A word from Il Pescatore Restaurant
Il Pescatore was founded in 1980 by three partners all of whom were of Tuscan origin. The original menu included classic Tuscan dishes, which are still on the menu today, such as Pasta della Casa, Veal Scallopine with mushrooms, and our signature Veal T-Bone with Rosemary (Lombata de Vitello al Rosmarino).

With the explosion of the Italian food and wine scene in the 1980’s, the menu expanded to represent dishes from numerous regions of the Italian peninsula. Risotto con funghi (Piemonte), Cannelloni alla Romana (Roma), Eggplant Parmigiana (Sicilia), and Fresh Fish Picatta (Napoli) are but a few of the regional dishes on our menu.

Our menu has been continuously evolving, and this year we introduced our own homemade Gelato and Sorbet.

Il Pescatore has been proudly serving the community of Oakland for over 32 years at Jack London Square and we have been blessed with many loyal customers over the years.

The staff reminds me of the old Italian restaurants of my youth in Chicago. Bustling, all seasoned waiters with a friendly hello and quick wit while they ply you with good wines and traditional fare. I always enjoy sharing dishes with my dinner companions. This menu lends itself to that. A couple of appetizers, a salad, a pasta and then one of their traditional piccata's or seafood dishes. Save room for a tarimisu and coffee. The service is robust but not rushed. There is usually a couple of large parties so the sound level can be "energetic"! It all part of the charm. Weekend brunch is nice and a good value for the area. This place is established but surrounded by newer, trendier places so don't let them suck you in.

We came for Easter Sunday Brunch, our first visit here. We had the most spectacular table in the house, set up and ready for us at our reservation time. The wait staff was patient with our big group and we did not wait long for our food. The drinks were good, the food was good, we will be back. I can not say enough lovely things about this restaurant. They use quality ingredients,so you will pay more than you think you should for a pasta dish, but it is worth it! Great views of the boats docked in the harbor.

This was a return visit, last visit about 5 years ago. I thought ~ for the quality of food ~ that they were extremely over-priced for a lunch. I took my staff, and for the four of us the bill was close to $150 dollars, and we didn't have wine (just ice-tea.) The portions were very modest - I had sole with kale, with was luke warm at best. My staff members had salmon with veggies and a penne pasta in red sauce.

We have been to Il pescatore before we always enjoyed the food . the salmon was fishy and over cooked, sauce was good. the sole on the ends was rubbery and also overcooked. vegetables were very good and the pasta. The restaurant seemed outdated and could use some declutting. waiters are very good as always.

This is the kind of overpriced, tired, uninspired food that gave Fisherman's Wharf a bad rep. Except that it's in Oakland, which is even more insulting, since it has a less scenic view. The starters are adequate but indifferent quality. The special veal chop was unevenly cut, barely trimmed with a huge fatty tail left on, and impossible to cook properly, altho sauce was perfect. Fish and calamari steak were small but adequate, if nothing remarkable. Sides were the same for all entrees, very old school. The dessert menu is identical to everybody else's, and again good but not great. Coffee & espressos are excellent--the only part of the meal that was. With Oliveto & Lungomare nearby, why come here?

It was a beautiful day and the setting was great for a ladies Birthday lunch. The pricing is quite high as it was $150 for lunch for 3 with tip. This did include a $32 bottle of wine. The waiter was extremely attentive and along with another waiter did a wonderful rendition of Happy Birthday. The celebrant loved it. Perhaps for a Birthday, one dessert should be complementary.

Situated right on the Estuary at Jaack London square makes the location great. But we came her for its Italian food. The entrees that the five of us had were varied in quality. The Saltimbocca was recommended by the waiter and it was excellent. The veal with capers was also quite good. The fish of the day was limp and tasteless. The best thing on the plates was fresh the vegetables. The pasta served on the plate was diappointing as it was rather blah and went uneatten by several. We had an array of deserts and all were tasty. The choclate pecan pie was the best of the four we had. Service was very well paced and attentive. This resturant has been an old standby when we are in the Oakland area.

I have been dining at Il Pescatore for many years, largely because our yacht was berthed about 75 feet from its windows. On occasion they would provide great special orders for our boat guests. But then we sailed away to Southern California and Mexico. When we sold the boat my wife and I moved to Santa Maria, but whenever I make a trip to Oakland, I have dinner there. It has been beautifully remodeled and the food and service remains first class.

Ever since our first experience, we now frequent this establishment. We boat to the guest dock and stroll through Jack London Square to Pescatore's for dinner. Every time we enter, we are greeted with such enthusiasum like we are a family member. We had a couple of birhdays and were treated to an amazing birthday song, sung with great gusto! The food and wine are amazing! The food is hot and in portions worth the price. The menu offers a great variety of choices to accomodate those that are picky, to those that are on diet restrictions. The seafood is very fresh and not drowned in sauces and pasta. They offer a full bar for those not wanting wine. The desserts are out of this world and made from scratch, even many gelato flavors!

We have dined at Il Pescatore as a family for many years. While the entire atmosphere around Jack London has changed, Il Pescatore seems like a tired old restaurant that is quickly becoming out of place. The wait staff is not helpful and borders on rude (or perhaps bored - not many tables filled at prime dinner hour). They do not cater to kids at all, so just don't bring any. The food was ok to bad and VERY expensive for what you got. Same with the wine list. Tired and expensive. They advertise homeade gelato as the desert. when we tried to order it, the waiter seemed annoyed. At $6/scoop, I am the annyoed one! It was terrible. What happened to this place???

Right off the top our reservation was ready w/no waiting although the restaurant was packed. The service was tops w/just enough attention w/o being intrusive. Everything was top rate. I hadn't been to El Pescatore in a while since we've moved out of the area but it continues to be one of our favorite places. It was SOO good and we were SOO satisfied that we have to drive the extra distance to come back more frequently for those special occasions.

Six of us older types recently had lunch at Il Pescatore, using an Open Table reservation. I called to be sure we could have individual checks and they were most gracious about it. In every way, the manager and staff were genuinely welcoming, friendly, caring. We felt very well received. We were sooooo happy to have a table with lovely view and in a quiet spot where we could talk with no interference from music or conversation from other tables. Most of us in the group have been going to Il Pescatore over many years and were gratified to see that you can "go home again" The food is very good and we all enjoyed it. Highly recommended for view, ambience, low noise level, service, and food.

This was out first time dining at Pescatore Ristorante. Nice table by the window overlooking the marina. We had the Calamari appetizer. Very good 8.5 out of 10. Next we had Clam chowder. To runny and full of potatoes instead of clams. 5 at best. The Wife had the Canneloni. It was good but a little to much Sage for our tastes.6.5 I had the veal Parmasean. very good, excellent pasta side dish. 8 of 10. My biggest gripe would be cost. $108 before tip. $130 after. We ate the night before at House of prime rib in San francisco both having the King edward cut( the largest cut) and the bill was $138 with tip. For $8 more this would be a no brainer. House of prime rib everytime. I would still recommend but this is with a minimal bar tab.
