We were told the Lobster mac and
cheese was no longer on the menu, which is what we initially selected Rhumb Line for a special occasion, BUT they accommodated us and made it special since they had had a lobster bisque they were making that evening. We loved it. We had a very nice birthday celebration dinner. Highly recommend. It's a bit pricey, but if you have the $$, spend the time. Our wait person, CoCo, was awesome. She's waited on our group twice and she is so pleasant. If you're staving, make sure you ASK for bread at the beginning of the evening, otherwise you wait a looooong time for it. Also, if you're in a hurry, ask to order soon, otherwise that also takes a long time. Overall, I'd give it a 9 on a scale of 10. Yum!"

We enjoyed Rhumb Line quite well.
Food was very tasty and portion sizes were excellent. Drinks were sized well with good wine pours. Service was a bit slow, but we had the time to enjoy conversation. We shall return with friends."

A very good seafood restaurant
with a nice harbor view of the boats and at the right time of day, a beautiful sunset view. The food is well prepared and the portions ample. The Paella is excellent with the rice being moist rather than dry and plenty of seafood and sausage. The salads are very good."

Everything was great about the
place, the reservation, confirmation call, service and food. This place is a hidden gem. The music was a plus and it was perfect in sound and taste of songs."

Food arrived cool. Had to send
back the risotto. Salty...should have asked to hold the salt Everything was sort of bland Duck was cooked well and that was the highlight. Was there for a special Valentine's dinner...perhaps not their best showing"

Can't beat the view. Full moon
made it extra special. We shared 2 orders of Crab cakes, 1 bruschetta, 1 calamari appetizers all good, though there was enough salad with the crab cakes + bruschetta for 12 and crab cakes for 4. Main Course: My salmon was delicious. Husband's blackened sea bass was over cooked and nasty. He should have sent it back. Think they blackened it because it was old. "Southern shrimp/grits - ok. Grits were very bland. Fish/Chips looked very good. Waiter was very nice and attentive. Did a good job. Husband's fault he didn't send it back or complain. Waiter wasn't told so there was no opportunity to fix it. I would go back but my husband won't.after spending the night with a noisy stomach."

My wife and I have eaten lunches
and dinners at Rhumb Line a number of times and the food and service was always great. We took two of our neighbors to dinner a few nights ago and they were amazed at how great the food and service was during our visit. I believe that they will add it to their restaurant list. We all had different main course items and we shared the meat and fish for taste-testing. We had filet mignon, pork chop, salmon, and swordfish. All dishes were excellent and our friends were amazed at the food. This was their first trip to the restaurant. They'll be back no doubt. The restaurant had live music on Friday night that as also very good."

Since this lunch, was not packed,
we enjoyed the quiet. Beautiful day in Ventura, beautiful scenic view. Tasty food. We will be back."

This was almost the perfect night.
Food , Drinks, Service and Flowers I had sent were more than EXCELLENT. The bad part came about a half hour after arrival. I didn't know that music was a part of the evening, but a "Band" started setting up and tuning up.... Could not talk to my wife or guests...Two guitar players who went on to play Country Western and Bluegrass music for the next two hours (Very LOUDLY) The only break came when a Family friend of the owner decided she wanted to sing ACCA-PELLa (Voice Only). She was 11 years old but screeched out with a LOUD voice for about 10 minutes...(AWFUL)..what some parents won't do to satisfy their spoiled children. I will go again, but I will inquire first if a band will be there."

We have enjoyed Rhumb Line for
cocktails and dinner so decided to give it a try for brunch on Sunday. Very reasonably priced, standard breakfast menu items, well prepared. Really enjoyed the musician playing guitar and singing at moderate volume. Made for a very enjoyable Sunday morning overlooking the marina. Definitely will return for brunch!"

The location is nice good harbor
views. After the sun goes down so does the food it was terrible. I order the special rack of lamb and it was a wreak. Service was at best would you like more bread and now I understand fill the customer up on bread so they don't eat the food."

very pleasant dining
experience.great dishes, however, 3 entrees were unavailable or had run out; this was 7 o'clock on a Saturday night.we had seabass and shrimp and grits both incredible. Service was average to slow especially since restaurant was not crowded."

A great place! We celebrated our
anniversary there....beautiful setting, food was wonderful, server awesome, chef somewhat slow... but we were given complimentary dessert that was to die for....Cream Brulee Cheesecake! We will go back!"

From the hostess to the inal bill
from our waitress this was a top of line experience. We had a great seat right in front of the entertainment.(as requested in my on-line reservation!). We had our drinks right away, great explanations of the specials and even a visit from the Chef at our table to check on the excellent food! I had the lobster mac n cheese appetizer( ameal in itself) and my date had the fish and chips, definitely enough food for two to share with leftovers. Great experience will definitely be back!!"

