Diner Reviews
  • "Once again it was great evening, wiht fantastic food, excellent service and a friendly atmosphere. One of best Steak houses in Raleigh and the best value overall. Some of the high end chains are more expensive but no better than Rey's."

  • "The food was excellent. I only gave 4 stars because the beef tenderloin and shrimp which I had altho tasty, was a very boring dish. However, the chicken marsala, which my wife ordered was outstandingly delicious. The chopped salad and the romaine hearts salad were excellent. The chocolate raspberry truffle cake was wonderful and just the right portion for sharing. The service from the wait-staff was perfect."

  • "Normally a top drawer establishment. The service this time was significantly below our usual experience. The food preparation took an extremely long time and the sides appeared to be warmed over. Staff did not keep us informed of the status as three other families that arrived after us in the back seating area were served their dinner before us. The waiter spent a lot of time discussing tables where guest could be seated instead of tending to our needs. During the long wait for our food, our beverages were low and we had to continually contact other waiter staff for refills... as our person was other wise occupied. We will be back...but not for the same experience!:("

  • "The food was excellent! My husband had the lamb and I had veal marsala. I asked if the chef could omit the butter in my dish, and that was no problem. My husband is a crème brulee fan, and said it was awesome. We will go back for special occasions."

  • "Food and service is always wonderful. Love the slight menu variations with seasonal offerings."

  • "Our experience was good, but there were still flaws. Pros: lovely, clubby atmosphere. Perfect lighting for a romantic night, steaks were flavorful. Martini was delicious. Cons: my husband's steak was undercooked, mine was overlooked. This would have been fine except our waiter felt the need to explain not once, but twice what rare, medium rare, medium, etc meant at HIS restaurant. We are in our 50's and not "new" at this. In addition, our " jumbo" shrimp cocktail was at best medium and had very little flavor. This is common with previously frozen seafood. All in all, we did enjoy our night out. However, there are many wonderful restaurants in the Raleigh area that specialize in steak. We won't be rushing back."

  • "Rey's is reliably excellent in all areas -- service, food and cuisine. Delicious cocktails and an outstanding wine list added to our enjoyment. We highly recommend the Oscar Tornedos and for dessert, the Bananas Foster (the best outside New Orleans). Kelly's service was relaxed, friendly and non-obtrusive."

  • "We have eaten here several times and have enjoyed it. The food and presentation is consistent and good. Prices are reasonable for a special occasion night out, and the menu covers all the basics. This is maybe not the place to go for foodies looking for interesting and adventurous eats, but is a great night out for a couple or a couple friends. Of course, no visit is complete without the Cherries Jubilee or the Bananas Foster!"

  • "The staff could not have been more accommodating to two handicapped seniors. A rear e restaurant that has table arm chairs"

  • "Best high-end value restuarant in Cary area. Hands-down better value than Ruth Chris or Angus Barn."

  • "Food was amazing. My wife and I split the ribeye and three sides which was more than plenty! Also enjoyed a nice bottle of wine. Even the bread at the table was great! The price is high, but it is on par with the level of service and type of foods offered. Putting ANY type of steak sauce on the meat would've ruined it, the flavor itself was THAT great! We definitely recommend the sauteed mushrooms and mashed garlic potatoes! We will definitely be coming back for special occasions!"

  • "We always enjoy Rey's. Best streak house in the triangle. Make sure you order the table-side prepared Bananas Foster for dessert. Can't be beat!."

  • "As usual Rey's provided a wonderful meal, outstanding service and a romantic environment for celebration of my wife's birthday. Rey stopped by our table several times, ensuring our satisfaction, while Scott, Jim and David provided service that was exceptional. We were greeted with hugs upon arrival, as it had been a while since we had been in. Our request for a specific booth was honored and waiting, and Scott, our usual waiter was first to the table. Rey's is our favorite place for special dinners, and the food cannot be beat at any price anywhere. We definitely recommend Rey's for a wonderful experience."

