Riccardo TrattoriaWonderful Food!Food and service were outstanding! The ambience is a little crowded and noisy, so it's probably not the the best place for a romantic date. But the food is remarkable!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFod was fresh and delicious. We felt like we were back in Italy eating at someone's home. The food was perfect. From the appetizers to the dessert.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMItalian GemThis was our second time back to Riccardo Trattoria. The gnocchi and tiramusu is the best I have ever had! The host and hostess are very welcoming in addition. Our server was standard as he didn't speak much English, but was attentive. The bottle of Chianti we selected from Tusacny is also our favorite and very hard to find in stores! Overall, if you haven't tried Ricardo Trattoria, you need to! Definitely make a reservation!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely amazingNo Americanized Italian food here. The 3-course tasting menu is a steal. Service was attentive.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious mealGood and service excellent. The only item that was just ok we're the stuffed zucchini blossoms. The breading was heavy and you couldn't taste the delicate blossoms. Everything else, excellent5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! Our family loves Riccardo's, and we're never disappointed.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMthe food was as good as thethe food was as good as the food i had in florence - try the pasta with truffles - yummy!!!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden GemVery small restaurant with tables very close. You know that you are in the right place when the majority of the diners are speaking Italian. The Tasting Menu was so reasonably priced with many options. All the food we had was excellent. The deserts were to die for. Very attentive service with knowledgeable wait staff. Decor is pretty tired but we were so enjoying the food that we weren't bothered by it.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWill return! We ate here twice in 3 days...food was fantastic, service great!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific TuscanEvery course from the simple appetizers of Fava Beans in Truffle Oil with Pecorino to the elegant Stuffed Zucchini Flowers was well thought out and harmonious. Portions were large. Service was outstanding. When I could not decide between two pastas - the wonderful Fettuccine in Bolognese Sauce or the Veal Ravioli the waiter thoughtfully brought me half portions of each. The variety of choices was outstanding. I could not be more happy with the evening spent at Riccardo Trattoria. Food and preparation of better quality than Italian restaurants charging two-three times as much.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA gem!Small, excellent trattoria with menu from Peidmont region of Italy. Kitchen monitored for high quality, consistency. Steady menu, but numerous rotating special items. Enjoyed the antipasti family style. Small meatballs, calamari, caprese, fava beans. Try the larger meatballs with rice or white beans with seafood if on special menu. Risotto, gnocchi and pasta dishes are outstanding. Veal Milanese, veal shank and fish dishes also great selections. Ricotta cheesecake a specialty. Neapolitan on the special last time and is also excellent. Wine list nice, also can bring your own for a modest cork fee. Service is very good and fun. Definitely want a reservation.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dining experience! This is a wonderful Italian experience. We had great martinis to start with grilled octopus and fried zucchini flowers. The grilled octopus was exceptional. I had a pasta with porcini mushrooms. Beyond delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI brought new friends fromI brought new friends from south america and we had a wonderful dinner. The whole experience was first rate. Food great and service & ambiance wonderful5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWho would knowGreat little place. Food and service were great. The place is a little small but not such that one is sitting at the next persons table. We really liked it!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and good serviceVery nice ambience and nice waiters attending you. Our main waiter was italian and I asked what part of Italy was he from (Rome) and as soon as he found out I had italian family he started speaking to me in italian and making very pleasant small talk.
The food was very good and all the ingredients really fresh. Loved the Buffalo Mozzarella "Caprese" and the Eggplant & Zucchini Timbale as entree. As main course the Gnocchi Bava were also delicious.
I recommend it!!!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best Italian food I haveThe best Italian food I have ever had!! Truly authentic!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent dinner at Riccardo Trat.We had a truly outstanding meal. To die for: Mussels soup, Mediterranean Sea Bass, Pana Cota.
Service was very knowledgeable and attentive, if somewhat disinterested at times.
A little pricey but well worth it.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding pasta and risotto.Outstanding pasta and risotto. Salad is a bit soggy. Gelato and coconut sorbet were terrific.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit withThis was my second visit with my husband to Riccardo Trattoria, and we both love it! We received the recommendation from a friend, and they were absolutely right. On our first visit we tried the grilled octopus (highly recommended) and a pappardelle with rabbit ragout (a special of the evening). This visit we had roasted duck leg as appetizer. It was cooked perfectly! We then shared the orrecchiete with wild boar sausage and rapini and the ossobuco. Everything was amazing! I have no complaints. The atmosphere is inviting, warm, and cozy. It is a pretty small restaurant so definitely make reservations if you are going on the weekend!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic Italian food (myAuthentic Italian food (my wife is Italian so we can judge). Super friendly service. A bit cramped but overall experience very goodWould definitely return.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSeveral friends recommendedSeveral friends recommended Riccardo Trottoria, and we finally had a chance to try it last Sunday. The food did not dissapoint. We've been searching for a good Italian restaurant in the city for a long time, and this just might be the one!
