Our meal was delicious, but we were seated at a table that felt as if we were in a hallway, as if we were an afterthought at a hastily arranged space, despite reservations made weeks in advance. And our waiter seemed very distracted and confused. But the food was lovely!

Recently dinned at rialto. Had drinks at bar which where unique and great, but that was the highlight. Sat down, never really knew who the waiter was. Served us cold bread, after ten minutes then asked for warm bread. Place was not that busy. The first appetiser was cold and had them take it back only to be met with another cold dish. Waiter never cleaned the table and this is suppose to be a 4 star restaurant. Manager offered to comp the appetiser with a meager apology. The main couse was duck and aragosta e vongole which was a pleasant suprise to the palate, but once again the food was on the cool side. If i were you would not waste your time and do not feel it was woth the money. Especially since we just dined at Ostra the day before and had such a wonderful experience.

We arrived around 5:15p and asked if we could be seated earlier than our 6p reservation, to which we were told the restaurant opens at 5:30p and "they were fully committed." With few people in the bar, I didn't quite understand. As I peered into the dining room, it was empty. What does it mean, fully committed? While having a drink at the bar, I learned that they charge a $65 cancellation fee, if done to close to dinner. UGH... I was not impressed. Dinner, the ambiance at the table and our server, Ruben, turned my unpleasant first impression into a very favorable lasting impression. Not to be gross, but it was the most expensive price per person I've ever paid for dinner... and my lasting impression is that it was worth every penny, thanks to Ruben. "We are fully committed at 5:30." I guess I'll never understand what that means when the restaurant was just opening for the evening and the place was almost empty. If this about staffing, why not just explain in a way that sets a reasonable explanation?

Not what I expected after so many good reviews. Everything was just okay. Swordfish entree was good, but were very small. Atmosphere was like a carpeted bedroom with sheer curtains and people whispering. Lights were too dim and we had to ask our waiter to turn up the lights. I don't understand what people are raving about. Just okay to me. Will not return.

This was our first time here. Lovely place, excellent service, and delicious food. They had added a collection of stars on our table to celebrate our anniversary and decorated our dessert with a "Happy Anniversary", helping to make the evening special. We shared a antipasto and primo but had individual secondo; for us this was the right amount of food. The octopus was wonderful, the rabbit ravioli good, and the pork two ways and scallops both excellent. We definitely intend to return.

Other than waiting forever for service, repeatedly asking for water, water refills, where is our food etc, the food was very mediocre and cold. No one liked their food. I had very expensive lobster that had no flavor, was bathed in a grey watery residue, and was luke warm. I was starving, so I ate it, but my stomach was sorry. The two accompanying clams were rubbery and cool as well. Our two guests did not complain, but neither did they say that anything tasted good. Was this a one off? I would not recommend this restaurant, nor return. We were also staying at the Charles hotel where Rialto is located. I often eat at expensive restaurants, but expect commensurate food and service. Not sure why I am giving them any stars at all.

We had an outstanding dinner with great service! I was entertaining friends from CA who are real foodies. They had the famous duck plus rabbit ravioli and burrarta. I had the scallops and the grilled clams which we shared. My friends were in heaven. The dining room was hopping and Jody Adams was actively overseeing all the action. Do not hesitate to go to Rialtio if you want great food, warm friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere. Rialto remains my go to place for a special dinner!

It's been a while since we've been to Rialto for dinner, though we enjoy their bar very much. Wow, this place has completely crashed! Food was lukewarm and poorly prepared - all six firsts and all six mains. Shockingly poor preparation, truly. Eggplant Parm dish was a mushy re-heated blob with 5 - count them! - 1 cm unmelted parm shavings sprinkled on top. Barely edible and absurd at $28. Pastas were overcooked and bland. Scallops were barely warm and flavorless. Slow and inattentive service. Sad to experience a once-good restaurant completely take their eye off the ball. If I were Chef Adams, I would be ashamed.

