Restaurant506 at The Sanford HouseWish I Could Give 6 StarsI really would prefer not to give this praise to the Restaurant506 as it our favorite restaurant in the Metroplex and too many people might start showing up and making less wonderful. When you arrive, you are graciously met and show a table. (The table for two in the front dining area is just superb.) After enjoying just looking at the nice fixtures, walls and funiture, a waiter shows and begins to give the best service possible. After our drinks were served, we were offered a small appetizer as we made decisions. The food is exquisite. The steaks are prepared exactly as ordered and are just the best. I was greatly impressed by the quaint atmosphere, locality and the delicious food. The leadership works hard to please. The attention and service are proof thereof. My wife and I dined for a special occasion: my graduation from the local university! Wait staff was attentive but not overly so. We were not rushed nor did we have to wait to long before each course. We started with the pork medallion and ahi tuna appetizer, both were excellent. I had the special of the evening which was a petite New York strip cooked to perfection with poached lobster in a champagne sauce, very very good. My wife had the tea smoked salmon which also was very good. We topped off the evening with their bread pudding and, coming from New Orleans, it was outstanding. This Bed and Breakfast is amazing. We had a crusted halibut with asparagus and potatoes and it was heavenly. The ambience was perfect with an old Victorian feel to the surroundings and some Frank Sinatra playing in the background. We will now come here. Thurs is a good day to go if you want the place to yourself.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSanFord House Spectacular Brunch!I drive by here everyday to go home and the place is so lovely, when I saw that they were having an Easter Brunch, I had to try it. The salmon, steak and rack of lamb were all rated some degree of "wonderful!" by our party and the asparagus that accompanied our dishes was the best that I've had in a restaurant in several years. The desserts, which included a cappacino infused creme brulee and and tiramasu with raspberry filling were fantastic.
Sanford House itself resides in a beautifully converted Victorian house. Check - A bite of Salmon with a great sauce (varies from night to night); Appetizer? Check - Duck, marinated with another great sauce (this could easily be an entree!) Sorbet? Check - Where else do you routinely get a sorbet to cleanse your palate before the entree? Entree? Check - Short rib - Great!; Sea bass - Great! Dessert? Check - Chocolate Destruction - WOW! Dinner accompanied by a great bottle of wine..... Excellent five course meal - Very reasonable. This was definitely worth the drive from Dallas! Very few places in Dallas can match this, without spending at least twice as much. The reservation request, food accommodations, table service and ambiance all rated outstanding. Our waiter was attentive and a special request for a custom cake was made by the Chef which was enjoyed by all.
