Diner Reviews
  • "Sat outside on spacious patio. Pork tenderloin was recommended and ordered. It was delish. Waitress was very attentive."

  • "I like everything about Resto. However, I do think the menu should be slightly expanded in the number and variety of offerings (both appetizers and entrees)."

  • "I lunched recently at Resto Gastro Bistro and dined on the deck. The service was great. I had the sole. The fish was good, but the portion was tiny for $16 at lunch. I would estimate it to be one-third the size of a typical piece of sole served at dinner. The sole was served with a scattering of garbanzo beans and a few petit tomatoes. I don't know that I would go back for lunch because the food was not sufficiently memorable for the price."

  • "I'm beginning with the end-- a fabulous pumpkin cheesecake with gingercookie crust was so perfect, we bought another to take home. These are made on premises from family recipes and are moist and creamy. The pear salad was nice, but could have used more than the 1 small pear slice we found in it. Veal cheeks were delicious on the creamy potatoes, though the sauce was a bit heavy on them. Our waiter was knowledgeable with just the right amount of attentiveness and the owner stopped by twice. Atmosphere was fun -- this is a "restaurant mall" venue at Trinity Groves, and there were plenty of outdoor tables. Leave the kids at home and relax."

  • "The food was good, lots of variety and fun flavors! When looking at menus for the restaurants in Trinity Groves, I liked this menu best. There really is something for everyone; not overly adventurous, but simple twists on classic dishes. The patio was awesome and has a great view of downtown Dallas. Plus, its dog friendly! They even brought out a bowl of fresh water and some treats for our 4 legged companion. All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful."

  • "Made reservation - seated on time. Serviced timely. Waiter provided great input on the selection of wine and meal and scored on both fronts. A little loud - open seating is great for people watching and feeling like you're part of a bigger group - but noise carries, so it can be hard to talk."

  • "We chose Trinity Groves as the destination for lunch with friends from out of town. After reading the descriptions of all the restaurants and their individual food styles, we chose Resto Gastro Bistro because the menu items sounded "familiar" but in an interestingly updated presentation. Each of us ate every bite! Our reservation was 11:30, and we were the first guests on the scene. But by the time we left, almost every outdoor table was filled. ( I really can't comment on the interior of the restaurant because I never went inside.) Our particular server was very good and said he gave up another career because he really likes being friendly to guests; he cheerfully answered every question we asked. Highly recommend."

  • "The selection and service were both tremendous! A great addition to the Dallas dining scene! Eclectic appearance and vibe!"

  • "We came to Resto for our anniversary. Good selection and well prepared, attractive food."

  • "Ate here for the first time on a Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A friend and I split the sea bass and ordered the pears and blue cheese salad along with root vegetables and a decadent lemon goat cheese polenta. While it's rich, I could have licked the polenta plate clean but I tried to demonstrate some restraint...and dignity. It is a public place, after all. I look forward to going back. The vibe is cool enough inside that I'm not sure I would do the patio seating unless the outdoor temps are too tempting to resist."

  • "Not much of a meat eater, but the pork shank was the best thing we ate on menu. Service was terrific and the ambiance was too. Great to see such a scene in Dallas... much appreciated,"

  • "Our group of 4 enjoyed an early Sunday evening dinner. Since it was early in the evening, the restaurant was quiet which enabled conversation. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. He brought us tastes of 2 wines when we couldn't decide which one to order. The appetizers and main courses were tasty and well-prepared but not outstanding. Prices were fair. We didn't try dessert. Our experience was very pleasant, so I say Resto Gastro Bistro is definitely worth a try!"

  • "Appetizers were so good we considered just skipping entre's and doing another round. Hack salad was a big hit with our party and so were the lobster corn dogs. The veal cheeks were melt in your mouth tender and so delicious. The pumpkin cheesecake was the best and the profiteroles were served in a warm pool of lush chocolate sauce. Yummy. You can tell, this isn't the first rodeo for this chef. Can't wait to go back."

