  • In Poughkeepsie... fantastic!

A surprising find. Drinks were great; the raw bar was excellent. Try the espresso and banana tart... to die for. Drinks just took a little too long and bread service wasn't great. But one can get over these minor issues with all the other great stuff.

Nice find in Poughkeepsie. Went for a Sunday brunch. Food and service was excellent - I had the seafood ceviche which was wonderful. Great ambiance also.

Service was very friendly, food was excellent! We've been to many high end steak houses but for a casual "french bistro" it was probably the best Ribeye steak I've ever had, cooked and seasoned to perfection.

My friend and I had a virtually perfect lunch at Brasserie 292. We were thoroughly impressed with the menu selections, food preparation and quality, and service. Fried oysters were particularly good, and the chocolate pot de creme was out of this world. They also offer a 3-course prix fixe "business lunch" menu, which was a great deal. The decor and design were attractive and comfortable. The entire staff were attentive, friendly, and professional. We were very pleasantly surprised to discover this gem in downtown Poughkeepsie (thanks to OpenTable), and would be happy to return next time we are in town. We can't think of a thing that could have been better--everything was just right, and we recommend it without hesitation.

  • We had friends coming to visit

We had friends coming to visit from Philadelphia, whom we haven't seen in 30 years, and chose the Brasserie 292 as our restaurant for dinner. We had never been here before. Our experience was absolutely amazing. We had a great time. The food and atmosphere were outstanding and the staff were all extremely friendly. Two of us had the salmon oscar, one of us had the scallops and another had one of the specials (short ribs)and we were not disappointed. All in all, our friends told us it was an excellent choice and it made our visit memorable.

We have been enjoying this great little Poughkeepsie gem for almost a year now and have NEVER been disappointed. Dan pays so much attention to every detail on every plate that leaves the kitchen and Chris makes everyone feel like family when they walk in the door. We have been known to show up several times a week and each time the food is better than the last. We still haven't made it through the regular menu items because the daily specials are unbelievably fantastic. Great bar, great food, great service, great people!

The owner Chris was friendly. There was a small group of CIA students there and he spent a lot of time with them explaining the restaurant business. The food was unbelievable. I usually don't get pasta out, but the fettucini arrabiata was delicious with calamari and shrimp.

Have been here twice. Glad to see them on Open Table as it was difficult to get in on short notice previously. Food selection & preparation were very good, as well as wine by the glass selection. I always enjoy a visit to this great restaurant !!

food was uninspired and bland. Pasta dish tasted as if the pasta was not cooked in salted water. I had the Friday special, bouillabaise and it didn't come with the fish mentioned by the waitress. Service was attentive and not intrusive.

This restaurant is phenomenal. It belongs in manhattan. The food is excellent and the ambiance is superb. It's not cheap but why would it be? It's an upscale restaurant and you definitely get what you pay for.

I went to Brasserie 292 at 9 pm, since I had only gotten out of work at 8:30 pm. I was running a few minutes late and they had our table ready the second we walked in the door. We got an appetizer, our entrees and a dessert, along with a bottle of wine. We took our time enjoying conversation, and we were never once rushed for any single course if the staff wanted to clean up and leave. We left about a quarter to midnight after a comfortable meal and great service. The staff never hovered and always offered something else, despite the late hour. My experience was very positive and I would be happy to return any time.
