Diner Reviews
  • "The service was friendly (a bit slow) and the food was great. Nice outdoor dining area that larger than the inside."

  • "We like this restaurant first for the atmosphere on the patio. This time, we ordered the pate and the tuna appetizers neither of which were great. The lasagne is still good, but I miss the basil sauce that used to be included as a part of the dish. The salad was very fresh."
    Dined on 7/1/2014
  • "The wine was very stimulating and very well priced. The lasagna was out of site."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner and overall dining experience at Riccardo's recently. We started out with (very good) martini's and a thinly sliced veal in a tuna/caper/cream sauce…fantastic!! The lasagna looked so good as it passed our table that all three of us couldn't resist ordering it for our main course. The pasta is so thin and delicate, you don't need a knife to cut it and the meat sauce was excellent. The head waiter, Walter, really made our evening complete…his name may not sound Italian, but believe me, he is 100% Italian (Pugliese) and he made us feel like we were right back in Italy…Great service, and knowledgeable about their wines (with a great choice of Italian wines at reasonable prices). We will definitely be back here!"

  • "The food continues tro be excellent and even while under construction the back deck is an oasis. The babble of the fountains allows conversation to happen without being lost it noise. As always the food was supreme."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "Since original owner's return, the food is great once again. Ask for Walter, the waiter par excellance!"

  • "Riccardo's is a gift. Excellent food, outstanding wine, and a setting that works with ease for both a quiet working lunch and an exuberant dinner celebration. Highly re ommended."

  • "We had a delicious dinner with friends from out of town on the patio, which was provided with heaters because evenings are still a little chilly out. So we were perfectly comfortable. The food, wine, and service were wonderful as usual. Riccardo's is always consistent. That's why it's our favorite Italian restaurant in our area."

  • "This use to be a great place! I took my daughter there telling her what a great place it was. She was appalled. Upon arrival I notice the outdoor entry way was filthy, at least get a broom out! We ate in the back on the patio, use to be great ambiance, now the place has really fallen apart there are loads of deferred maintenance issues! YIKES! Its time to get the power washer out on everything then some paint would go a long way, put a DOOR between the dirty kitchen and eating area, very unsightly! Clean the tables... etc. Food was very marginal, get a new chef who knows how to cook. On the positive side, service was very good as was the wine list."

  • "The only negative about the evening was getting to our beautiful outdoor table and discovering that the construction of the Wells Fargo bank next door meant construction sandbags and a retaining wall in the dining area. Would have been nice to have a heads up by phone so I could select inside seating."

  • "Fabulous evening w/friends, great food & service...Ben was fantastic & we loved the outdoor dining."

  • "After repeated visits, Riccardo's once again has out done itself. The food is spectacular and the service is top notch."
    Dined on 5/19/2014
  • "The food and service as usual were outstanding. Noise from construction next door could not be helped but did not spoil a perfect afternoon."

  • "Incredible meal! Everything was excellent. Best pork chop I have ever tasted!"

  • "It's not a fun place to sit and eat inside. Summer dining is great, but it's cramped and lacking inside. "

  • "If you have not discovered Riccardos yet, & you Love lasagna, Wow, prepare to be dazzled! The Best I've ever had! And I'm sure all the servers are fabulous, and our regular, Walter, will delightfully entertain your party as part of his Italian Family! He made our neighbors, the Birthday Boy, feel pretty special indeed! We reward Walter w a generous tip, & a taste of some fine wine we brought too. Lovely evening all around!"

  • "We just had our first dining experience at Ricardo's. We made reservations and our table to 6 was being readied as we arrived. Service was excellent; our server was friendly, helpful, attentive and also entertaining. Some of us had wine (which was excellent); those who did not were not made uncomfortable by the server as can often happen in nice restaurants. The menu was enticing, with an adequate, but not overwhelming choice of interesting selections. Each of us was happy with our meal. The food was fresh, tasty, and nicely presented. Both primo and second dishes came with soup or salad and portion size was just right--not skimpy, not oversized. The atmosphere was pleasant and we were not rushed. We will be back again."

  • "The tomato soup was divine, and those who had the eggplant and the razor clams said "best ever"! Had a lovely Chianti Classico Reserva, Nozzole 2009 which we thought excellent and perfect for the food. We had two elders as part of our party, and the restaurant made every effort to accommodate them, including setting up our table to accommodate a wheelchair."

  • "Riccardo's is a slice of heaven amid a dearth of fine dining in the south suburbs. The food is exquisite...never had a dish come up short, much less a bad meal. Fantastic place. Impressive Italian wine list. Fun characters for waiters. Don't miss out...!"

  • "We have been patrons of Riccardo's for 20 years. i must say that the chicken cacciatore and lasagna dominate our menu favorites but the scallops we excellent. The wine list is extensive and fairly reasonably priced."

  • "Small restaurant with pretty good food. Parking is not that great."

