  • "First time I had the opportunity to try Eggs Benedict with a crab cake rather than plain crab on the english muffin. Also the option to have different sauces is a nice touch. The o'brian potatoes and grilled asparagus on the side were very good. A very nice brunch."

The service was outstanding -- I had called ahead and asked for special preparation on 2 of 4 meals and they were happy to accommodate. The quality of the food was great, ranging from vegetarian to various fish dishes. The Sangria was fabulous! There was a nice live singer who's voice did not overwhelm the dining experience and we were able to catch up with our friends over dinner without needing to shout. The waitress, Coco, was more than happy to go the extra mile for us. An added plus is the ability to ask for a booth overlooking the water."

  • "The quality of food has diminished over the past year or so. We looked at the lunch menu on their web site and found the prices to be inconsistent. The web site prices are cheaper for the lunch menu, so noticeably so that we asked if we had the lunch menu. Nobody is going to continue going there to pay $5 for a glass of tea. Same with other items. Salmon was not cooked properly."

  • "Service is always great from hostess to bus person to waiter. The food taste good, wish the cook didn't change the clam chowder also would be nice if there were a few more entrée to select from. Wonderful views of the harbor from any seat in the restaurant. Like the live music."

  • "We sat down then had to wait 10 minutes before they even asked use what we wanted to drink. Then another 13 before we got our drinks. our experince was a waiting game. At the end of the day the Food was exceptional, we were glade we stayed. We almost left since the service was taking so long and the restaurant was not busy at all. The bar however was full because of Happy Hour but they had a differnet server."

  • "My husband and I made online reservations for 6:00pm for Father’s day. The Rhumb Line Restaurant host called confirming our reservations and she also asked if we had a seating preference. She stated that since we were first time patrons she recommended a table by the window where we would have a great view of the harbor and the sunset, and still be able to listen to their lounge entertainer. The entertainer had a great repertoire of music that was perfect while dining and being able to hold conversations without being overwhelmed with loud music. The food was great. Ribeye and Filet Mignon was outstanding, but cornmeal mush we did not care for. The asparagus was wonderful. Best steaks I had in years. You will not be disappointed."

  • "Celebrated our anniversary at Rhumb Line. Host was a very nice man. Our waitress left much to be desired. Food prices were extremely high, I remember there being a different menu but may be they changed since we last came. Waitress was not as friendly as we hoped, we ended up just ordering appetizers and then going to dinner elsewhere. Waitress did not even offer us dessert. We may return in the future, but it was definitely a waste of our time."

  • "Relatives from LA and Santa Barbara met up here to celebrate Mother's Day, and Rhumb Line accommodated us perfectly at a roomy long table with padded bench seating along one side. Our waitress was upbeat and enthusiastic, even though she must have served numerous other customers on this busy holiday. This set the tone for our entire visit, in which we indulged for over 2 hours, without feeling rushed or nudged along. The musician was enjoyable, and helped to offset the cheerful noise offered by my granddaughter, who was well behaved but full of energy after her one hour in the car... The food was good, but what I really appreciated was the atmosphere. "

  • "My 3 friends from high school all traveled quite a distance to meet up for a day in Ventura. Someone at Chamber of Commerce suggested your restaurant. Our server ( young girl with beautiful red hair) was excellent and extremely accommodating. We ended up spending a lot of time at our table ( about 3 hours) and we never felt rushed, In fact, it was quite the contrary. We enjoyed our beautiful window seats and food. We plan to make this a regular event. "

  • "We were hesitant at first to try this place as we read some negative reviews about noise. We had a party of six and wanted to be able to talk and understand what was said. The noise level at 6 PM on a Friday happy hour night was moderate and we had a very nice table away from the HH crowd. We enjoyed the Clam Chowder and Crab Cakes so much we came back again two nights later for a repeat! Our four guests had swordfish and salmon entrees and they were very satisfied with their choices. Loved the view of harbor and activity on the docks. All in all, a fine experience! We'll return when in the area again."

There were only 4 scallops on my friend's plate, for dinner and the cost there should be maybe 2 more. Also we were asked if we wanted soup or salad and requested salads only to find out the salads were extra and not included in the dinner cost. Overall the place is ok, great view, but not much else."

Excellent views of the harbor and a great place to watch the sunset. The noise level was a little too loud because the restaurant has a lot of hard surfaces and I think everyone was trying to talk over the piano player but no complaints besides that."

  • "Our was great and came out in a timely manner, but our server was no where to be found most the night. They would have sold twice as many drinks if she was around. She also took forever bringing our drinks and even forgot what I ordered once. I don't know how the other servers are, but mine was not so good. The food was so amazing though so I guess I will have to deal with the service cause I'm going back."

  • "We love the spacious dining room. We're not big on bar scenes, but the wine list is above average. My husband is a wine collector & he is impressed with the quality of the fine wines. The food is a great treat to go with the wines. My husband had a steak that was a special that night, I had miso salmon crispy skin. We thought both dishes were exceptional. Thank you for helping with a great birthday celebration. I will recommend your restaurant to friends & family. They do ask us for recommendations because they know we are foodies."

  • "My daugheters (13 and 10) and I were looking for a special restaurant to enjoy "surf and turf" while vacationing in Ventura; We found the Harbor area very charming and the Rhumb Line was exactly what we were looking for. The the seafood in the bouillabaisse was succulent and tender. The fish and chips were crispy and seasoned perfectly. The duck was tender and delicious, (although more glaze would have put it over the top!) All in all a wonderful, special night for my girls and me."

  • "This was our 4th visit to Rhumb Line and we were disappointed this time. The server warned us that there was a large party being served and the food might be a bit slow in getting to us. What she didn't tell us is that she would bring out an undercooked, cold piece of swordfish TWICE to one of us. The rest of our dinners were fine and the drinks were good, but eating our dinners while our poor friend waited twice for her swordfish to be done correctly essentially ruined our dinner-she was finally served a done piece after we finished our dinners. No visit from the manager or offer of anything was forthcoming-I guess the server never informed anyone of the problem in the kitchen."

  • "Visited first time. Came with a friend. Ordered omelet,potatoes, pancakes and side of sausage. Omelet overcooked, brown,tough. Not really an omelet. More like overcooked fratata, with another overcooked fratata on top of it. Potatoes soggy, peppers and onions burned. Pancakes, thin as crepes. Arrived cold. The side of sausage was tough and cold, and we had to cut off the edge to get to the middle of the sausage to eat it. My companion was given fruit SAUCE to pour over them, instead of jelly or jam. The tomato slices were pale and tasteless. Will not come back here unless for the view only and a glass of water. OUR WAITRESS WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING. PROPS TO HER. Someone get a REAL chef in there!"

  • "My wife and I took friends to Rhumb Line for dinner twice now (different friends) and the food and service was excellent. On the latest trip to the restaurant, we had swordfish again and it was wonderful. All of the food was done beautifully, great service, and a relaxing atmosphere and beautiful view. We met the owner (Karen) and talked to her for a while. We really felt at home in the restaurant. She was great. Our friends loved the food (especially the swordfish dinner). We would recommend this place to anyone. Live music in the evenings with good talent. Needless to say, we love the place !! Can't wait to get more of those fresh oysters on the half-shell again !!"
