Diner Reviews
  • "We were a large group and they gave us a beautiful table. The food was amazing. The special seafood risoot was one of the best risottos I have ever tasted. Incredible flavor. We live in the neighborhood and we love this place."

  • "Good food, friendly staff, great ambiance. Wine is a little bit on the expensive side but it was worth it."

  • "Best service in DC. WE had a lot of appetizers and shared a couple of entrees. Everything was excellent."

  • "Having lived in Georgetown for the past five years I've been underwhelmed by the restaurant options. I hosted a "girls night" at Rialto and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The food was delish and great service. We enjoyed the pizzas, pasta bolognese & lingunie w/ clams the most. Also it was happy hour and all drinks and apps were $6! Great deal!"

  • "Well designed (hooks for purses! High back bar stools) and comfortable bar and great happy hour drinks and prices. Good mix of cocktails and food. Reserved table was ready on time but they were cool with holding it for us while we hung out at the bar a bit longer. "

  • "My friends and I were beyond amazed with the experience we had at Rialto. We requested Sanad again and he was very courteous and accommodating, as well as the hostess! The salmon, muscato, mash potatoes, and asparagus were simply delicious!!! The ambience was soothing and classy!!! Great for a romantic evening and the space accommodates groups. Can't wait to go back!!! Thank you Sanad, you're the best waiter ever!!!"

  • "Horrible service. The food was decent, but nothing could make up for the lack of attention."

  • "Our server was slow to check on us and so the bottomless mimosas only lasted 3 refills. The place was a bit empty, but the brunch menu was pretty decent."

  • "Our host was snooty and rude and it ruined the tone of our lunch and the menus he handed us were dirty - I am neighbor and take clients out to lunch... on this particular day- it was an important potential client-- I won't make that mistake again. The food was good. "

  • "Visiting DC with the family and had a good time there and enjoyed the food."

  • "We were visiting DC with another family and the restaurant was recommended to us by our concierge. the restaurant is kid friendly and the service was good although a bit rushed. We sat downstairs which was a bit loud and tough to hear each other. I agree with some of the reviews, the food is average at best. My puttanesca lacked the punch of flavor, the calamari was just ok, my husband's fish was bland. Vibrant bar scene but wouldn't go back for the food."

  • "My family and I were visiting from New Jersey. Made reservations on a Friday night. Place was about half full. We were seated upon arrival. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The was average to bad. Pizza was the best item we had. Calamari was ok, had better at local pizzerias. My wife ordered orichetti with sausage and broccoli rabe which had no flavor at all. The burrata I ordered tasted like it was frozen. My daughter's ravioli were over cooked. The vodka drink I ordered had almost no vodka in it. In all, a nice place with bad food. "

  • "Delicious small plates and a vibrant decor make this a wonderful dining experience. Great service too!"

  • "Really excellent food. Service was lackluster, disinterested."
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "Mediocre food and inattentive service (not clearing empty plates; ad lib delivery of dishes; must request wine order twice) make this a place to skip."

  • "We had a great time with excellent food. Got a collection of seafood and fresh vegetable pasta, and the cocktails were excellent. A bit loud for a big group (we were 5, but I don't think I'd want to go if over 6 people) but otherwise excellent."

  • "The bottom line is there are much better Italian restaurants in Georgetown. The service was ok. Everyone working there seemed unhappy. When ordering the caprese salad they said they were out of mozzarella. We had to say can you make it with barrata. The tomato sauce was very salty. Just would not return. Was adequate all around."

  • "Loved our dining experience at this great new find. Food was delicious, beautifully presented by very solicitous wait staff. Highly recommend"

  • "Great ambience. However, server wasn't knowledgable about menu. Asked for a vegetarian dish and ended up with a dish that had meat."

  • "They really did a nice job with the space though even half empty it's very loud inside. The staff overall wasn't as bad as I was expecting based on other reviews but the manager was pretty bad. I assume he was a manager as he was suited up. He brought is our cheese and meat plates without even explaining what was where. I've never seen that before but we watched him do the same to two other tables. The waitress was nice and prompt though. As for food - do not order the meatballs. They tasted awful and had a weird texture. Neither of us made it past the first bite. I think the steak would have been good if not over cooked. The cheese ravioli was good but a bit plain with just the butter sauce. Pricey for leaving hungry."