The seven of us all had diffent dishes so we sampled a little bit. The calamari is tender and crip; very nicely done. The veal and roasted lamb chops are prepared just right, and the ravioli stood out to be the best: it's soft with a nice texture and not heavy at all.
The dining room is very small; we saw people waiting for a table at 5:30 on a Sunday afternoon, so if you decide to go, make sure to make a reservation. We will definately return to try other things.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA Rave for Riccardo TrattoriaThis restaurant is truly a gem. Unpretentious. Friendly staff, fine food (the homemade pasta is wonderful), and professional service. We showed up in our jeans and T-shirts after a Cubs game and they treated us like we were special. We noticed that several of the guests were known to the staff, so if you're looking to dine where the locals go, here it is. But be sure to reserve a table. By 6:30 on a Sunday there was already a wait.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time here and weOur first time here and we will definitely put it into our neighborhood rotation. The food, wine and service...outstanding!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Service wasExcellent food. Service was outstanding. Very small so don't expect to walk in and get a table. I would highly recommend this place for a true Italian good lover, but as with anything good - it will cost you.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat tratorria (look up definitiongreat tratorria (look up definition in Wikipedia). While the food was very good (Branzino, Tuscan potatoes and Risoto were the stars on this night), the service stood out and will have us coming back. Warm and attentive.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMRicardo Trattoria was recommendedRicardo Trattoria was recommended to us by a friend and it was not a disappointment. We were seated at the reservation time, served quickly and a very clean environment. Good service and great food are a tough combination for many restaurants today.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMTrattoria Riccardo was a perfectTrattoria Riccardo was a perfect spot for my husband's birthday. We have been eating american contemporary lately on our outings and this was a pleasant departure. The restaurant has an great aura -dark wood, small scale, high vaulted ceiling and warmly lit with large romantic style chandeliers. Reservations are in high demand and we went on a weekend, so the overall sound was energetic. We have to come back to try more items on the menu since there is so much to taste. The grilled scallop antipasti with bacon was incredible and the panna cotta was the best we both have ever had. My pasta dish was excellent- gnocchi w pancetta. Cocktails were ok, classic nothing out of ordinary.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place really is a gemThis place really is a gem run by true professionals.......everything was outstanding.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIn my opinion this is theIn my opinion this is the best Italian restaurant in Chicago! Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly, the food was incredible and timed perfectly, and the ambiance was very romantic. All for a very reasonable price, too! We can't wait to go back!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOkay for some romance...Small and romantic. A little pricey for the quality of food.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMbest pappardelle dish I havebest pappardelle dish I have ever had. Period. My husband and I ordered 2 appetizers (steamed mussels and grilled calamari) and 3 entrees (the grilled whole pompano, jumbo quail, and flat iron steak tagliata), and Pappardelle with double smoked bacon for my toddler. All from the today's special menu. Everything was GREAT but I love the pappardelle the best. My toddler let me have some of hers so she could try the quail, the pompano, and the steak. She LIKES everything! For dessert, we had the gelato and it was also very good. We look forward to be back when we are visiting the windy!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGive your review a title (optional)Outstanding Italian menu, very interesting pastas and appetizers, good bargain on the $33 3-course fixed price menu. Also nice to be able to split a pasta course. Waitress was outstanding. Wine pricy at $10-11 per glass but wines interesting and well paired with the food. Ricotta cheese cake devine.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this restaurant! GoI love this restaurant! Go there every year on my birthday. The pasta is always top notch and I've never had better calamari. Once the waiter told me their panna cota is the best -- and he was soooo right! The red wine the waiter recommended was also wonderful, as usual.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic Italian FoodYou know food is great just because half of the people who goes there speaks Italian! Food ended up amazing. The service was OK. I think it's because they are extra busy during the restaurant week. Small place, suggest to make reservations.2/9/2013 12:00:00 AMReally good hearty ItalianReally good hearty Italian food. Lots of choices from pastas, to meats, to fish. I've been there 4-5 times and have enjoyed everything I've tried. The room is small and always full so the noise can be high, but the food is good enough that I'd rather eat than talk!2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Sophisticated ItalianFabulous Italian. The restaurant week 3-course menu for $44 offers one of the largest selections around & is a real value. Every dish we have ever tried here has been outstanding. Beware, this is a small place & on weekends they run behind on reservations (30 min?) & there is only a tiny foyer. They sent us across the street to wait at their new, more casual spot. The waiters there kept asking us if we wanted anything But we felt uncomfortable that we weren't ordering there, just hanging around.2/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
