A word from Felidia
Felidia is located in a converted Brownstone on 58th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Opened in 1981 by Lidia Bastianich, Felidia offers a warm atmosphere where you can still find Lidia greeting guests and fans.

Executive Chef Fortunato Nicotra has been with Felidia since 1996 and has brought an innovative touch to traditional ingredients and dishes from all the regions of Italy.

Some of the restaurant's signature dishes include pear and fresh pecorino ravioli, veal shank ossobucco and limoncello tiramisu.
Felidia also offers a delicious three course price-fixed lunch, Monday - Friday for $29.50 per person, making the restaurant great for business lunches or just a nice afternoon treat.

For parties of 8 or more, Felidia offers our group dining menu rather than the a la carte menu. The group dining menu is a five course menu and includes our most popular dishes and seasonal favorites for $95 per person.

After wanting to go here for a long time, we were very disappointed. Our waiter was great, but that was the only thing we enjoyed we enjoyed. Our table for two along the west wall of the middle room had absolutely no light, not even a candle. The food was fine but not exceptional, but much worse, one of us did not feel well later in the evening (after the pasta with duck sauce).

We were greeted with the warning that the kitchen was closing! Why would you take a reservation at that time?? We felt very rushed. The server was rude, called me "Princess", made offensive jokes and comments. The meal was wonderful, but the experience was certainly less enjoyable due to the poor service.

The only complaint that I have is the fact that I waited 25 minutes between our pasta course and the entree. The wait wouldn't have been so bad if someone had come over to the table and filled our glasses of wine or even water. No one came over to refill a glass for 30 minutes. Being in the restaurant business myself, I was shocked to have waited this long.

The service was poor! It was over crowded (the fire marshal would not have been happy) They had way too many people working, they kept chatting it up next to the patrons. One of the servers kept touching her hair while plating a fish dish -- not very sanitary. It took too long to be seated, and the service was SLOW!

The food was excellent, the service even better than that. We will only go to Felidia on nights when bartender Josh is working. Not only is he an outstanding bartender but he is incredibly friendly and welcoming. No trip to NYC is complete without a chat with Josh while enjoying one of his fabulous Manhattans.

Felidia has a well deserved reservation for creating an inviting and delicious dining experience. The staff was engaging and attentive without being intrusive. They were knowledgeable and friendly. When I asked for advice, the waiter pointed out the strengths of each dish, rather than steering me in a particular direction. And, the food, the food, the food. How can this restaurant be so highly praised, and still exceed its own reputation? The soup was hearty and complex, delivering new tastes with every spoonful. The pear and cheese ravioli were delicate and yet filling. I cannot wait until my next trip to New York!

Loved the food, as I did the last time I ate here with my husband, but I thought the service could have been a little more attentive before ordering - it was a bit rushedd, and I couldn't help but notice that the couple at the next table got a much more thorough explanation of the menu.

    Dined on 3/18/2008
We asked about a wine select and the waitstaff had to consult with another staff person. They were in earshot of our table. The other restaurant staff said, " How would they (us) know, they haven't tasted it" pointing out that our opinion of the wine was wrong. I thought that comment was very degrading. You do not talk about a patron especially when they are within earshot of the conversation. I would not return for that reason nor recommend the restaurant. Thank You.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2004

My husband & I have had lunch at Felidia twice. Both times we enjoyed the food & wine, but not the service. The first time, about a year ago, we had a lovely lunch until the bill arrived & I noticed an overcharge on our bottle of wine. When I politely mentioned this to our waiter, he slammed the wine list in front of me, demanding that I look up the price. He grudgingly corrected our bill. Then last week, as we waited to be seated, we overheard a waitress complain to a co-worker that one of her tables ordered "just one course!". Alas, she got our table. Her attitude started off fine, but she became snippy when we ordered the prix fixe lunch (although we did order a bottle of wine). The bill arrived, & no surprise, a $6 overcharge!

We have loved this restaurant where the food is always interesting, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. BUT, it is two restaurants in one. In the first you are welcomed and served graciously and respectfully and can relax into a wonderful experience. In the second, you are hardly attended to from entry to departure, but you are rushed to order desert and leave after the main course. When you don't know which evening you will be experiencing, why should you return?

I eat out a lot all over the United States, from Morimotos in Philly to the Commander's Palace, Emril's and NOLA's in New Orleans, to Charlie Trotter's in Chicago to Spago in Beverly Hills to Abbacus, The Mansion, Bollas in Dallas, to Mark's in Houston, and the list goes on. This may have been the best dining experience ever. My wife thinks so. The Octopus was remarkable, the wine list exceptional, service was fantastic, and creative to die for food. You will not leave here disappointed in any aspect of the dining experience.
