A word from Il Pescatore Restaurant
Il Pescatore was founded in 1980 by three partners all of whom were of Tuscan origin. The original menu included classic Tuscan dishes, which are still on the menu today, such as Pasta della Casa, Veal Scallopine with mushrooms, and our signature Veal T-Bone with Rosemary (Lombata de Vitello al Rosmarino).

With the explosion of the Italian food and wine scene in the 1980’s, the menu expanded to represent dishes from numerous regions of the Italian peninsula. Risotto con funghi (Piemonte), Cannelloni alla Romana (Roma), Eggplant Parmigiana (Sicilia), and Fresh Fish Picatta (Napoli) are but a few of the regional dishes on our menu.

Our menu has been continuously evolving, and this year we introduced our own homemade Gelato and Sorbet.

Il Pescatore has been proudly serving the community of Oakland for over 32 years at Jack London Square and we have been blessed with many loyal customers over the years.

We went here for the first time based on a recommendation. It was our anniversary. We just loved our experience. My wife said that it was the best meal she has ever had in a restaurant and she has been to many restaurants all over the country. The service was excellent. The ambiance was perfect for a special occasion like ours. The food was perfect, the preparation excellent. I strongly recommend this restaurant .

We were a group of 8, rather loud, for lunch, and they welcomed us warmly. Great service. I only heard good things about all the dishes and wine. Thumbs up for chowder. My personal drink revue--don't order a Lemon Drop martini. We all agreed, we would do it again.

We have been going to Il Pescatore for over 30 years and wanted to go once again for my 75th birthday. When we walked in, we couldn't believe all the "JUNK" that has been hauled in to decorate the restaurant!!It would make a wonderful museum for the history of music but does not belong in the décor of a fairly small restaurant. We were "attacked" by gnats throughout our meal. The pasta accompanying the dishes was a very small portion. We have never seen such a small number of diners in one of our favorite restaurants! It makes me sad to have to write all of this because Nasir and the rest of the waiters have always been some of our favorites, but I think this place will be going under very soon if it doesn't make some major changes!

I brought my parents here at their request for Italian and seafood after a long trip. The service was very attentive and we loved the views of the boats and the water. However However, our food came out lukewarm at best and mine was not at all as described on the menu. The sorbet, however, is worth the trip: home made, it was light and fluffy, not at all icy.

The food here is actually quite tasty and the staff is friendly and helpful (even if not quite as attentive as you'd want). The views of marina are lovely. The interior of the restaurant however could use updating as it's dark and tired and tables are awfully close together.

First time walking over here for dinner. Nice, authentic Italian food; quiet atmosphere. After the hub-ub of younger, upbeat places in the area this was a really nice place to wind down and enjoy a quiet dinner and professional wait staff. The old-school feel we read about worked for us and we look forward to our next visit. Loved loved loved the host in his very handsome navy blue suit.

We had a delicious dinner. Although there was only one other couple in the restaurant when we arrived, by the time we left they had gotten busier. Lovely tables by the windows with a view of the sailboats....Tableclothes..... Knowledgeable server, Tony, who had been there over 20 years.... The veal limone was so tasty..... could have had another helping.

Fried calamari was soggy and tasteless. Clam chowder was runny and about a half cup size for $8.95. Caesar salad was good. Shrimp Louie looked like it came from Safeway deli. Absolutely substandard food for the high price. No value here.

My mother worked at an Italian restaurant for 18 years, I find my self to be a bit of a snob, when it comes to good Italian. The staff is friendly, and the choices are plentiful. My two favorite items are the house speciality, the seafood pasta & the veal chop.

The food is excellent, the servers are very attentive, and the view of the estuary and the boats is wonderful. I haven't been here in a number of years, but it was just as good (if not better) than I remember it. The only negative -- and it's just my personal taste and opinion -- is that I don't like all of the "antiques" on display. Although they are interesting historical items, they are too numerous and give the restaurant an unsophisticated, cluttered look. I liked the looks of the place better without the antiques. Nevertheless, the clutter in no way takes away from the excellent food and service.

I can't believe that I grew up in Oakland, and have been to just about every other restaurant in Jack London, but not this one. The decor was a little older, which I LOVED - reminds me of growing up with what my parents and grandparents used to have at home - all that is considered antique now. It may not be for everyone, but it was very homey and comfortable. The staff was attentive and understood how to serve. The food was amazing! Not over seasoned or over buttered like a lot of places could be. Very clean and fresh - our party of 4 finished our plates and still had room for their dessert. I'm not a huge dessert fan, but the tiramisu was so light and fluffy and not too sweet. What a perfect finish to a perfect meal. Thank you!

I enjoy coming back to this restaurant. The frutti de mare is a treat. Went with 3 other people. All gave their meals a thumbs up except one. The wait staff was kind enough to take the dish back from our unsatisfied guest and add some additional sauce to "spice it up" however it didn't work for her. Service was good and staff was friendly. Other than that, great views and a great fixture in Jack London Square.

It's a nice looking restaurant with friendly waiters, but the food was mediocre and overpriced. The ~$10 Mozzarella Alla Caprese salad was prepared with tasteless and tough (possibly refrigerated) slices of beefsteak tomato, and the ~$20 Salmon Peperonata was overcooked and likewise tough. There are so many options for a tasty $30-40 dinner in the East Bay (e.g., Revival, Chez Panisse Cafe, Marica) that I'm embarrassed to have brought my visitors here.

We had a party of six, and we all thought the food was good, but not great. Having grown up in the Bay Area, I am somewhat spoiled regarding food. Seemed slightly over-priced. Fresh-backed bread was great. The location is nice - near the bay in a growing Jack London area. Service was very good. Most of the waiters were older, but knowledgeable and attentive.

There were se several of us who use to go there on a regular basis this past time, the food was very mediocre. My husband had pasta that seemed not to be fresh and my petrale soul was not what I expected. The batter was a thick skin of scrambled eggs with a tough texture. To say the least, we were disappointed and embarrassed to have invited out of town guests there for dinner.

We ate outside on Mothers Day - House was packed, service was a bit slow, but staff more than made up for that with their friendliness and their acknowledgment that they were busy and doing their best. We arrived on time - were seated at a table by the window (also by the entrance). We were there at 4PM - so we had undivided attention for a short while. Waiter was friendly and funny. There were 8 of us. 7 out of the 8 meals were very good but the 8th was sole and was fishy tasting. Finally caught a bus person and asked for the waiter to inform him about the sole. One of the owners/mgrs.finally came over and we told him it was fishy smelling and tasting. He said sole had a tendency to be a stronger fish and we argued that point. He then asked what we wanted to replace the meal....we were finished eating at this point.....he did not offer to take it off the bill. We took a dinner to go. We skipped dessert.