We ate early on Christmas Eve. The
food was excellent. The lobster bisque was perfect and the rack of lamb (mustard crusted) was done perfectly, accompanied by a risotto-vegetable medley that was a flavorful excellent match for the lamb. Service was a little on the slow side, but all the wait staff were friendly and accommodating. The wine list wasn't extensive, but was reasonable. The restaurant is located by the docks in Ventura Harbor with a view out to Santa Cruz island. Dining at dusk has a great sunset view, and we were able to watch large sea lions broaching and pelicans diving for their dinners."
Dined on 12/24/2013
Christmas Eve dinner experience
was overall pleasant and delicious. However, greatly disappointed that they had run out of prime rib before 7pm and that the live music find not start until 830. The lamb was excellent. Service was good although the first course finished plates were not removed promptly. The receptionist and server were delightful. Lovely view. We'll go back."
Dined on 12/24/2013
food was good and good service.
will definitely returned. This is the second time we have dined there. For lunch and dinner. Saw harbor dolphins during lunch and evening dining was nice as the server was attentive but not intrusive. I had the salmon which was delicious."

The Rhumbline is an exceptional
restaurant. Beautiful views of the Harbor and ocean, and delicious food. The decor is fresh and inviting. A+"

We tried Rhrumb Line because it
looked nice from the website and we were not disappointed. It is like a mansion from the outside with festive lights and situated on the harbor. Our food was delicious - oysters good and duck with a tomato risotto - fantastic. Peter had scallops (5 large perfectly cooked) with blue cheese risotto. We especially appreciated the artistic plating andvample portions. Our waitress was a bit brusk, but did a good job."

Good dinner for Thanksgiving with
just a couple of gliches. The owners wife leaves you standing and is not a good hostess. She also insisted the door be left open creating a massive draft that was unpleasant. I was disappointed that when i made the reservation i was told it was turkey and or ham with prime rib $10 extra. We were given a slip that stated $7 extra if you wanted turkey and ham. I found that very misleading. The new chef has made massive improvements to the food and out waiter was fantastic. The owners just need to make a few little changes"
Dined on 11/28/2013
The view is amazing, but the food
is nothing special. I would not say it was bad, it was just not at all memorable. The food was passable, which is ok for lots of people, but for me I want meals to be memorable. A day after eating here I remember the view, which is amazing, but everything else was just average."

We were driving down the coast,
returning home from our vacation and thought we would be in Ventura around time for dinner. We got stuck in traffic and had to change our time 3 times. Thank goodness Rhumb line was understanding and worked with Open Table. We had a wonderful dinner. The appetizer of Sticky Calamari was suggested by our server, Alexander and was delicious. We then had a wonderful halibut dinner and fish and chips. Excellent service and the food was some of the best we've ever had. Looking forward to returning soon!"
Dined on 11/26/2013
Restaurant was quiet - we went on
a Tuesday evening. Waitress was very pleasant and chatty, but seemed forgetful and disappeared for long periods of time. We ordered cocktails. One of them tasted like an artificially flavored orange cordial drink. The other was stuffed full of foliage and cucumber and didn't seem to have a trace of alcohol in it. Pretty unpleasant. Anyway, the mussels appetizer was great - the highlight of the evening. Very tender and sweet. Unfortunately, dinner wasn't a hit. The sea bass was very dry and bland - reminded me of frozen fish. The risotto was a heavy, buttery lump. It's a shame - great location at the harbor. Lots of potential. Maybe it was just an off night."

We had a perfect table to watch
the sunset and enjoy top quality seafood MTV sea bass and my wife's salmon were both prepared perfectly service was attentive and friendly and they had live music made our dinner even more pleasant Only complaint was a long wait for drinks as the bartender was busy taking care of the crowded bar and neglected our waiter's Oder for about 15 minutes."

Rhumb Line is a restaurant with a
great view of the Ventura Harbor. Friendly and helpful servers and delicious food."

I enjoy going to Rhumb line very
much. The food is good and so is the service. I have brought many friends there and they all have enjoyed it very much. I recently brought two friends from Germany there for dinner and they loved it. It is so nice to have a good restaurant so close to home. I live in the mobil home park across the street so it is really convenient. We walked thee and back."