  • "There are plenty of choices to grab a bite in Trinity Groves culinary center and this one is a great stop. We visited on Sunday for brunch with friends. The restaurant design is welcoming, clean and simple. The staff is very friendly and attentive and handled special requests without hesitation. The service was not rushed and we felt welcome to stay as long as we like. Extra points for "the best burger I've ever had." That from a well seasoned traveler and burger gastronome. Vegetable omelette and quiche were also great. (Less salt in the quiche, please!) Portions, overall taste and presentation all very good! Next time, I'm hitting the DIY Bloody Mary bar!"

  • "Our supper club found this restaurant to be exceptional. The service was great. The food not only was taste great but the presentation was very nice. We would like to go back for dinner on the patio,"

  • "Had never even heard of Trinity Groves until the day before I went here. Will definitely be going back. We had several good choices of restaurants but the menu at Resto grabbed our attention. Had to try the lobster corn dogs just out of curiosity. They were ok but doubt I would have again. The short rib and sea bass entrees were excellent and the wine was very reasonably priced . Chef was a very friendly guy and I give him high marks for coming around and engaging with the customers ."

  • "Three of the seven people at my table sent their entrees back because they were not cooked to the prescribed temperature. The whole dining experience was very unremarkable."

  • "Our waiter, Kyle, knew the menu well and guided us to a perfectly cooked steak and the sea bass was also terrific. The presentation was beautiful. We'll be back to try the brunch soon and sit out on the inviting patio!"

  • "There were five in our group. We loved the taste and presentation of the food. Menu had good selections. Service was good and wait staff was attentive. We had a salt carmel chocolate tart for desert that was heavenly. Had a wonderful wine (Freakshow, Cabernet). We will definitely return."

  • "We came out here for my bridesmaids to all get to know each other better and it was great! Kasey was great and fast, the whole restaurant acted as a team to make our service seamless."

  • "We loved our dinner at Resto. The building is decorated nicely, the lighting is perfect and the food was delicious. We started with the pear and cheese salad. Yum. I could have used more pieces of pear, but the cheese was in a battered ball that melted in your mouth. I had the filet for dinner and it was cooked perfectly and sat atop 4 potato croquettes and a fabulous sauce. the filet was about 6 oz., so just the right size so that you are not stuffed after eating. The sauce was so delicious I could have licked the plate! My husband had the cast iron pork loin and it was fabulous as well. We were seated in a corner so the noise level was not bad, but in the middle of the restaurant it is likely quite loud as the floors are concrete."

  • "Highly recommend the short ribs and pork shank. Delicious , unfortunately they arrived cold due to poor service coordination. We saw them bring out the entrees while we were still eating our salads. Server turned around and took them back to the kitchen. Drinks were slow in arriving . When they get the kinks worked out, this will be a great place. Food is excellent."

  • "The menu here is excellent. A great variety of entrees and ingredients that make each dish unique. My filet was cooked exactly as specified and had amazing flavor. Pork belly appetizer is not to be missed. The restaurant was very busy during our visit, so our server was a bit slow to arrive to our table. Once he arrived everything went very smoothly. He knew the menu well and offered suggestions when asked. Due to the layout of the restaurant, it was not easy to see the hostess stand. On good weather days, they should put it outside the doors to make it easier to find."

  • "This was a very special first date for me. We had a fantastic time! And the food was delicious. If you have a big appetite you'll need to have a starter first. We sat inside to eat, but there was a fire outside, so we moved out there. It was beautiful being warmed by the fire, gazing at the sea of dreamlike trees covered in lights, and being watched over by the skyline of downtown Dallas. We even had a perfect view of the Reunion Tower light show. Definitely a place to enjoy for a romantic date."

  • "Excellent lunch, although I thought the entree of sole was rather small. For the price, the portions should be larger. Also, heavy glare coming off the front windows that made it hard to see and talk with lunch companions. Still a nice place, though, and would recommend."

  • "I leave very few reviews but when a restaurant is this good, it needs to be said. Went here on a date and staff was very accomodating (helped me hide a gift before she arrived, brought it on cue). Not to mention Clint at the bar mixing drinks tailored to our tastes. We felt tended to, but not overly hovered over, just right. Ambience was excellent for talking, good music, not too loud. Food was fantastic - lobster corn dog and seared wagyu beef were perfect starters. Pork tenderloin and filet for entrees cooked just right. Looking forward to visitng again. Hopefully it will be warmer and we can sit outside and enjoy the view."