  • "If you're looking for a moderately priced place where you can eat moderately-tasty food, this is it. It gets very loud on weekend nights, and the crowd is VERY mixed. If you're looking for a classy place, or a spot for a romantic date, or a place where you can actually talk to your dining partners, this probably isn't it. The burrata small plate is excellent, but the gnocchi pomodoro tastes like spaghetti O's - really. Mushroom risotto is OK but nothing to write home about. Red sangria is good. Service was fine but not particularly insightful; our server seemed a little confused by any question we asked him (such as, what are some of the more popular items here?). Maybe if the food improves or the prices drop, we'd go back."

  • "Rialto is a great new spot in Georgetown. Food is very good (however our service was a little slow so some of our food was cold; but i think the food is good if hot). The pizza is really good, and nice low key bar scene. I would go again."

  • "This was our second visit. The first was a nice experience. The second was a huge disappointment. The waiter ignored us while playing with his phone at the bar. The hostess asked how dinner was while watching us pour our own wine. Both the spinich and arugula salads were under dressed. The pasta special of the day was tasteless. No reason for a third visit."

  • "We came to Rialto to celebrate my birthday. Our entrees all came out at different times, though everyone ordered together. When I asked a server where the last of the entrees was, she said it "just takes longer to cook,” as if it is up to the guests to order dishes with equal cook times. Further, we stayed until around 10:30. This was on a Saturday night, but I could tell our server was fed up with us being there, despite the fact that we ordered three courses and three bottles of wine. We weren't exceptionally loud or demanding; she was just ready to go home. I worked in restaurants for five years. I know it's difficult, but it's part of the industry. Like I said, this was my birthday celebration, and overall, service was underwhelming."

  • "It was a relaxing dinner- they put us in the large room in the back and it's a beautiful space. Our waiter was very helpful with selections and food came out at a nice pace. Healthy Italian wine list and awesome music playing made the night."

  • "This was my first visit to Rialto. After reading a recent article on the restaurant, I wanted to try this new DC locale. Upon entering the restaurant, there was no one to greet me. It was prior to 6:00 PM on a week night so expected there to be someone attending the maitre d' station. Once the individual appeared, I pretty much had my choice of seating. Our server was initially very attentive. He provided the menus and took a cocktail order. From that point on, service was not what it should have been. The server provided inconsistent service. He was serving two other tables which should not have been the issue. Our food arrived inconsistently. Once guest received her last dish after we'd finished. Management needs to revamp service!"

  • "Small-plates restos like Rialto live or die on whether you tell your dining companions, "You just HAVE to try this!" Judged from that criterion, Rialto needs to up its game or it will have a short run in DC's intensely competitive dining scene. The menu is promising, but kitchen execution is only average: uninspiring grilled asparagus, cheese-clogged pizza al funghi, and an unmemorable sea bass dish, among others. That feeling of "average" is reinforced by the cheap-kitschy decor and '70s guitar-rock soundtrack. The shame of it all is that there is real potential here: somebody smart put together the menu, and there are gems to be found among the otherwise drab offerings. Time to kick it up a notch."

  • "My last review of this restaurant was critical, an off night. Tonight it was back to its old self. The food was very good, pace of service of small dishes was good and the service was excellent. many thanks to Enzo and Antonio! Buonissimo:)"

  • "I have enjoyed Rialto on two other cocasions and was impressed by the quality of the food and service but not this night. The food was a bit off and the service was very slow. It appeared there was 1 waiter and 1 busboy for the whole place and it was packed. The manager stepped in to help but gave no apologies for the service, pace in which the food came out or lukewarm food. When we spoke to the manager about the experience he shrugged it off - he should have reduced our bill! We canceled our dessert order because it took so long to get. I expected much better than this. Given my previous experiences, I will try this restaurant again. The food was excellent quality and service stellar the previous 2 times I was there."