Friends suggested we meet there.
We loved it. Views of the harbor, great food, wonderful service, good prices. We will be back."
Dined on 10/21/2013
The server was great, polite and
attentive. So I put 5 stars. But it took a hour to get the food and it did not seem that busy, so that was a bit of a drag. But I will be back!"
Dined on 10/6/2013
Sadly, I was so disappointed. The
food was very mediocre--Ceasar, fish and chips. Service was unbelieveably slow and they had only 3 other tables to deal with. Although our server was very pleasant, she never came by to say your order is on the way. We had to track her down after about 1/2 hour to ask. THen when the food did arrive, it was nothing special--wilted lettuce and tasteless fish, I was mordified but too hungry to send it back. We made due. Sadly, in was a family get together with my kids to celebrate their birthday and we all drove almost an hour. Can't believe how wrong the reviews were. BTW, the view was very nice looking over the harbor."

This was our first visit to this
location since it reopened as Rhumb Line. It was outstanding. We split the onion soup...delicious...and had the swordfish special and the scallops entrees. Both were terrific. No dessert! Our server Kimmie was very attentive as was her helpers. WE had a window seat and a lovely view of the harbor and sunset. There was a small combo playing music, and the volume was perfect. Highly recommend."
Dined on 9/15/2013
We have been to this restaurant a
few times. The service is lacking. All the servers are nice and friendly, but a bit slow . It seems that they need a floor manager. It is very hard to get something when you need it. Maybe just understaffed. It took a really long time between salads and entrees, about 45mins. After getting a go box for leftovers, it took another 20 mins for us to get our bill. ??? We couldn't find our server. The good news is that you get a lot of food. The steaks were perfect this time. The Tuna Tartar was just so, so. No flavor. The lobster mac and cheese was incredible. I'd go back just for that."
Dined on 9/1/2013
I had read several reviews that
commented about slow service, but that definitely was not the case with us. We were seated promptly and received excellent service from our waitress. We had a great corner table with a sunset view as well as views of dolphins and seals in the harbor. The food was very tasty and moderately priced. We will definitely return."

So far we have dined at Rhumb line
about 6 times. We have enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere on every visit."
Dined on 8/26/2013
Very happy with this restaurant.
Food excellent, service good, atmosphere good, price moderate. Bar on other side of the room was noisy, but not obtrusive. Great view of the harbor. Setting sun was blinding and there were no shades to block it - we had to get another table."
Dined on 8/24/2013
I brought out-of-town guests to
this restaurant because they were curious and we could walk to dinner. We had a delightful meal, welcoming staff, great steaks and scampi entrees, wonderful service, appropriate and enjoyable live music. We will be back."
Dined on 8/11/2013
Enjoyed a great meal, wonderful
service and a spectacular view of the harbor! What more could I have asked for! Love this place!"
Dined on 8/10/2013
We appreciated the attention to
customer satisfaction the restaurant staff provided. The only thing (brought to the attention of the new manager) was that the menu on the website did not coincide with the menu at the restaurant. They were kind enough to offer to make a meal that was on the website but the outcome was not what was served. We also waited awhile for our food but they were attentive to our drink re-fills. I just assume the issues are with the cooking staff. Other than that, it was a place we would recommend."

As we were having guests in from
Holland, we decided to take them here Sunday nite. We ate late (for Oxnard) at 8pm and it was nearly empty but we had a nice table by the window thanks to Open Table/my request. They also acknowledged my husband's birthday (tastefully). We all had different dishes and all were superb. Our filets were cooked perfectly, with yummy mashed potatoes. The shrimp scampi was piping hot and very tasteful. Fish and chips were crispy and there was plenty. Our guests raved. Unfortunately the sunset was not visible due to low clouds but the setting was nice anyway. The staff were very friendly/helpful. The live piano was very pleasant and truly enhanced our evening, never overpowering. All in all, a wonderful evening."
Dined on 7/29/2013
This was our second time here. I
was very happy that they could seat our party of eight without a reservation on a Friday evening. The atmosphere was pleasant and energetic. The live band was okay, not bad but very "loungey". she had a good voice. Service was very slow this time. Not our experience last time. The food ranged from okay to very good. Our friends enjoyed the paella and other dishes very much. We had the lamb shank and blacked sea bass. The sea bass was tasty but, slightly overcooked. the lamb shank was just okay, not that tender. It seemed like it was cooked too fast. Everything else on the plate with the lamb was excellent. The fig was incredible and the potatoes delicious. We'll be back, hopefully with better service."
Dined on 7/27/2013
We were given the scenic view we
asked for and it was very scenic. The food selection was great, a lot of choices, and everything looked very interesting. The server agreed with the choice of wine was a good chardonay. The clam chowder was great, rich and thick. The heirloom Tuscan salad with calamari was very large but very tasty. Sea Bass and Halibit were the entree choices and very good ones. The sides were included and all the pairings were excellent. Dessert was a selection of cakes which after such a large dinner, seemed a bit on the heavy side. We had coffee and enjoyed the view. We would definately recommend the Rhumb Line for a memorable dinner."
