The food here was outstanding. The
chicken penne was awesome. Coco was our server and she took excellent care of us. She was super friendly and helpful. Excellent views of the harbor and a great place to watch the sunset. The noise level was a little too loud because the restaurant has a lot of hard surfaces and I think everyone was trying to talk over the piano player but no complaints besides that."

The menu, though not extensive,
had excellent choices and everyone at our table (4) was pleased with their dinner and the appetizer. The wine was very good, as well. The view of the harbor was, as always, lovely at sunset. A very nice experience."

Friends and I went to celebrate a
birthday (40th) and loved the view of the harbor. We ordered sword fish plates and scallops (separate) plate. There were only 4 scallops on my friend's plate, for dinner and the cost there should be maybe 2 more. Also we were asked if we wanted soup or salad and requested salads only to find out the salads were extra and not included in the dinner cost. Overall the place is ok, great view, but not much else."

Our was great and came out in a
timely manner, but our server was no where to be found most the night. They would have sold twice as many drinks if she was around. She also took forever bringing our drinks and even forgot what I ordered once. I don't know how the other servers are, but mine was not so good. The food was so amazing though so I guess I will have to deal with the service cause I'm going back."

We love the spacious dining room.
We're not big on bar scenes, but the wine list is above average. My husband is a wine collector & he is impressed with the quality of the fine wines. The food is a great treat to go with the wines. My husband had a steak that was a special that night, I had miso salmon crispy skin. We thought both dishes were exceptional. Thank you for helping with a great birthday celebration. I will recommend your restaurant to friends & family. They do ask us for recommendations because they know we are foodies."

My daugheters (13 and 10) and I
were looking for a special restaurant to enjoy "surf and turf" while vacationing in Ventura; We found the Harbor area very charming and the Rhumb Line was exactly what we were looking for. The the seafood in the bouillabaisse was succulent and tender. The fish and chips were crispy and seasoned perfectly. The duck was tender and delicious, (although more glaze would have put it over the top!) All in all a wonderful, special night for my girls and me."

Fun space, uncrowded place on a
beautiful day for brunch overlooking the Ventura Harbor."

This was our 4th visit to Rhumb
Line and we were disappointed this time. The server warned us that there was a large party being served and the food might be a bit slow in getting to us. What she didn't tell us is that she would bring out an undercooked, cold piece of swordfish TWICE to one of us. The rest of our dinners were fine and the drinks were good, but eating our dinners while our poor friend waited twice for her swordfish to be done correctly essentially ruined our dinner-she was finally served a done piece after we finished our dinners. No visit from the manager or offer of anything was forthcoming-I guess the server never informed anyone of the problem in the kitchen."

We had some great food , service
was good, view of harbor is also very nice. Noise level was high, very busy that night, hard to hear conversation with people sitting across the table."

Visited first time. Came with a
friend. Ordered omelet, potatoes, pancakes and side of sausage. Omelet overcooked, brown, tough. Not really an omelet. More like overcooked fratata, with another overcooked fratata on top of it. Potatoes soggy, peppers and onions burned. Pancakes, thin as crepes. Arrived cold. The side of sausage was tough and cold, and we had to cut off the edge to get to the middle of the sausage to eat it. My companion was given fruit SAUCE to pour over them, instead of jelly or jam. The tomato slices were pale and tasteless. Will not come back here unless for the view only and a glass of water. OUR WAITRESS WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING. PROPS TO HER. Someone get a REAL chef in there!"

My wife and I took friends to
Rhumb Line for dinner twice now (different friends) and the food and service was excellent. On the latest trip to the restaurant, we had swordfish again and it was wonderful. All of the food was done beautifully, great service, and a relaxing atmosphere and beautiful view. We met the owner (Karen) and talked to her for a while. We really felt at home in the restaurant. She was great. Our friends loved the food (especially the swordfish dinner). We would recommend this place to anyone. Live music in the evenings with good talent. Needless to say, we love the place !! Can't wait to get more of those fresh oysters on the half-shell again !!"

What a great night out with
friends, ambience, food, wine, view and service were all great. We would highly recommend."

We were told the Lobster mac and
cheese was no longer on the menu, which is what we initially selected Rhumb Line for a special occasion, BUT they accommodated us and made it special since they had had a lobster bisque they were making that evening. We loved it. We had a very nice birthday celebration dinner. Highly recommend. It's a bit pricey, but if you have the $$, spend the time. Our wait person, CoCo, was awesome. She's waited on our group twice and she is so pleasant. If you're staving, make sure you ASK for bread at the beginning of the evening, otherwise you wait a looooong time for it. Also, if you're in a hurry, ask to order soon, otherwise that also takes a long time. Overall, I'd give it a 9 on a scale of 10. Yum!"

