People seemed to be having a good time. Noise level was a bit loud for me. It was busy the night I went with three others. There was not enough wait staff and our sever was very stretched and not very focused. Food was good. I had the chicken and mashed potatoes. Friends had the burger and the halibut. Both dishes were good but not necessarily good enough to overcome the service. This the fourth time I have been to The Social Club and I can't say that I would come back anytime soon.

Food is very good. Cocktails are inconsistent, they don't have a lot listed on their menu but those that they do have are good, however; if you ask for something classic like a Negroni it's not done well. The bar manager?/male bartender short and muscular seriously needs an attitude adjustment. He has no customer service ability.

When out to meet friends and again the service at Social was excellent. Was quickly seated and they knew I had reserved online. Food was consistently good from my last visit. I can see it's starting to be a well oil machine that you everyone else around is invisible but the friends you are there with to have a good time.

We made a last minute reservation for Valentine's dinner. We were a bit nervious because it was a holiday and it's a fairly new restaraunt. Wow, did we pick the right place! The food was excellent and the service was good. We started with the crab salad which was very good. The waittress recommended a glass of wine which was good (not excellent.) I had the short ribs and my husband had the NY steak. He seemed to like the NY state but the short ribs were divine. He kept trying to swipe my food. We finished off with chocolate chip cookies and a milk shake. Yummy! As far as ambience is concerned, it's nice enough. I wouldn't call it romantic but we had a quiet table and we both enjoyed ourself.

I don't understand the great reviews for this place. My husband and I were excited to try a new great restaurant in Petaluma. The service was terrible. Our order was taken pretty quickly but then we waited for 45 minutes before our food came (had to ask for bread - it was still frozen in the center) . Overdressed, wilted arugala killed what would have otherwise been a good starter. Then the entrees were a huge disappointment. My husband had the fried chicken - it had a thick doughy exterior and the breast was a bit dried out. He said the thigh was inedible. The mashed potatoes were salty with a weirdly sweet gravy. I had the petrale sole - not very good. Served with mashed potatoes that tasted like they came out of a box. Won't be back.

Surprising good...although somewhat off the beaten path of the main part of town, the Social Club was only a couple of blocks west of Petaluma Blvd. and was a wonderful experience. The food was great, the service was very professional, and the cocktails and beers were fine. We will definitely return.

My only disappointment was it was my friend's birthday and they did nothing for it. But besides that I liked the place a lot and I would go back.

Hi, I am a resident in Petaluma and heard lots of mixed reviews about The Social Club. I work at a 4 star restaurant in Marin and my standards are pretty high. My salmon was perfectly cooked - but flavor of the bed of beans - boring-flat. Endive Salad was amazing. Great and interesting mix of flavors. My friend said the Skirt Steak was the best she ever had and she dines a the best resturants in SF and Marin. Dessert was the apple crumble - it was good but not over the top delicious. Our server was warm and delightful and very focused on her service to us. We loved the atmosphere since all three of us were raised in San Francisco. Loved the raised booth. On a 1 - 10 scale-I would give it an 7 with a bullet going up!! Thanks

The service was a bit slow and the food was just slightly above average. However, The Social Club has a really cool vibe and the cocktails are fantastic. With the slow service and nothing that stuck out on the menu, we ended up just getting a few cocktails and appetizers (which ended up being a little more than fifty bucks). I would go back for sure because the drinks were so good.

If it wasnt for the food, I don't know if I would have liked it at all. The food was creative and well executed (including timely from the time we ordered it to when it arrived at the table.) Unfortunately my first introduction to the place was with a sour looking hostess who seemed to not like her job too much. She just looked bored, annoyed and wanted nothing to do with seating me and my friendsThat is never a good start. I really cant make a decision if I liked my server or not. He was unattentive and not super friendly in the beginning, and never gave us his name. But once we started ordering a ton of stuff, he was much more attentive and friendly. So, was he just busy at first or did he not care until he realized we were spending money

We almost did not go because of the previous reviews but we are glad we gave it a try. The management must be reding the reviews because we found the service excellent (compared to the previous poor reviews). We tried the Mac and cheese and beet salad for starter which was very good. For entrees (there were 4 of us), we had the fried chicken which was over seasoned and overlooked, the hanger steak was good, the salmon was okay and the Kobe hamburger was very good. So, overall the food was okay but not outstanding. I think it's worth giving it a try but with other restaurants like Cucina and Central Market with excellent food, we probably would not be going back. Again, we had excellent service which was a pleasant surprise .