  • "My wife and I dined at Rey's last Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. The service was very good and food was outstanding. I had the 16 oz NY Strip which was excellent. My wife had a filet she enjoyed very much. Cherries Jubilee for desert was a nice way to wrap up a delicious meal."

  • "All in all an average experience for the price. I wouldn't avoid it if invited by friends but neither would I recommended it."

  • "Found Rey's to be a very good place to get a huge meal or one to be shared with spouse...makes is more affordable. Their steaks (NY Strips) are too big for one to eat at 16oz, great to half and it was an excellent cut of meat, prepared perfectly. The family style sides are nice to share as well, too much to get two sides and eat all without sharing. The dessert of Chocolate Truffle was also outstanding, great raspberry sauce...also too rich to eat alone. Glad sharing is allowed. only negative was somewhat lack of attention of waitstaff. no one came by to see how the meal was, was all delivered...a drink was not brought and not real chance to request without flagging wait staff. bus boy came by often before main to keep water full."

  • "25 minute wait with a reservation. The ambiance is a little loud, but tolerable. Most everyone in the restaurant was well dressed. I ordered the special "22 ounce bone-in Ribeye" and got it Oscared(with crab, asparagus and hollandaise sauce) - Fantastic. My wife got the blackened Tuna steak(it was really big). We ordered some asparagus for a side dish. We finished the meal with some French press coffee and bread pudding. There was a fruit flambé with ice cream that Rey was cooking table-side. That looked really good. Bill was $129 with drinks and desert. The food was totally worth the price of admission. I would definitely go back, but if I make a reservation and they don't keep it, they could lose me as a patron."

  • "We enjoyed the French Quarter Chicken and Tournedos with Au Gratin Potatoes and bananas foster for dessert. It was the best chicken and steak I've ever had. The dessert was amazing. The food was superb. The service was just as good. Overall the best dining experience either of us has had."

  • "Just recently visited during Restaurant Week and took our 16 and 13 year old. We always use this week as an opportunity to expose our kids to finer dining experiences since the typical meal out with them is on the run and usually a little less formal. Rey's was a perfect choice this time around and our server was the best. Rey's has been added to our family's preferred list of special places for special times."

  • "My wife and I went here for the first time during Triangle Restaurant week on our anniversary. The ambience of the place was absolutely outstanding. It was so quiet that we felt that whispering would be too loud. The food itself was absolutely amazing. We would recommend the turtle soup, the filet mignon, salmon, and of course, the bananas foster dessert. They cook the bananas foster right in front of you, so it's dinner and a show! It also makes the other patrons jealous. I would recommend this to any couple looking for a fancy evening of great food and good times. Plus, you can't go wrong with waiters that wear tuxedos!"

  • "My wife and I went for Restaurant Week. The tables in the dining area weren't on top of each other, giving you the chance to have a conversation at your table without listening to others. We started with the Caesar salad & gumbo. Both were very good. For the entrees, we went with the salmon & filet mignon. The salmon was top notch, the steak could have been cooked a little longer. Desserts were the bread pudding & chocolate raspberry cake. Both capped off our meal in fine fashion. We wine list have many choices throughout all price levels and was of good quality. Our server, Angelo, was knowledgeable with some personality thrown in. We will return and would recommend to anyone looking for a special occasion place to dine."

  • "Our first time at Rey's and we will definitely go back. A former Ruth's Chris, the restaurant exudes ambience and the wait staff is terrific. We went during restaurant week and had the set menu - it was delicious. The theme of the food has a New Orleans flair which we really enjoyed. The portions were large - we all took home part of our meals. Looking forward to another visit."

  • "As always, Rey's was exceptional. From the adult beverages to the appetizer, main course, side and of course dessert! Even during restaurant week, everything was prepared perfectly! I still contend that the Creme Brulee prepared and served by Rey's is the worlds finest Creme Brulee! David, our wait staff professional, was exceptional as always. Quiet, attentive, and a real joy to interact with."

  • "Good service (Rey will come hang and make you bananas foster) and great food for your basic, upscale cuisine. Nothing too out of the box if you're not an adventurous eater. Only complaint was that we waited a bit too long for a reserved table. But we were also late. "