We enjoyed Rhumb Line quite well.
Food was very tasty and portion sizes were excellent. Drinks were sized well with good wine pours. Service was a bit slow, but we had the time to enjoy conversation. We shall return with friends."

A very good seafood restaurant
with a nice harbor view of the boats and at the right time of day, a beautiful sunset view. The food is well prepared and the portions ample. The Paella is excellent with the rice being moist rather than dry and plenty of seafood and sausage. The salads are very good."

Everything was great about the
place, the reservation, confirmation call, service and food. This place is a hidden gem. The music was a plus and it was perfect in sound and taste of songs."

Food arrived cool. Had to send
back the risotto. Salty...should have asked to hold the salt Everything was sort of bland Duck was cooked well and that was the highlight. Was there for a special Valentine's dinner...perhaps not their best showing"
Dined on 2/14/2014
Can't beat the view. Full moon
made it extra special. We shared 2 orders of Crab cakes, 1 bruschetta, 1 calamari appetizers all good, though there was enough salad with the crab cakes + bruschetta for 12 and crab cakes for 4. Main Course: My salmon was delicious. Husband's blackened sea bass was over cooked and nasty. He should have sent it back. Think they blackened it because it was old. "Southern shrimp/grits - ok. Grits were very bland. Fish/Chips looked very good. Waiter was very nice and attentive. Did a good job. Husband's fault he didn't send it back or complain. Waiter wasn't told so there was no opportunity to fix it. I would go back but my husband won't.after spending the night with a noisy stomach."

My wife and I have eaten lunches
and dinners at Rhumb Line a number of times and the food and service was always great. We took two of our neighbors to dinner a few nights ago and they were amazed at how great the food and service was during our visit. I believe that they will add it to their restaurant list. We all had different main course items and we shared the meat and fish for taste-testing. We had filet mignon, pork chop, salmon, and swordfish. All dishes were excellent and our friends were amazed at the food. This was their first trip to the restaurant. They'll be back no doubt. The restaurant had live music on Friday night that as also very good."

Since this lunch, was not packed,
we enjoyed the quiet. Beautiful day in Ventura, beautiful scenic view. Tasty food. We will be back."

This was almost the perfect night.
Food , Drinks, Service and Flowers I had sent were more than EXCELLENT. The bad part came about a half hour after arrival. I didn't know that music was a part of the evening, but a "Band" started setting up and tuning up.... Could not talk to my wife or guests...Two guitar players who went on to play Country Western and Bluegrass music for the next two hours (Very LOUDLY) The only break came when a Family friend of the owner decided she wanted to sing ACCA-PELLa (Voice Only). She was 11 years old but screeched out with a LOUD voice for about 10 minutes...(AWFUL)..what some parents won't do to satisfy their spoiled children. I will go again, but I will inquire first if a band will be there."

We have enjoyed Rhumb Line for
cocktails and dinner so decided to give it a try for brunch on Sunday. Very reasonably priced, standard breakfast menu items, well prepared. Really enjoyed the musician playing guitar and singing at moderate volume. Made for a very enjoyable Sunday morning overlooking the marina. Definitely will return for brunch!"

The location is nice good harbor
views. After the sun goes down so does the food it was terrible. I order the special rack of lamb and it was a wreak. Service was at best would you like more bread and now I understand fill the customer up on bread so they don't eat the food."
Dined on 1/9/2014
very pleasant dining
experience.great dishes, however, 3 entrees were unavailable or had run out; this was 7 o'clock on a Saturday night.we had seabass and shrimp and grits both incredible. Service was average to slow especially since restaurant was not crowded."

A great place! We celebrated our
anniversary there....beautiful setting, food was wonderful, server awesome, chef somewhat slow... but we were given complimentary dessert that was to die for....Cream Brulee Cheesecake! We will go back!"

From the hostess to the inal bill
from our waitress this was a top of line experience. We had a great seat right in front of the entertainment.(as requested in my on-line reservation!). We had our drinks right away, great explanations of the specials and even a visit from the Chef at our table to check on the excellent food! I had the lobster mac n cheese appetizer( ameal in itself) and my date had the fish and chips, definitely enough food for two to share with leftovers. Great experience will definitely be back!!"

