If you like southern style cooking (ie deep fried), then you should definitely check out Southern Hospitality. The fried green tomatoes were awesome and I loved my catfish. However, they need to work on the BBQ just a bit. A dining companion had the ribs and while they were good, they were NOT fall-off-the-bone. You gotta have fall off the bone ribs!! We had a new-ish waitress (she informed us that she just got done with training) and she was wonderful. Not yet jaded and perfectly happy to be waiting on us. Overall, the food is pretty tasty, our waitress was amazing and our evening dinner was memorable.

So the food was good, but not the Southern cooking that I was looking for. I was craving southern cooking, BBQ, mac and cheese in a skillet, cole slaw.. everything. The BBQ was ok, the mac and cheese is pre cooked and then served in a skillet, and the slaw tasted like mayo with no flavoring. But the Bourbon drinks are amazing!!! If you do go here, get a bourbon drink, with an app, like the fried pickles. I am not saying the food here is bad.. not at all. its just not what I was hoping for.

This place was a great place for my birthday dinner. The fried pickles were ok, I would go with the Brisket Eggrolls! The service was great! The fried chicken was very good along with the white gravy. The mashed potatoes were a little dry and the coleslaw was not near sweet enough to be southern! Great location downtown and great environment.

If you are looking for good bbq this is the place. My wife and I are from the South and love bbq. All of our food came out super fast! A little pricey for bbq, but you pay for it being downtown. We will definitely return and try different menu items.

The food and drinks were amazing. I had the prime rib dip and it was so good. The drinks were delish and strong. I will be going back again for date night. My husband had a sampler of fried chicken, ribs, and brisket. It was great and the portion was so big that he couldn't finish it. A rare thing! We also had fried green tomatoes. Delish! I would definately recommend this restaurant.

As a Kansas City BBQ die hard, it is hard to digest other regions BBQ. It wasn't terrible, but not fantastic either. Our server seemed as if she had other things that were more important than serving our table, which seemed funny as the place is called Southern Hospitality. The place was ridiculously loud. They seated everyone in one corner, including a large table of about 12 people, while the other half of the restaurant was empty. The atmosphere really didn't make any sense to me. It was like a blend of roadhouse and dive bar, only with much higher prices. I'm sure there is much better BBQ in Denver.

Went there to watch the first half of the Broncos with three friends. I had the Peaches and Waffles! Wow! This would be perfect for their dessert menu and I told the manager so. My friends all loved their meals too, Chicken and biscuits, hash, and eggs benedict. We go there often actually for dinner. Thanks again guys!

Took the family (of four) to Southern Hospitality on a Saturday evening and was sat downstairs...at the bottom of the stairwell. The food was good but the high traffic spot we were sat in made for a lot of distractions. The downstairs area filled up with a couple large parties and got really, really loud. My advice would be to sit in the more attractive, inviting and quieter upstairs to get the most enjoyment out of this place. The Brisket, Fried Chicken and kids Chicken tenders were great. The Beale Street Chicken was dry...according to the wife. Desserts, Pecan Pie and Peach Crisp, were delicious.

I've been to Southern Hospitality on the weekend, and had an amazing experience. But this week I took 2 friends to dinner on a week night, and was very disappointed. Although our waiter was nice and efficient, the rest of the staff was unfriendly and seemed to be annoyed that customers were there. The beef brisket platter was recommended, but my friend couldn't eat most of it because it was so fatty. The bread on my sandwich was hard as a rock. I could not cut it even with my steak knife. I also raved about the cheddar grits to my friends, but they were cold, stiff and bland on this night. Overall, it was a disappointment experience and this bad first impression for my two friends has turned them off completely.

Our party of four enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, fried chicken and mashed potatoes, fried chicken and waffles, fried catfish, and banana pudding. The food was outstanding, particularly the banana pudding, which was topped with caramelized bananas. That being said, our server was really inattentive. I wouldn't let it stop me from going back, but I would certainly hope for better service next time around.

