  • A Birthday Well Spent

My family and I dined this week to celebrate my birthday and it was all of our first times to Resto. Even though it was a Tuesday there was a decent crowd. We started with some great cocktails off of the menu that were very well made and worked with all of our different tastes. We started with the Crab Cakes and Charcuterie Plate. We split a few pear and cheese salads that featured a fried ball of blue cheese. After pouring over the main courses we ordered some fillets and the pork shank. Both very nice. I had the filet and it would rival any steakhouse but with some additional flair of unconventional seasonings of red chili and honey. For Dessert we shared a seasonal pumpkin tiramisu. The tiramisu was one of the best I have ever had.

Going to be honest, the service left a bit to be desired, but we are going to chock it up to an off night. The food though, beyond made up for any lack in service. This was one of my Top 3 meals of ALL TIME. The presentation was beautiful and the food was absolute perfection

  • Saturday Night at Resto

Our server (Israel) was a really great all-around server. We love the patio at Resto Gastro, especially the rocking chairs near the fire pit. Atmosphere and decor are great. Food and drinks: I order a $9 Resto Mule and a $8 vodka soda. The mule was delicious but neither drink had any alcohol. I didn't expect it to be strong, but this was incredibly weak so I felt a little irritated that it was $8-9. Before ordering the vodka soda, I was hoping for a draft beer but they only have 2 choices and both are hoppy. The ceasar salad was delicious but laughably small. I don't regret it b/c it was so good but it'd be hard to recommend to a friend. We ordered the Red Chili Honey steak and the Corn Bisque Chicken pasta. Both were just okay.

A friend and I dined here on a Saturday evening. The menu has a big variety of choices and we shared several starters and a couple of entrees. I really enjoyed the setting and the staff were very helpful, professional and friendly. We were seated in the outside space which was busy, but relaxing, and a great vantage point for people watching. I will definitely return and try other dishes.

We came to Resto for a pre-theater meal. The weather was perfect for sitting outdoors, which we did. I do wish they would turn down the very loud music, which is at a level that forces everyone at your table to raise their voices to be heard. We had the lobster corn dogs, which were unimpressive. Deconstructed Caesar salad looked good; our friends ate every bite. I ordered the filet, medium rare, and it came out barely cooked. Totally rare inside, no pink. I asked for it to be put on the grill for ONE minute more, and to not redo the rest of the plate - I'm not fussy. TEN minutes later, my meal came back out, totally remade. By that time, the others had finished their entrees. Not fun. Spicy margarita was great.

Really disappointed by how our reservation was handled. We had a 5 top and wanted to sit near the open patio doors in the restaurant but weren't allowed to -- even though the restaurant was almost completely empty. The patio was full, but there were only 2 or 3 tables with people in the restaurant where we sat. There was no effort to push tables together or accommodate us. The best thing about the experience was our cocktails. Everything else was ok/average. The pork belly was disappointing -- couldn't taste the kimchee gastrique. The sea bass was good (I think Truluck's does a better job, though), the grouper was good, the vegetables with the short ribs were undercooked. Boring dessert menu so went to Cake Bar around the corner.

Lots of choices, but chose "Resto" for celebratory gathering. Large tab, but no birthday-candled gratis dessert offered. Dinner following evening at chain, "Outback Steakhouse" - mentioned we were on a birthday road trip and carrot cake arrived - no charge. "Resto" could learn...

There were 3 of us and we each had something different for brunch. Each dish was fabulous. The chef's omelette, steak and eggs and my favorite the chicken and waffles. The RGB Mimosa was so awesome and although I didn't try one, there is a great Bloody Mary bar. The wait staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great.

We highly recommend Resto Gastro. We went for a quick pre-party bite but ended up with a full meal. I loved the atmosphere is very casual -- just like a British Pub with a modern update. However, the food was definitely not pub food. I had delicious combinations of favors and fresh presentations of classics. The doors open up on a nice night for a outdoor feeling but the patio is amazing. Plus... the service was PERFECT!

Love the decor and would describe it as a little bit rustic but elegant. Have enjoyed lunches here and was curious to try/see the place at dinner. Staff is very welcoming. Waitress made an excellent wine by the glass recommendation. Creative plating of their Caesar salad, but not just a gimmick as it's also very good. I had scallops, which were one of their specials that night and were perfectly cooked and delicious. My friend had the beef filet that's on the menu and really enjoyed it. Wanted to try the lemon cheesecake, but no room. I will be back!