We ate early on Christmas Eve. The
food was excellent. The lobster bisque was perfect and the rack of lamb (mustard crusted) was done perfectly, accompanied by a risotto-vegetable medley that was a flavorful excellent match for the lamb. Service was a little on the slow side, but all the wait staff were friendly and accommodating. The wine list wasn't extensive, but was reasonable. The restaurant is located by the docks in Ventura Harbor with a view out to Santa Cruz island. Dining at dusk has a great sunset view, and we were able to watch large sea lions broaching and pelicans diving for their dinners."
Dined on 12/24/2013
Christmas Eve dinner experience
was overall pleasant and delicious. However, greatly disappointed that they had run out of prime rib before 7pm and that the live music find not start until 830. The lamb was excellent. Service was good although the first course finished plates were not removed promptly. The receptionist and server were delightful. Lovely view. We'll go back."
Dined on 12/24/2013
food was good and good service.
will definitely returned. This is the second time we have dined there. For lunch and dinner. Saw harbor dolphins during lunch and evening dining was nice as the server was attentive but not intrusive. I had the salmon which was delicious."

The Rhumbline is an exceptional
restaurant. Beautiful views of the Harbor and ocean, and delicious food. The decor is fresh and inviting. A+"

We tried Rhrumb Line because it
looked nice from the website and we were not disappointed. It is like a mansion from the outside with festive lights and situated on the harbor. Our food was delicious - oysters good and duck with a tomato risotto - fantastic. Peter had scallops (5 large perfectly cooked) with blue cheese risotto. We especially appreciated the artistic plating andvample portions. Our waitress was a bit brusk, but did a good job."

Good dinner for Thanksgiving with
just a couple of gliches. The owners wife leaves you standing and is not a good hostess. She also insisted the door be left open creating a massive draft that was unpleasant. I was disappointed that when i made the reservation i was told it was turkey and or ham with prime rib $10 extra. We were given a slip that stated $7 extra if you wanted turkey and ham. I found that very misleading. The new chef has made massive improvements to the food and out waiter was fantastic. The owners just need to make a few little changes"
Dined on 11/28/2013
The view is amazing, but the food
is nothing special. I would not say it was bad, it was just not at all memorable. The food was passable, which is ok for lots of people, but for me I want meals to be memorable. A day after eating here I remember the view, which is amazing, but everything else was just average."

We were driving down the coast,
returning home from our vacation and thought we would be in Ventura around time for dinner. We got stuck in traffic and had to change our time 3 times. Thank goodness Rhumb line was understanding and worked with Open Table. We had a wonderful dinner. The appetizer of Sticky Calamari was suggested by our server, Alexander and was delicious. We then had a wonderful halibut dinner and fish and chips. Excellent service and the food was some of the best we've ever had. Looking forward to returning soon!"
Dined on 11/26/2013
Restaurant was quiet - we went on
a Tuesday evening. Waitress was very pleasant and chatty, but seemed forgetful and disappeared for long periods of time. We ordered cocktails. One of them tasted like an artificially flavored orange cordial drink. The other was stuffed full of foliage and cucumber and didn't seem to have a trace of alcohol in it. Pretty unpleasant. Anyway, the mussels appetizer was great - the highlight of the evening. Very tender and sweet. Unfortunately, dinner wasn't a hit. The sea bass was very dry and bland - reminded me of frozen fish. The risotto was a heavy, buttery lump. It's a shame - great location at the harbor. Lots of potential. Maybe it was just an off night."
Dined on 11/26/2013
We had a perfect table to watch
the sunset and enjoy top quality seafood MTV sea bass and my wife's salmon were both prepared perfectly service was attentive and friendly and they had live music made our dinner even more pleasant Only complaint was a long wait for drinks as the bartender was busy taking care of the crowded bar and neglected our waiter's Oder for about 15 minutes."

I enjoy going to Rhumb line very
much. The food is good and so is the service. I have brought many friends there and they all have enjoyed it very much. I recently brought two friends from Germany there for dinner and they loved it. It is so nice to have a good restaurant so close to home. I live in the mobil home park across the street so it is really convenient. We walked thee and back."

Friends suggested we meet there.
We loved it. Views of the harbor, great food, wonderful service, good prices. We will be back."
Dined on 10/21/2013
We were given the scenic view we
asked for and it was very scenic. The food selection was great, a lot of choices, and everything looked very interesting. The server agreed with the choice of wine was a good chardonay. The clam chowder was great, rich and thick. The heirloom Tuscan salad with calamari was very large but very tasty. Sea Bass and Halibit were the entree choices and very good ones. The sides were included and all the pairings were excellent. Dessert was a selection of cakes which after such a large dinner, seemed a bit on the heavy side. We had coffee and enjoyed the view. We would definately recommend the Rhumb Line for a memorable dinner."
