We love the food especially the TASTING MENU. We have been there before. We were 3 people, 2 of us wanted to get the tasting menu and 1 wanted to get a single dish. The waiter (tall Caucasian guy) had more than suggested to us, for all of us to get the tasting menu. He told us. we might not get served together if we do not get the tasting menu. The place was busy and it took 2.5 hours from the moment we went in (6:30PM) until we paid. The waiter told us it took so long because we did not order the 3rd tasting menu. ( It sounded like: I TOLD YOU SO). He was not a friendly waiter but everyone else was.

We were a table of 3 who opted for the tasting menu which was a mistake. Service was very slow, unenthusiastic and uncaring. There was absolutely no hustle even though the restaurant was full. We asked for an explanation of the meal and got shorthand answers which added to the confusion The food was mixed. A teeny, tiny serving of soup was flavorful but insulting at the price the rest of the appetizers were skimpy. I feel that we got short changed on the quantity because we were a group of 3 rather than 2. The trout baccalaureate was excellent though tiny Entrees when they arrived was also very small. He fish was good, steak ok Our neighbors ordered off the regular menu and seemed to have more generous servings.

The only thing lacking at this restaurant is competent and consistent front-of-the-house-management. The food, decor, ambiance are all perfect but service is consistent ONLY in its slowness. The very small wait staff seem to be somewhat inexperienced.

I have been here a total of three times. I really enjoy the flavors, combinations of grains with meats, and the casual atmosphere. I look forward to meals here. I had the oxtail and thought this was one of the best versions of this dish. Look forward to many more meals here. Of note, I wish the wine list were more extensive.

We tried Radio Africa based on good reviews, unfortunately our experience did not show them to be warranted. There was nothing special about the food, ambiance was non existent,a crowded table made it noisy and there is little room between the tables. This maybe a case where people overrate based on the intention behind the restaurant rather then anything else This maybe a case where

I was disappointed, frankly. For the value of my Travelzoo voucher ($55) the food was not great, and the service was pretty sloppy. Our server had trouble explaining what the ingredients were, and said we would get some "injera" bread on the side, only to backtrack that they have white bread only. And the atmosphere wasn't great either, it was Saturday night and the restaurant was pretty empty. At 10pm the turned off all the lights and started cleaning up -- made my friend and I feel rushed to leave. I liked the modern art on the walls tho.

Had the seasonal tasting menu. Food was delicious from start to finish, with the strong flavors that I really enjoyed. Was a little expensive but I'm a fan of Chef Aseged's commitment to being in Bayview and a part of that community, and I like supporting that vision.

We have been talking to go to Radio Africa and Kitchen for quite a while and finally went with our daughter and her boyfriend this last week. Every single bite of every single dish on the tasting menu was amazing and like nothing we've ever had before. It was one of the best meals we've ever had anywhere in any country at any time in our lives. The personal welcome from the chef/owner, who was happy to answer questions about ingredients, just made it that much more special. I wish we did not live an hour away!

The tasting menu for two consisted of 5 courses and desert. The beauty of the food was an assortment of unique flavors which evoked distant recollections of familiar tastes. The smoked trout bacala was creamy smooth and moist - and not too salty - a wonderful aroma. The mushroom crostini and the corn soup were made from relatively ordinary ingredients and yet hit the palate with uncommon surprise. The lamb was pan African - reminiscent of Mediterranean and East African cuisine. The first bite brought a smile of contentment to both faces. The fish (barramundi) was succulent, just the right flavor so as not be overwhelmed by the lamb dish. The desert was the most ordinary dish - chocolate decadence cake with strawberries - delicious.

This little spot may be the pioneer for other great independently owned businesses in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood. Eskender offers a really unique menu with a friendly staff. Food was delicious offering exposure to new spices and foods I was unfamiliar with. Comfortable atmosphere. I hope this paves the way for other unique businesses in that area. I recommend.

This place was absolutely wonderful. I've never been compelled to write a review before dining here, but I wanted other people to know that this is the best value for your money you will find in San Francisco. The food is healthy, unique, and amazingly executed. And the two servers we had were so welcoming. The chef stopped by the table to answer questions and welcome us as well. Purely fantastic dining experience. Well worth the trip off the beaten path.

The food was great! I just wished they didn't sit us so close to two other couples when the place wasn't even busy. I did the tasting menu and I felt like the first couple of courses came out too quickly, rushed in a way. The neighborhood is "interesting" too. I would recommend taking the bus, not driving.

This was our 5th time to Radio Africa Kitchen since it established itself at 4800 3rd street. The food is delicious, with wonderful ingredient and spice pairings making for surprising, vibrant & very tasty dishes. We've taken adventuresome and less adventuresome dining companions along with us and everyone has been pleased. The service is personal, caring and overall very good, and the chef himself always drops by. This is a sweet find and worth the mini-trek required.

The food and service are excellent. I enjoyed the tasting menu ($48 per person) and was treated to some truly spectacular dishes. The prices are on the high side (for me--I tend to stay in the under-$50-for-two-people range), but the food was good enough to make me consider dining here again. Parking is on-street and can be a challenge, but the restaurant is right across from the Muni station (Third Street/Oakdale/Palou on the KT line). Overall, a wonderful dining experience!