The atmosphere was great - relaxed and nice. The service was great - waiter checked on us enough but not too much. The food was good - crab cake/artichoke appetizer was DELISH and the wine was great. My main dish was good but not great - I ordered something I'd never had before (pork shank), so it's possible that the particular dish is just not something I like as much, but it was still good.

We were a party of four dining after a concert at the Meyerson. The food was excellent. We had the tenderloin, Seabass, pork shank, and the Asian chicken salad. All was very good. The Seabass was my least favorite. Our server was not as attentive as I would have preferred, but we did get everything we needed. They weren't very busy on this Thursday evening, and sometimes that lends itself toward less attentive service. It's hard to balance being overly attentive or just right when things are slow. The outdoor patio was awesome. I would go back.

Overall, the experience was great. Since this is close to our neighborhood, we've been wanting to try it. But, weekends at this place are so busy. We went on a Thursday night. There was still a crowd, but not as hectic. We're not meat eaters, so we opted for the scallop special and the garbanzo bean encrusted grouper. Everything was beautifully presented. I strongly recommend the shrimp tempura appetizer and the entree dishes; however, next time we'll skip the crab cakes. They were small balls that were deep fried, which took away from the crab flavor. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The weather was cooling, so we got to sit outside, which was a bonus. We will go back to try some of the other interesting items on the menu.

This restaurant has great food, but the service is terrible. After going at lunch, the food had me hooked. I returned for dinner on a Saturday night. The food was spectacular, but the service was AWFUL. I returned the next night. The food was good, but the service was bad. Again. I think I figured out the problem. The don't have any bus people, at all and they don't have enough servers.

Good overall experience. Met for lunch on a Saturday, was not busy at all. My Tai chicken salad was refreshing, and someone ordered the lobster corny dogs which were surprisingly good. Service was great, only annoyance was the random lost group of Trinity Grovers who would walk through the entire restaurant asking for directions to another restaurant. I know. This is just an unfortunate side effect of the restaurant's location, and the staff was always helpful to these people. Would definitely come again, hopefully when it gets cooler so I can sit on the patio.

In my first visit to Resto Gastro Bistro I went with an open mind as I had heard nothing other than good feedback aboutvirtually all the venues at Trinity Groves. Having an Open Table reservation was worthless as it took us 30 minutes to get seated. So not the best first impression. Also the noise level was horribly loud - so not a good romantic date option. It was quieter on the patio, but at 100+ degrees that was not an option. The appetizers were so-so, with crab cakes (they werent even cakes) that were way too much cake and not enough crab. And the seared beef was really carpaccio (i.e. raw with no sear) so two failed menu descriptions. The entrees however redeemed all and blew us away with creative premium quality fare. Yum!

We asked the waitress about the recommended drinks and ordered a couple. We had to send them back because they were too fruity. The sangria fresca was horrible. Supposed to be a watermelon drink but aweful. The other person ordered a drink that tasted like a bartles and James wine cooler. We sent them back and stuck with wine and liquor on the rocks. Food was amazing. Lobster corn dog is delightful as well as pasta. Sea bass was one of the best ever.

Must make a reservation and try this place if you have not been here! The filet was not only tender but the sauce on it made it scrumptious! For dessert, we had the special. It was a peach bread pudding with habanero infused vanilla sauce - I think. But no matter what it was, it was incredible. Let your taste buds have a party and try these two items. Love the Trinity Grove area/concept!Ordered tempura rock shrimp appetizer but shrimp was burnt & had that burnt taste. Didn't have a light "tempura" batter either. Waitress asked how it was so we told her & a few minutes later, the Sous chef was at our table & apologized & said it would be taken off our bill.I love it when places do this bc it shows that they care about the quality of their food & understand that they need repeat customers! Sea bass was like butter-perfectly cooked & complimented well w/ rice. Ahi tuna was rare but not cold and my husband liked that too! Had a peach/raspberry bread pudding w/ vanilla ice cream that was good but not great. Ordered a moscow mule but they floated grenadine on top-it was awful & NO copper mug!

The food was good but not great. My entree was delicious but my salad was soggy. Then they didn't even bring a side dish we asked for. We decided we didn't care because it took too much effort to get it. I won't rush to go back.