  • "A little known diamond where you can often get reservations last minute. Menu is limited but everything we had was outstanding. Service we wonderful and staff knowledgeable and even though things were hopping, we felt we had the table for the night (true Italian style) if we wanted to. Wine suggestion was outstanding - a perfect outing for a date night with no kids!"

  • "We already knew Ricardo's was great, but we were reminded once again just how great. We had a great meal, great service. We were celebrating our anniversary, we may have established a tradition. The only problem was picking what dish to enjoy. Luck for us we are already booked to return with fiends in a couple of weeks!"

  • "The food was excellent as was the service. Heaters made it comfortable to sit outside and enjoy a spring evening. We'll be back."

  • "My husband and I went here for our anniversary and found it to be a great little gem. I read some of the reviews before I booked a table some reviewers thought it was noisy. We did not find it to be noisy at all. Service was great and food was excellent. We will be back."

  • "Once again had a wonderful meal at Riccardos this week. The wine list is excellent, the ever changing menu superb and the wait staff is very knowledgable and helpful. Everything about this place is amazing and I cannot wait to go back."

  • "Everytime we go here we peruse the wine list. It's always fun to take a look at the "book". This time we were with friends who enjoy wine as much as we do. We ended up sharing a couple of bottles. My lamb was melt in your mouth tender. Everyone else was equally happy. We ordered three different desserts to share and agreed that the best was the peanut butter chocolate one. Quite an enjoyable evening. We'll be back."

  • "We took my Mother to Riccardos for her 80th birthday. Wine, food and service were outstanding. Our waitress even sang Happy Birthday to her in Italian. We had requested a quiet table as several diners in our party are hard of hearing. Riccardo's came through with a very nice table in the back of the restaurant."

  • "Dining at Riccardo's is a treat because this family-run restaurant is warm, and friendly offering delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. People make a place and at Riccardo's you can feel the passion and warmth this family brings to their restaurant by all who greet and serve you. We love it for family occasions and celebrations, especially in the summer, where the patio dining gives you a feeling of privacy and special comfort. No one rushes your dining experience at Riccardo's. Indoor dining is a bit more crowded and a wee bit louder, but ask to sit in the back along the wall... it's more private, especially if you bring a group. There's nothing like experiencing something, so if you're curious, go to Riccardo's and see for yourself!"

  • "Unique wine list, near perfect Italian food, and knowledgeable quirky server made this fun and memorable. If near Lake Oswego nothing tops this for Italian."

  • "We were "shuffled off to Buffalo" and seated across the parking lot from the restaurant in a wine store. Our hope for the warmth and ambience of the main restaurant was replaced by a drafty table, gas station single sex bathroom, indifferent service and luke-warm food. (Food is shuttled over in plastic tubs from the main kitchen). We made the best of it and used our back teeth to chew the over cooked entrees. Owner briefly swept thru this outpost, wagging hands of the regulars and skipping the unwashed. Two hours and twenty five minutes of slow motion angina. My take is they went for the Valentine Day money and stretched their their kitchen and wait staff beyond their reach compromising their reputation."

  • "This was our first experience at Riccardo's. We had a few highs and lows. The highs= The Waiter: A real Italian who was not only an excellent waiter, but charming and entertaining. The Wine List: What they must be known for. An amazing variety of Italian wines. The Lows= Seating/Environment: One thing we hate is to be jammed in on a tiny two top table in a long row of tables. With the service staff's rear ends within inches of us whenever they are waiting on an adjacent table. A fine restaurant experience to us requires a modicum of personal space at our table. You wont get that at Riccardo's. The Food: While is was generally good, for the price I expected a little more."

  • "We love the lasagna and order that nearly every time we're there. But, I'm sure other dishes are equally good."

  • "Took my wife here on Valentines day hoping for a nice romantic dinner. Unfortunately, even though I made reservations 2 weeks in advance, we were put next door to the main restaurant in a little diner-like building normally used as a coffee shop/wine bar. Ambiance was nil. Fortunately, the food was good and if you're there during good weather, the outdoor dining looks nice. The food was somewhat over priced and the waiter forgot to ask me if I wanted a different wine than that my wife was drinking so I ended up with the same for $16 a glass. I could have complained and totally ruined the mood so I chose not to. I won't go back unless I can be sure of being seated in the main restaurant and even then I'd not go out of my way to eat there."

  • "I recently took a date to Riccardo's and had one of the best dining experiences of my life. The night started off nicely when our waiter asked my date's preferences in wines and brought a sample that she seemed to really like. The waiter then gave us plenty of room while we chatted and decided on our meals. We were never rushed, which I really appreciated. The food was excellent. I had the breaded veal and my date had a prosciutto pasta. The flavors and appearance were wonderful. We finished with a tasty chocolate cake. What made the date so amazing came at the end. We continued chatting away when our waiter came to announce that an anonymous patron had picked up our tab because we looked like such a cute young couple. It blew me away."
