Beautiful setting...can see the investment they made in the place. Service trys to be very attentive, but with the design of the dining rooms...felt very cramped and on us. The food is very imaginative and presented very uniquely. Some dishes were spot on...some left questions with our group...they were sparse and not as tasty as the descriptions would leave you to believe. Will go back...just not as soon given the tab.

  • Hakkasan SF offers a high-end
    LimeyVIP

Hakkasan SF offers a high-end Asian-inspired menu in swanky surroundings. Think Shanghai 1930 but more Japanese and expensive. The food is of a high standard, but the plates are small and everything is very expensive. It is a place for expense account dinners and to impress dates, and the ambiance is good and the bar scene high energy. Next time we'll probably just stop at the bar for a cocktail and appetizers. I recall Hakkasan London as having better food. Service was a little slow on a Saturday night; they were inundated and struggling to keep up.

Now...this is some oriental restaurant. The food was delicious, fresh, elegantly presented in a variety of beautiful serving dishes. Sumptuous decor, fresh flowers, mood music, just enough livelyness, good wine selection and exotic cocktails. Service was courteous and attentive. If you like attention to details, nice ambiance and great food, then Hakkasan SF may be just what you are looking for. Loved the experience.

My fav restaurant in London is Hakkasan! Having moved to San Fran I was really missing the vibe of a cool bar with nice food and a funky place to dress up! This place is fabulous. The valet is super reasonably priced and the staff are so kind. Alison at reception was so lovely and Drew at the front was very kind. The food was so healthy but so yummy and all the cocktails are stunning. Thank you thank you Hakkasan for following us to San Fran!

Great atmosphere - good food but very expensive for what you get. Fro example their seafood noodle dish was described with scallops and crab meat - it oost $29 but only had 4 small scallops and very little crab meat. I suggest go for a drink soak up the atmosphere and eat elsewhere. But don't ask for nuts with your drink - they charge you $4 for a small bowl.

Lunched at Hakkasan on a Saturday. Things were pretty quiet which might not be the case during the week or at dinner. The place has a very hip vibe and service was good. We did the dim sum menu and found the food to be fantastic. Best dim sum I have had in SF. Party of 2 without alcohol was $80.

Great food and service. The drinks did take a bit longer than expected from the bar. The food was above par and definitely worth the taste. Service was attentive yet not overbearing. I cant stand servers hovering over you asking if everything is okay, that is why I like asian style service better. Most dishes were a hit: the dim sum, the hakka noodles, and the duck were great. The wagyu beef was a bit over cooked for my taste, and didn't seem to have the fatty richness that I'm used to. And the ambiance was beautiful. Classic gaudy Chinese architecture meets neon Shanghai. Over all a great experience.

I was waiting for a high-end Chinese restaurant for a long, long time. San Francisco was missing refined Chinese cuisine that you often find in other parts of the world, even in LA like Mr. Chow, despite the large Chinese population in SF. Now we have Hakkasan! The food was just outstanding, the impeccable service comparable to Gary Danko. The space is beautiful and the ambiance is fun, upscale and energetic yet not stuffy or snobby. My 7 years old son loved it too. A great addition to our favorite restaurants!

I am Chinese and very well-traveled around Asia. This is Chinese food like I've never had before. Unique and delicious twists on dim sum, it's a great place for lunch. The service was fantastic. Beautiful decor, friendly, unpretentious even though it looks like a place that might have attitude--the staff is unparalleled in their professionalism. Definitely going back! We ordered many different dim sum plates to share. Most of the dishes were great but a few were outstanding: the crunchy crispy duck rolls were filled densely with duck. The pumpkin puff was made to perfection..like a miniature pumpkin with skin and stem and the filling was scrumptious. The noodle dishes were tasty. The macarons dessert course was baked to perfection...consisted of 7 macarons; 2 yuzu flavored; 2 plum flavored; and one each of green tea; caramel; and vanilla ice. The macarons were in their bright vivid colors, each tasted uniquely and beautifully presented and delightful. The ambiance was simply gorgeous, refined, and comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient making customer feel welcomed in this huge dining room.

What can I say but fantastic. I dined for dinner for two with a second visit for Sunday brunch adding our daughters. The food and service were an equal match. Our server remembered us AND our menu options from our visit two weeks prior. Brunch/lunch has basically the same menu with a reduced cost. I could go on about the wide variety of appetizers, entrees, 5 soup and salad options. All size able portions. And the cocktails ...Giddyup! The decor is elegant on the table side; huge oval long trendy bar. Very different for The City (Vegas meets London?) but seems to fit right in. Only negative is the unusual office building lobby entrance. And they valet park!

SF outpost of famed London chain is a cool, sleek space located just off Market Street. Food is pretty good but expensive for what it is - competent Chinese dishes including dim sum that didn't exactly blow me away. May need to try some of the less traditional dishes to see what modern flourishes to Cantonese cooking the chef brings.

We expected a bit more.It is a beautiful place to look at. Definitely will go back and order some other dishes. The steamed Dim Sum sampler was outstanding. But everything else was just ok. Especially the beef short rib with lots and lots of fat on it, quail only ok, too. Singapore Noddles Vermicelli, th pasta stuck together like a clump, too bad because the taste was good. Egg Fried Rice, a little bland but ok. Choi Sum was fresh and tasty. Scallop Chive dish was also a bit bland and small for the price. Maybe we have to order different dishes. All in all it was very pricy , glasses of wine in the $ 14 to $ 20 range, by the bottle not cheap either. Chocolate orange dessert was stunning with chocolate sauce poured over a little silvery