We enjoyed this restaurant. We went on a Friday night with another couple. The waiter asked us if we had any time commitments, and as we were going to a concert after dinner, he and he kitchen accommodated our schedule. The food was excellent. The portions are a little on the small side, so if you are a big eater you might not be satisfied. We would go here again.

For the first time I was disappointed by Rialto. Two members of our party had already been seated, and the two others waited for them at the bar for fifteen minutes before texting them to find out they were in the restaurant. That should never happen. One member of our party specifically asked for an ingredient to be omitted from a dish. It was included anyway. That should never happen. The appetizers were excellent, but the main courses were flat, forgettable. I don't know what happened, but the entire evening was not up to Rialto's standards.

What an immense disappointment. We waited 30 minutes for our server to talk with us or take an order. We then waited another 30 minutes for our food. The entree given to me was not what I ordered. I was told it would be yet another 15+ minutes to bring what I had ordered. I declined as the rest of my party would be half way through with their meals. About 20 minutes later out comes the entree. No apologies, but a statement that there would be no charge. Then dessert - the coffees came, another 15 minutes for the one dessert. Finally the bill - with the charge for the late entree. Yes this was corrected when we spoke up but again no apologies and an air that this was all our problem. Arrogance, lack of service, lack of care.

Rialto has long been at or near the top of our list of Boston area restaurants. It is very hard for me to find things to be critical of as their execution is nearly flawless. The wait staff is exceptional and almost everyone who has waited on us over the years has offered good suggestions and have know the wine list well. The wine pricing is fair and many excellent bottles can be found below $60. The regional cuisine menus are usually first rate but don't forget to have the duck once in a while. It is as good as you remembered it to be. When the Globe's last food critic retired, she gave Rialto 4 stars in her final review. The rating is accurate and well deserved

Fond of good food and creative preparations, we were very disappointed. Salads dull, plates did not look freshly prepared, roast duck was very tough, overdone/underdone depending on what the objective was, with completely burnt skin. Dry and tasteless. Veggies underneath mashed and unidentifiable. Potatoes on the side were hard! Our guests had pasta served on a flat plate, also looked like it wasn't freshly plated, and fish, which was probably okay. Waiter was aggressive with suggestions, as though determined to have us order what he advised. Few other diners, really we must not be the only ones to notice.

Took the subway made it to the restaurant with ease. Seated at a table that overlooked Charles Square, our dinner selections included the rabbit ravioli & the Pat and Robert's Littlenecks appetizers; followed by the Lobster Brodetto & the Smoked and Grilled Chicken Peperoncino + Corn & Chanterelles side. Dessert was the smartly chosen Trio di Dolci (miniature tastes of our blueberry frangipane tart, stone fruit strudel and strawberry cake). Service was attentive. Interior colours kept the room bright. The execution of the dishes were as expected We do recommend this restaurant. Love how they will try to accommodate you if you have certain allergies.

Sorry to say that the food was not delicious. We ordered 4 different dishes, bluefish, ravioli, lasania and bolognese (spelling maybe wrong). All were not even warm. I think the dishes were not order made. It seemed that they had already made the dishes, when orders arrived, they just put the food on the plates. My bluefish had light seasoning, the soup was just like water. My daughter said her lasania had sour taste. They used melon and cantaloupe and bread in the 1st course. They also used the same ingrediants (melon and catalogue in dice shape) in my son's main dish, my husband 's desert, bread in my main dish. This is Boston dine out week, $40/each for dinner, this restaurant wanted to save money. Overall, disappointed dinner for us.

Our anniversary falls in restaurant week (excuse me, "Dine Out Boston"). That means that getting a great meal at a great restaurant can be a little fraught. Not here. The restaurant week menu is real Rialto cooking, mixing and matching that with items off the regular menu poses no problem, and the front of house makes the experience identical to the regular season. Great food, lovely presentation, and warm welcome.
