A word from Roots Bistro Gourmand
Roots Bistro Gourmand, a BISTRONOMIC RESTAURANT, specializes in contemporary French Cuisine. The term bistronomic juxtaposes high end cuisine with humor and accessibility, as well as doing away with old world dress code, white table cloths, elaborate floral displays, tuxedoed servers and replacing them with dynamic gastronomy with a lively and relaxed atmosphere. It is a new kind of eatery opened by young chefs with excellent training.

An enjoyable dinner. Good food. Bit expensive. Some bigger groups, very loud. Tough to talk.

After enjoying a great first meal a few weeks ago at this newly opened neighborhood gem in West Islip, NY, I decided to have a birthday dinner for my husband at Roots. Once again, the food, service and overall ambiance were outstanding. For a restaurant that has been open less than one month, it is clear that Roots "has taken root" and is a wonderful addition to our little town that desperately needed a fine, upscale dining venue. The food is extremely high quality and creative, sure to please any palette that enjoys sophisticated tastes at moderate prices. Special thanks to co-owner James Orlandi, who met with me prior to my husband's birthday dinner to ensure all would be perfect for the 9 of us who were dining--and it was!

the food and service were outstanding, a real gem ! The live music needs to be toned down because you cannot hear yourself think. The music was good but much too loud !

This is my 2nd visit within 2 weeks for a party of 6 & on 09/01 with a party of 11. In both visits, I tried the 6 course wine pairing while the other guests ordered different appetizers, entrees & desert which I sampled them all. The food is very fresh, delicately prepared with perfection to our desired & the plating presentations were superb. Every dish was simply scrumptious & consistent!-not a hit or missed as I have experienced in other fine restaurants. My compliments to James Orlandi, David Mahr & Philippe Corbet. On 09/01, our server was Denise & she was simply meticulous in every way. Denise was very professional, polite, highly attentive to our needs & always smiling with a genuinely warm personality. Highly recommended.

It was my second visit to Roots Bistro Gourmand in the past 2 weeks since it had opened and I was impressed how the young restaurant improved simply in week's time from the previous visit. The food was to be marveled at and the supporting service was generous. Having visited some of NYC's landmark restaurants in the previous week, such as Daniel, Hill Country, Blue Smoke, and The Green Square, I thought that Roots Bistro Gourmand might join that group in time and that it was already doing a great job. While Roots might have had some questioning its smaller portions, I noted the commentators had a lack of understanding of how French inspired food is made with the intent to satisfy and celebrate the moment. I look forward to returning s

Pleasant new addition to the neighborhood. We decided to share our plates and course after course just kept blowing us away. The chef has a clear vision and technique that brought together the concept of the restaurant which is GREAT food in a casual atmosphere