We have gone to the Social Club a few times. We sat at the bar the first time and enjoyed the evening eating a few small appetizers that were perfect. We have gone twice for dinner and always seem to be seated near the door where a cold breeze causes you to put on your coat. The food was presented well and was good, but the portions are very small for the price. We probably will go back for the bar scene but probably not for dinner.

I really wanted to like this place, but first impressions spoiled that. We had a 6:30 reservation and arrived on time. Two hostesses met us and pointed to a table right next to the front door on a very cold evening. We saw that the restaurant was about half full so we asked to be away from the door. The brunette started to look around but her blonde counterpart said "that's the table you reserved". I asked if any other tables could be made available but she stated "they are all reserved and this is yours". Well, we sat down and had a decent, albeit very salty dinner. I liked the atmosphere and we had a nice waiter, but our reception had ruined the evening by now. We won't be returning. Too many nice places to deal with this.

Once again, our meal didn't disappoint! This has become our new "go to" special occassion place. Great ambiance & decor; good sized portions and great tasting food. This place makes you feel as tho you're in a hip, big city restaurant instead of being just a few miles away from home. Our server this time around wasn't as engaged as previous visits. In fact, he seemed bored and thoroughly uninterested. We had much better interaction from the two who actually served our food and cleared our table. Would not like to see him as our waiter again.....& would probably ask to be moved. He was the one downer of our evening.

This was our third time at the Social Club. The first two times went better. We were ignored by our waitress for fifteen minutes after being seated. She seemed unfamiliar with the concept of having a drink before deciding on a meal. I would have to say the service is inconsistent. Love the ambiance in this place with the exception of the televisions. I don't go out to watch tv. Food here is good though the portions are somewhat small. Generally, still like it there.

We were seated at a table for two, but it was too close to the table next to us. A further away table was never used, the whole time we were there. But we were there for the food: the salmon was translucent in the middle (I would say undercooked). The white beans were crunchy (undercooked). Beat salad was outstanding. French onion soup was great. Short ribs were dry.

I had the shortribs, they were tasty, not fatty and boneless. The desert we ordered were hot chocolate chip cookies with a vanilla shake, BUT the platter the cookies came on was "chilled" so the cookies were hard and cold??? NOT GOOD. Our waitress did not have a good memory and she wouldn't write anything down, so we didn't get out drinks that we ordered and we had to ask for water a few times, just needs more experience. The chairs are too big (around) for the tables, they stick out too far and all of the bar patrons bump into you as you are eating??

We came here for brunch. The food was good but not great--the huevos rancheros weren't very hot, although we were repeatedly warned about the temperature of the plate itself. All the prices seemed a couple dollars too high. I'd rather pay less to eat at the diner across the street or pay these prices for better food at Della Fattoria around the block. That said, the restaurant is very pretty. The service was ok. Much better than when we sat at the bar during a busy happy hour, and the very sweet bartender was incredibly frazzled.

This is our second time at the restaurant. The pattern has been a very quick approach by a server who wants to take your drink order before you've settled in, and then waiting a VERY long time for those drinks to show - like until after your food has arrived. There are a lot of servers around, but they need some polish. A little more training would go a long way. We were interrupted at least 4 times with an "is everything alright" rather than just a non-invasive check-in. As for the food, fried chicken was fantastic, shortrib, salmon, hanger steak were OK. Almost everything needed a little more oomph in the flavor department. We'll go back but if I notice the same deficits, it'll be time to speak to the manager.

The food was great, but the restaurant was a bit strange. We ate in the back room, which had big screen TV's, western-style furniture, and families. The front room with the bar looked more modern and interesting with a vibrant bar scene. The food was great, but we had a hard time getting drink orders from our waitress. I would have liked the back room to be more upscale without the TV's for people who want the fine dining experience away from the bar scene. It seemed like a place with potential, once they figure out what type of place they are trying to be.
