I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner; we've both been wanting to try it. The service and food was great! I would definitely go back and also recommend to friends. They even brought out a special birthday treat for us and the pb&j macaroon was delicious! I could've had 10 more of those! Great Experience overall!

We have been to Spoon twice now and loved it each time. There are so many great items, try to order as many different things as you can and share among the table. Loved the crudo trio especially the yellow tail with grapefruit. Although not seafood, we loved the truffle pasta - you can get a half order and share as a side dish.

Service was impeccable. The food was amazing and worth the visit. Absolutely off the charts. The "chefs table" is a concept I dont think they execute well and should be avoided. You can't see over it into the kitchen due to a high bar wall and its completely obvious the staff doesnt want you there with the turned backs and sideways glances. Nothing was ever said or made known, but there was an air of passive aggressiveness that made things uncomfortable. Got a great view of the heat lamps, vulcan broilers and commercial vent hoods. I thought it was a rare option to be presented with when we arrived and jumped at the chance to see the masters at work, but being seated at the regular tables would have been more enjoyable.

Chef Tesar truly is genius. Beyond beautiful and delicious food found here. Every course amazed and delighted us in every way. We had starters, salad and entrees, as I had done the chef's tasting menu before and it is a lot of food! We chose the spicy chili lobster and soft shell crab for starters, the heirloom tomato salad, and our entrees were arctic char and seared scallops. We elected to have the sommelier pair wines with our courses. Our waiter was superb... extremely knowledgeable and suggested we share the first three dishes, which were presented to our table beautifully. He then divided them onto our plates for us. This is memorable dining for special occasions. Foodies rejoice!

We had the tasting menu with another couple and two of us ordered the wine pairings and once again Spoon delivers like no other in the metroplex. At least three courses were the best version of that seafood I have experienced and the wine pairings were so good I have already attempted to track down three of the wines to enjoy at home. Spoon continues to be the best Seafood in Dallas period.

Server was rushed, haughty and seemed irked she had to serve us. Curt answers to questions asked. Not forth-coming about menu. No follow up on satisfaction during meal. Toward end of meal, My dinner companion was finished. My plate was about half full. I was still eating. In fact, I was still chewing my food. She came to clear table. Asked if I was finished. After I swallowed, I told her I was still eating. She asked if we wanted dessert.

Disappointment is the only word that can describe the food I encountered at Spoon Bar & Kitchen. No where near the price paid for the evening. Just a total shock to experience such sub par food. The highlight of the evening was the Angel's Envy Rye, the only thing with any flavor.

My wife, son and I dinned on May 24, 2014 to celebrate a family occasion. We made reservation for 8:00pm but did not get seated till 8:20pm. We waited 30 minutes from the time appetizers/salad was served to the time entre was served. They were not that busy. Sampler Crudo was average. Seafood was good but not the freshest that we have ever had. Asparagus with morel mushroom salad was a little bland. Sturgeon Pork Belly was way overcooked making the fish very tough. Sauce was very average with too much butter. Seems like that only sauce in this dish was clarified butter. Another bland dish. Squid ink dish was very similar to Sturgeon Pork Belly dish, too much clarified butter with bland seasonings. Soft shell crab in this dish was oily.

We loved the modern Americanized interpretation of traditional Korean ingredients. Everything we ordered this evening was fabulous and the service was equally pleasurable. The beer and wine list wasn't diluted and vast but very concise and poignant. Couple that with fun dining conversations...win-win-win.

  • Best Seafood in Dallas, Period

    Dined on 5/8/2014
Spoon is easily the best seafood restaurant in Dallas, by far. Tesar has adopted some of the NY dishes and even improved on some of them. The pounded Tuna with Fois Gras is phenomenal, the Uni and squid ink is above the rim amazing, and the skate wing is my favorite thing to eat in Dallas. I think the wine list is too slanted towards Old World, but that is more of a personal preference. Sit in front of the Kitchen for a fun experience.

After reading the many positive reviews and top ratings, I had to go see for myself what the hype was all about. Everything I read was true! Great reception from the host set the tone for our delicious evening that was ahead. Our table was in the back parallel to the kitchen and bar. I wasn't sure at first if this would be too loud, but it was ok. The Diver Scallops literally melted in my mouth. The lobster tagatelle dish is now in my top three all time dishes list! Of course we were stuffed and did not order dessert. However the bonus dessert with baby portions of a variety was perfect! Take the time and your pocketbook to experience a mouth full of yumminess. You will thank me tomorrow!

Lobster pot pie was unbeleiveable, arriving in a huge copper pot with puff pastry. Wonderful flavors full of lobster in a light butter/cream/herb sauce...huge portion, could easily be split for 2. The skate wing was also delightful as well as singapore style appetizer. This is the absolute best gourmet fresh seafood in town.

For what they charge, we would have expected everything to be outstanding. It is not. The smoked sturgeon appetizer was bland, dry and over-smoked. The softshell crab was tasty but I think it's hard to screw up something that's battered and deep fried. My main course was salmon, which again was dry and bland. My partners south american prawns were very tasty and unique - the kind of dish that we were hoping to find here. The wine pairing recommendations were very good, as was the service.

The condensation from the cocktail caused a suction from the glass to the marble table top and both my friend and I kept spilling our drink because they stuck to the table. Also the booth was too small for four people. Very awkward dining experience. We had to use our dinner napkins and bread plates for our drinks so they wouldn't stick. Weird . Also my friends highball glass rim was chipped. Waiter replaced it.

First, the service was outstanding. Our server was very attentive and except for a small delay between the fourth and fifth course, the timing of each dish and wine pairing was spot on. We each ordered the chef's tasting menu with win pairings and we both felt halfway happy about the dishes and the wine pairings. The first three courses and pairings were excellent (well, except for the white sherry that was paired with our diver scallop dish; my wife could not drink it and frankly, we both were not sure why they were paired). From there, the pasta dish was very good, but frankly, too much food for a six course meal. The last two fish dishes were prepared well and looked great, but frankly, lacked flavor, needed salt or some other spice.

I have read some great reviews about this place. While the food was good (entrees were the best part, for sure!), the appetizer/salad portions were very small. I get that as Americans we tend to overindulge so I can let the small portion size slide. Especially since the entree portions were totally normal. The servers were nice, although nothing out of the ordinary. Also, the location is not ideal for a fancy place like this. They would be better suited closer to downtown to pick up the businessmen and travelers. Lastly, I think it is pretty overpriced. To pay $40 for entree and $20 appetizers I was expecting a bit more. Overall, I had a nice meal, I just wasn't "wow-ed" ... but I also went in with high expectations.

First the hostess recommended we sit in the back at the "interactive" chef counter =mistake! There was no interaction at all, they barely even looked at us. Plus, the counter wall was too high & there were dishes pilled up...couldn't see anything going on, so I don't even know the point of the chef counter at all. Only "action" we saw was the owner eating off the plates as they were about to go out. ?? The crudo was a rip-off ....you get more w/same or better quality at a 4star sushi restaurant. Dessert was very underwhelming. We WON'T return. Wish we would of just gone to Stephen Pyles or Nick&Sam's!

The food was excellent when we dined here the other night. The service was a bit lacking in that our server lacked some knowledge of the menu and she spilled my beer as she was pouring it. And the price point was a bit high for this to be anything more than a special occasion restaurant. However, I highly recommend I for that!
