really eager for the Deck to open and the temps are back in the 80s!"

  • "Since Valentine's day was delayed by snow, we opted to go the next night. Evidently everyone decided to do just that! I had requested a table by a window since 1 of our guest had never been there before and they were from Florida, we were seated the furthest point away from a window. They put us up in the Banquet room pretty much at the far end from all windows and I felt as if I was attending a Wedding Reception but knew no one in the Wedding Party haha. Our server was either overwhelmed, which they were busy, or really didn't want to be upstairs either because he was having to go back downstairs for drinks, food, and apparently the bill. I got tired of waiting for check so I had another waitress start checking us out."

  • "Went to Rick's for Valentine's Day. Our table was ready and the scenery was great. It was romantic I had ordered flowers and they were on our table. We had ordered the prime rib and they were cooked just like we ordered and very delicious. I will definitely return there to dine again. We had great service."

  • "I loved everything about this restaurant except where I was seated. I made a reservation over a month in advance and we got stuck by the drafty cold door."

  • "Pretty good establishment, unique experience definitely worth going"

  • "The food tastes good. However, all you really get is a taste. On top of that, it is al la carte. If you want to spend a hundred dollars for two people and walk out full, this isn't your place. We got a meal for two that was better suited for 1 person. Summertime and lunch is better. I hear the lunch is better than the dinner and sitting on the porch overlooking the lake if quite the treat. Will try a lunch at some point this summer, but most likely won't return for a dinner."

  • "We were a party of 8 with a one year old. Made reservations several days ahead. Rick's called to confirm the day before. Service was prompt, with all questions answered. One of us had an Alpha-gal allergy which was explained to our server who then made sure the chef was aware and watched on our food. Oysters on the half shell were delicious, saki infused scallops out of this world with goodness! Fisherman's platter was grilled beautifully, not overdone. Everyone was very satisfied with their food! Excellent, highly recommend Rick's!!"
