My husband and I are big fans of Dunne!!!! The menu is wonderful! So tasty-- the Sweet Pea gazpacho is to die for and the lobster salad is a major treat. The scallops are sinful.... love the beets... rizzotto... for dessert have the lavender creme brulee or the stawberry shortcake that has a special light twist!

Overall unpleasant experience. Host seemed confused about where to sit us so we had to wait 10 mins to sit down. Sat in very crowded main room in bar so no privacy. There was plenty of space upstairs for dining but it was all empty in mid-September. Food was overpriced and not all that exciting. Corn bisque with salad was bowl of soup with some greens for garnish in the middle. Bread wa 80% hard crust that just about took our fillings out. Pork loin was dry. Blue cheese grits looked like it should've been at the Big E. Skipped dessert...nothing looked that great. 1 glass of wine for me, 3 beers for hubby. Grand total? $175. Not worth it.

Had a lovely evening at Dune! We were seated outside on the patio near the host station which was very quiet, but we could still people watch. The service was excellent and the food amazing! Started with the lobster and peach salad, which was delicious and a generous portion. Then vegetable risotto, creamy, tangy and light. Ended the evening with a special lemon tart with blood orange sorbet, fabulous! Would highly recommend this restaurant!

Meh. Expected more based on the buzz on the island. Immediate impression was that of a confused host, with no room for people to stand in a very small foyer. Simple green salad good, perhaps over-salted. Softshell crab appetizer was very good. Pork chop was good, but not the melt in your mouth experience I was anticipating. Also a tad oversalted. I didn't say anything, thinking it was just my meal, and the next day discovered others in our party felt the same way. Perhaps the chef just had an off night. I wouldn't rush to return. Too many other gems on Nantucket.

Our last night on the island and we decided to eat @ Dune. Best choice ever! Food was fresh with amazing twists in preparation and presentation. I had a foie gras appie that came out chilled and thought Hmmm.... Until the flavors exploded-just awesome! Fish was equally outstanding Our waitress wasprofessional friendly and knowledgable. Inside and outside dining and bars. All in all i would highly recommend Dune for anyone wanting a perfect end to a perfect time in Nantucket!

First time to Dune, It's been here for a few years. With so many good places on Nantucket, hard to fit them all in. Decided to try Dune this year. I will go back next year. Had a great meal and great service. The bartender also knows how to make a great martini.

My friends and I had a 9:45 reservation on Saturday night, 8/18. The food was phenomenal, the ambiance great and the host in the garden level (a gentleman, I can't recall his name) was polite and professional. Our waiter, however, was very rude and unfriendly. He rolled his eyes repeatedly, and rushed our food order, claiming the restaurant kitchen was closing soon. (If this is the case, why offer a 9:45 pm reservation??) Also, my friend found a piece of glass in her entree. However, the entree was comped, and the issue was handled professionally and quickly.

Enjoyed our meal and the decor very much. Service could have been better...busboy who brought food out brought wrong entree to table and tried to deliver part of our table's appetizers to another table. Would have like our wine bucket at our table as had to ask waiter to refill our glasses and if our bottle was empty. Similar service mishaps occur at other resturants during the summer. The food was outstanding!

even for nantucket thisnwas a big disappointment. we ate here 2 years ago and were pleased. this time was terrible. service, ambiance are all fine and the upstairs room was quiet. food was very mediocre. chicken - overcooked (how is it possible for a restaurant these days to overcook chicken?!?!). scallops - hard and rubbery. steak - flavoless. vegetables oversalted and oversauced. this one is forever crossed off our list.

Like many Nantucket restaurants Dune is located in an old house, so there are many dining areas. Ours was upstairs, in a nicely decorated comfortable room. My one complaint was that the stairway was rather steep. Tha menu was heavily weighted to seafood, which worked well for my party of four. All of the dishes were well prepared, with fresh local ingredients. The service was excellent and our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. Noise level was moderate and it was easy to converse without shouting. Overall a pleasant evening.

We had a very nice meal. My wife had the lobster salad for her entre and asked for the dressing on the side, it came dressed. If we did not have that mistake the rating for service would have been excellent. I had the cod special which was terrific. Overall a nice place to cellabrate thirty three years of marriage.

Excellent meal all around. Seated on the nice litlle patio on a warm August night. Delicious warm bread and alter butter. There was a bit of a long wait for a waiter as I think no one was assigned out table, but when this was realized I felt that they worked especially hard and the service was perfect. In addition, they made our first two glasses of wine complimentary to apologize for the delay. We started with the tuna tartare which was fantastic. I had the double rack of lamb special which was perfectly cooked. My girlfriend had an endive salad which was good. Too full on that delicious bread for desert. Overall a fantastic meal and wonderful atmosphere.

Sleek, modern decor; dining on multiple levels; friendly, competent service. The food was exceptional in quality, creativity, and visual presentation. The beet salad, lobster salad, swordfish and fluke were all outstanding. Excellent wine selection. The taste of chocolate dessert, with three intense offerings, was a perfect way to end the evening. The noise level was moderate when we sat down at 7PM, but by 8:30 we could not converse without yelling, which is what many patrons were doing. We finished near 9 PM, and by then my dinner companion had developed a headache and was pressing fingers to her ears to muffle the sound from the foursome next to us.

The lunch menu was quite limited. One of the 4 of us ordered the hamburger, which was $19. He ordered it rare, and it came completely overcooked. We requested bread, and the server replied that they had none. It would seem to me that they would send someone out to a local bakery to get some!
