A word from Zona Rosa
Small plate Mexican dining in downtown San Jose"s historic Rose Garden.

Our dishes honor the cookery of Mexico with a focus on masa. The cuisine of Zona Rosa is Mexican but with a twist. Executive Chef, Anna Zamora Pizzo takes the components of an authentic Mexican dish and adds modern flavors and fresh seasonal ingredients. Everything is home-made and made from scratch. We hand press our tortillas using fresh, organic corn masa from La Finca.

We strive to be a farm to table kitchen and whenever possible, we use local and organic meats, poultry & produce as well as sustainable seafood sanctioned by Monterey Bay Seafood Watch.

Zona Rosa features wines, beer and coffee from local vendors including J Lohr, Barefoot Coffee, and Russian River Brewing Company.

currently a charming little neighborhood gem, alas, soon to expand in a BIG way. Small plates that are more like eating m Latin /Mexican style tapas, best to share plates. They were out of many dishes early in the evening on a weekend so prepare several choices before ordering to prevent disappointment. Our server Mindy was an absolute delight, hope to get her on our next visit.

Small but lovely restaurant serving unique and very fresh Mexican food. Dishes were tasty and light, not the typical fare found in similar venues. Wonderful salsas, guacamole was special, carnitas moist and very delicious. Servers were welcoming. Clearly the owner is proud of his thoughtful offerings.

Tiny place with big, bold flavor. Definitely need reservations for this restaurant. Only 6 tables inside and about the same on patio. Great, friendly service. Food was amazing. Highly recommend the fish tacos, carnitas, and don't forget empanadas! Beans tasted like someone's grandma made them from scratch! A little on the pricey side but worth the "farm to table" quality.

I have been to Zona Rosa 5 times now and it is currently my favorite place to go. The food, service, and ambiance are by far superior to most restaurants, this place is definitely a neighborhood gem! So happy happy they are expanding, current place is very charming but a bit cozy. The Blue Corn Masa Crepes are a must have, I love the twist they do on guacamole - they add pistachios and bacon. Yum!

A tiny, tiny place, so if you want a seat inside, make a reservation. We had to wait about 20 minutes with a reservation. However, the food was well worth the wait. Absolutely delicious Mexican food and not the usual "combo with rice and beans" stuff. Also very interesting was the red sangria, flavored with fruit, and clove and cinnamon. It is better without ice than with. Definitely will come back and wish them luck on their expansion plans.

A change of pace from the typical two-items-with-rice-and-refried-beans kind of place. A more upscale treatment of traditional Mexican favorites, with somewhat higher prices to match. Service was attentive, although we got a somewhat brusque greeting from the hostess, who was rather insistent about Saturday patrons having reservations (which we had, thanks to Open Table). We started with the queso fundido, which did not overly impress. We followed with two different enchilada dishes with mole sauce that were both delicious. The pumpkin fritters with homemade ice cream for dessert were also very good. I would rate this place somewhat of a mixed bag, due to a short menu, high-ish prices, and noise factor, offset by some good dishes.

Not the kind of Mexican food you find in most Mexican restaurants which is a good thing. Small plates with fresh ingredients and really good flavors and sauces. Try the chips and salsas, amazing flavors. No real wine selection and no margaritas but the Sangria is good. Wear some warm clothes since when that door opens all the cold air comes in and it's chilly in there.

We are so happy this Zona Rosa opened up in the Rose Garden. There are few places to eat in this neighborhood but this is an excellent venue and we are happy to eat here regularly. The menu has the best ahi tuna appetizer around and the mushroom soup is by far our favorite. Now that they are taking reservations we can dine here without worrying about the wait time or lines. Love this neighborhood gem. We are looking forward to trying the Sunday Brunch. The owner is warm and friendly.

Terrific service and wonderful "authentic" Mexican cuisine. If you're looking for El Torrito, this ain't it. Zona Rosa has a unique, somewhat eclectic menu and everything we tried just knocked it out of the park. The place is small, some might say "cozy" with perhaps ten tables. As a result, a reservation is a great idea, but they're very friendly and will go out of their way to make you comfortabe while you wait. We arrived 35 minutes early and, at the manager's recommendation, found a great wine bar down the street. She walked down to get us when our table was ready. We'll definitely go back.

This place is very small but very cute. The food was good, I had the ahi tuna tostadas with a side of beans. The tostadas were delicious and the beans were the best beans I've ever had. My group ordered a pitcher of sangria and it was really good. It was on the cinnamon-y side which is perfect for the holiday season. The service was awesome. I came with a group of girls and we did our gift exchange as well as our usual extensive chatter. Although we were loud and weren't paying any attention to anyone or anything around us, our server was very nice and patient. I will definitely be back..
