    The food here was excellent but the menu standout is the papardelle. It's so good, I'm making up reasons to go back and have it again :)

    Our first time here won't be our last. Very eclectic menu. There were no vegan entrees on the menu, but the chef came up with one of the best vegan meals I've had in San Diego. My wife loved the squash ravioli. Fantastic service. Highly recommended.

    The new interior dining space is much cozier and love the library-esque flair. Our server was friendly and accommodating. Great food - I ordered the harvest squash salad with chicken and ate nearly every last crumb.

  • Omelets were less than satisfying;

    Omelets were less than satisfying; I am not certain the eggs were completely cooked through. if not for a small amount of pesto the taste would have been very blah! The plate presentation was not inviting with just the omelet and two slicesmof dry cold toast. The Sangria was good and the servers were very friendly. Came south from OC for brunch; not feeling like the food was worth the drive!

    Enjoyed a nice dinner which had some varied specials offered for the evening. Took the servers advice as our group had the meatloaf, baked pasta with clams and red snapper. All were well prepared and enjoyable.

    Visitwd while in town for a girls weekend away. It wasn't what we had hoped given the reviews. The veggies were better than the main course and the food was barely warm when served. None of the food was bad, but nothing was outstanding either. Just ok. Great space.

    Had dinner here on a Friday night. Ended up sitting indoors where, because of the area's small size, it was a little bit loud. My friend and I could hear each other talk, but we had to raise our voices a little. The service was terrific: friendly and knowledgeable. Everything had good flavor, but the problem was with temperature: our mimosas weren't cold enough and our entrees weren't hot enough. Both were pretty much room temperature which impacted our enjoyment of each. Shared the bread pudding for dessert and it was wonderfully warm. Will give it another chance on another night when it's not quite as busy. I'm optimistic that the things that were wrong will be right.

    Treated a business associate to lunch. The pork belly tacos really hit the spot, flavorful and fresh. Service was professional and prompt, just the way it should be. And the staff thanked us for our business on the way out. Bravo!

    We had only been to Prepkitchen one other time for brunch (outstanding!). This was our first dinner there. We were brave and perhaps a bit over-ambitious by bringing our three kids and our dog (pet friendly patio- bonus!). We were delighted by our experience from ambience to food to service. We felt welcome and at home and everyone had a delicious meal. Even the "kids" burger was very generous in proportion. We will definitely be back...next time for a date or with friends! It's a great setting for so many different occasions.

  • Not the Same Restaurant

    The Del Mar Prepkitchen recently reopened after an extensive remodeling effort that repaired last year’s fire damage. Unfortunately, it reopened with a significantly reduced and uninspiring menu that naturally featured higher prices. The kitchen and wait staff appeared to be disorganized which translated into poor service. Time may help repair the service and menu, but probably not the prices. This restaurant is not up to its old standard of food and service. So, don’t expect much.

    I was so excited to go back to Prepkitchen Del Mar since they recently reopened. The food is as wonderful as ever and did not disappoint. Our very friendly waiter, while extremely knowledgeable about the food and very nice, was tough to track down. Our food seemed to take an inordinately long time to come out (brunch -- pancakes, hash, pastrami sandwich) even though it did not appear to be busy. Even dessert took a long time (cookie sampler and bread pudding). The bread pudding was delicious, but had SUCH hot and lukewarm spots that it made me think it had been reheated in a microwave :-( It was still tasty though.

    We are so happy to have Prepkitchen open again in Del Mar. They always have interesting things on the menu that never fail to delight. My husband and I both started with the warm bean and arugula salad which is excellent. For my entree I had the shrimp and rigatoni which had lots of flavor with just the right amount of kick to it. My husband had the salmon and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were too full to try a dessert but saw a few go by that were very tempting. Our only disappointment was that they still don't have a machine to serve cappachino or expresso.. We will definitely be back again as this is one of our favorite spots in Del Mar.
