Enjoyed this restaurant very much. While enjoying a cocktail, a back-lit menu is presented and your order is taken while lounging by the fireplace. Amuse-bouche was also provided while we enjoyed our drinks and waited to be seated. Once seated at table, the food came quite quickly. Apps were good. Entrees were also good, but portions small. I didn't try dessert. I would recommend this restaurant to someone looking for fine dining in State College.

Everything was good up until the dinners were served. Both of our meals were luke warm, I was starving so I ate my chicken but did not eat the vegetables or rice. My husband sent his fish back bc he didn't want to eat cold fish. If it would of been warm, it would of been great. I guess the food sat too long before they served us.

We've stayed multiple times at the Inn and consider the restaurant the fine dining spot in State College. Old world charm where you sit in the library with drinks and place your order, then go into the restaurant when your first course is ready. Wonderful for conversation and usually great service. Had had their filet mignon, salmon, chilean sea bass, duck, venison and more.

In recent years my wife and I have returned annually to State College, PA, where we were married, to celebrate our anniversary with dinner at Carnegie House. We have always had an enjoyable experience there but our most recent visit was especially good. After drinks and appetizers in the cozily elegant library, we moved into the dining room where we were seated at a corner table as requested in our reservation. We both ordered and thoroughly enjoyed a sea bass special which was perfectly sauteed and presented on a bed of mashed potatoes with asparagus and a light lemon sauce. We shared a flourless chocolate cake with house made vanilla ice cream for dessert, which made a perfect ending for a delightful evening.

  • Amazing dinner, but desert....

The dinner menu was amazing, however, we were not enthused with the desert menu nor with the desert plates that we selected. We ordered the chocolate molten desert and the key lime slice, but neither of the two were anything but ordinary and we were left disappointed to have ended our dining experience with the desert nightcap as not following up with the outstanding dinner courses.