  • "Beef stew was terrible. Pear salad was all right (may want to rethink the blue cheese balls). Friend had lemon sole dish. It was very yummy. Staff was great! First time to try Resto. I would be willing to give it another shot."

  • "So the Trinity Groves area has exploded thanks to Romano's investment, and Resto Gastro is a highlight. I hear the night/weekend crowds are abysmal, and parking certainly will be an issue, so come for lunch. The decor somehow manages to be hip AND Texan at the same time, country-chic, and the menu was a treasure map of delectable delights. I tried the burger apprehensively at the suggestion of our server, it was surprisingly fantastic, managing to stand out in proximity to the local Elevation, Twisted Root and Village burger. There were several other intriguing things on the menu, and the cup of vegetable beef soup I had as a starter was top-notch. I'll be back, schedule your second visit well before your first. Don't miss this place!"

  • "Went with a group of 8 before going to the Kessler! Our first time. We all loved our food selections. The Caesar salad presentation was unique and the salad and anchovies were yummy as were the pear and bleu cheese salad was delicious! Our entrees included the lamb shank, veal cheek, sole, twisted chicken piccata and braised short ribs all were OUTSTANDING! The only selection we were not too crazy about was the lobster corn dog? Soggy lobster, if that's possibly, great chips. We will return!"

  • "The whole experience was awesome! Trinity Groves is a very emerging spot and this place fits right in. If you love farm to table type restaurants combined with excellent chef driven combinations of flavors, this place will be right up your ally. Not a huge wine list but I am a wine fanatic and the selection they have is good. I did note another reviewer that had a beef with waiting beyond the reserved time. This happened to us as well but not quite long enough to complain. The whole place was awesome but they definitely need a more experienced hostess. Don't let that sway you away from this place though because you'd be missing out on a fantastic restaurant. I may suggest mirrors along the back wall for those of us who face it :)"

  • "We recently went for my wife's birthday. The food was great. The waiter was correct about the veal cheeks ("you don't need no teeth as is melts in your mouth"). The corn bisque pasta was a great trite on pasta. My wife normally does not like bread pudding, but we both loved the roasted pear bread pudding. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Our party of four was quite a bit older than a lot of the patrons in Trinity Meadows area. We found Restro lively enough for the younger crowd but also very pleasant for those of us who wanted to visit over a nice meal. Food was better than we expected! We'll go again."

  • "at Trinity Groves. We went to our fifth restaurant at Trinity Groves and were not disappointed. The food was creative and delicious, the service attentive but not cloying and we had an informative visit with one of the owners. All and all a great experience. For those who thought the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge was the bridge to no where, they need to cross it and then they'll learn it's the bridge to the future."

  • "The ambiance (trendy and moderately upscale without being pretentious) and service are both outstanding - both perfect for a nice date night out. The cocktail offerings are also top notch. The food was good, but in some instances sounded better than it tasted (e.g., the lobster corndog, and the batter on the tempura rock shrimp seemed more cornmeal consistency than tempura). Nonetheless, the food was still pretty good, and overall the restaurant is a great new find to which I'll happily return."

  • "My date and I ordered the same dish of the Ahi Tuna and let me just summarize.....it was the best ahi tuna I've tasted ever in my life! You may need to get a reservation because it was packed on a Saturday night. The service was also excellent and very friendly!"

  • "not there yet. My wife and I went for Valentines Day. The restaurant is in the new Trinity Grove area and is worth checking out. We ate inside but the patio looked like a great place to hang out with friends on a nice evening. Cocktails were good especially the chili margarita. The waiter recommended the veal cheeks. They were kind of gross I thought. We took a fish dish home to my son and he loved it. Service was good. Atmosphere is pretty good. I would call it casual chic. We will try it again but I am not sold yet."

  • "Appetizers and dessert was very good. Entrees were not memorable. Had the roasted pork and pig skins were super hard, my friend had the filet and it was overcooked (he ordered it medium) and my husband had the sole which was good but not amazing."