Four adults on a Tuesday night (October 3rd) to celebrate a birthday....we all got the gift of GREAT BBQ (Brisket, Baby Back and Spare Ribs, Pulled Chicken) - so unbelievably great that said four adults, took food photos at the table and texted-out, and the next day emails and texts were flying to recap how great the food and service was. Plans in the works to go back and bring others. SH is now on our frequent list for out of town guests as well as our local crew!

Food was great, service was Ok but no spectacular. The bar needs some help. When i ordered wine by the glass, ther forst glass was oxidized and i sent it back, they pursed a glass from a new bottle. When I ordered a second glass of the same wine, they obviously poured it from the old bottle, it was again oxidized. One of my friends in my group ordered a "dry" martini and it had so much vermouth in it you couldn't drink it. My advice: stick to beer

I really wanted to like this restaurant, I did. The service was excellent....but the food. Ugh. We would have been better off at Chili's.....and I don't eat at Chili's. The fried chicken was overcooked and the brisket was dry. There are so many places in Denver serving really good fried chicken (Jezebel's, Steuben's Lou's Food Bar) and plenty of good BBQ places that there won't be a need for us to subject ourselves to this again. Sorry.

I took a friend for dinner, we had both been there before a few times so I guess we are almost regulars, and for good reason. We shared the Bacon and Eggs appetizer, a cool twist with real deviled eggs, the kind mom used to make, bacon strips and tater tots on the side, great dish. My friend had the Prime rib egg rolls, as usual, she gets it every time. Server always tells us how they use the prime rib that they smoke in their smoker out back, delicious as always. I tried their burger topped with some of their pulled pork, awesome, and a big burger, had to take half home, which I ate the next day. Service was attentive and on top of things like re-fills and checking back, etc.. Thanks again for a great meal!

Food was less than average. Service was terrible! We received our appetizer after our entrees. When we mentioned it to the waitress she said it happens sometimes. Ordered wine with my appetizer, received it about 10 minutes after my entrees arrival. Also, received silverware several minutes after my food. I didn't eat much because it wasn't good and the waitress just cleared my plate. She didn't even ask if there was an issue with my fod. Will never go back here again!

Both the ribs and the chicken were quite salty and were only warm, not hot. I was disappointed in the fried chicken as I was told I could order all white meat and got 2 pieces of white and 1 thigh, not at all crispy, but rather kind of soggy. Both kinds of the ribs on the sampler plate tasted almost the same. It would be nice I'd suggest a couple of kinds of bbq sauce, as the one they serve tastes very much like the rub that they use. Loved the fried pickles, and the grits. Overall--pretty pricey considering the quality of the meal. The chicken was $18 and the rib sampler was $24, both much higher than similar choices and better quality we've had in Denver. All of that + 2 cocktails was $81 and almost $100 with the tip.

I was disappointed in our experience at Southern Hospitality. I ordered the French dip and it was extremely fatty so I actually sent it back. We waited forever after we ate to get our check and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. My husband got the Rocky Mountain sampler and the chicken strips were the best thing on the plate. The ribs were really fatty but the rub was good. I was overall very disappointed....we wanted to try something new and so we picked this restaurant and I would have much rather saved the money and gone somewhere else. Not sure if we'll try it again, there are so many great restaurants in Denver I will probably go somewhere I can count on for great service and excellent food.

This place has delicious southern cooking which reminded me of my family's home cooking. The restaurants title fits, but only for the "Southern". I was really looking forward to the "hospitality" part. Here's a tip for them next time: When you're out of a particular beverage, don't wait 15 minutes and bring everyone's drink but mine and then tell me. Letting me know right away would be good...hospitable even. I'd like to say it was because they were busy for a Saturday night, but they weren't. There were plenty of open tables. Maybe I'll give them a try for lunch...maybe not.

We thoroughly enjoyed our late lunch at Southern Hospitality BBQ. The atmosphere was perfect for a late afternoon lunch, the staff was friendly and always had a smile. Our waitress was just attentive enough to not be bothersome as my wife and I chatted about the day and some future plans. The Baby Back ribs melted off the bone and were delicious especially when adding the additional sweet BBQ sauce all over. There was a private dining room and private bar area downstairs that would be perfect for a late night gathering of good friends. Well worth the 1 block walk to 17th Street from the 16th Street Mall area.
