Excellent Sushi in Harlem 4 blocks from my House. Have been wanting to try this place for awhile and was pleasantly surprised. Good food, decor, sushi chefs and servers. The scene on a Sunday night was bustling - almost too much (+dozens of take out/delivery orders) as the service ended up being a bit slow - but that's the price to pay when you're the only great sushi restaurant in a neighborhood that was clearly ready for one. Arigato!

Well I really wanted to give Jado a flawless review based on my first visit in December. The calamari and ribs were to die for. But now speeding up to valentines day, First, they decided to create a new menu will almost nothing from their regular menu. I was greatly disappointed. The food was not good. Hope they never change up the menu like that again. It put a damper on my anniversary.

A wonderful addition to the neighborhood! The space is pretty, the staff is very nice, and the somewhat latin-inflected sushi is fresh and nicely prepared. The best sushi in town? No. But a very nice place in a neighborhood with an increasingly diverse and good range of dining options that needed a sushi place. I'll be back frequently.

Good drinks, good food, good energy, nice staff - only issue was the VERY long wait for food and bill. Hopefully, it was an anomoly (Friday night at 7pm.) If the service and kitchen are as stretched next visit, I'll probably reserve the place for off peak time only. Still, nice to see a place hopping in Harlem.

The service was absolutely terrible. We heard good things about the restaurant from a colleage and decided to try it. After we were seated, it took the waiter quite a while to come by to take our drink order. We ordered a bottle of sake. 10 minutes later, the waiter comes back to tell us that the particular brand we ordered was not available. We were disappointed and chose another. The waiter disppears for yet another 10 minutes, and brings back a bottle that was NOT what we ordered. At this point, it's already been half an hour since we arrived. we were frustrated and just decided to just accept the wrong bottle of sake... The food arrived more promptly but nothing was particularly great. It was very disappointing.

I enjoyed my meal. I read several reviews before booking my reservation and I am glad I did. It was New year eve so I excepted to wait or to be noisy but that was not the case. The hostess was very pleasant & sat us immediately (table for 2). I ordered the soy calamari small plate, nice portion and flavor. Then the tuna speciality roll with mango and spicy mayo sauce. Although I enjoyed this roll I thought it would have been larger. It was 6 average sized rolls (not like the large speciality rolls my friend had). Despite the small size roll my food was delicious and the service was great. I will be back, its in my neighborhood. Thank you Jado for bringing fresh & great tasting sushi to Harlem.

Great ambiance, decor and general vibe. Food and drinks were delicious, with the exception of the Butternut squash soup which came unsalted. Once a pinch of salt was added (after asking waiter twice), it was very tasty. Only real frustration was that the waiter seemed completely clueless, unable to remember what we ordered, repeatedly walked by saying "be right there" but took 15 mins to even take drink order, and didn't even know what a key menu item was. But everyone else was helpful and charming.

The food is fresh but unimaginative. It's a standard sushi restaurant but with higher prices. I had the sashimi assortment - it was basic, with the standard fish options but less pieces. I would not mind paying its prices if I thoughtthe quality of the food represented the pirice, but itthe didnt. The service is excellent.

I went with a group of friend for a casual sushi dinner. One friend hates anything that comes from the ocean, so it's great they offer "no raw fish" options. The Jado chicken was amazing. Sushi had a great balance, but the entire meal was very overpriced. If I'm in the area I'll definitely go back.

When we arrived, we noted that the place was packed with people already. We made our way to the bar and had delicious cocktails until we were able to be seated. When seated, the sound-level was loud, we could talk and our waiter was quick to take our order. We met the owner (Nobuo) and thoroughly enjoyed our sushi dinner. Highly recommended and hope that they open another restaurant in our neighborhood!

This is the 2nd time I have been to this establishment. The 1st time was when it first opened so I know they still were working out a lot of new opening issues. This time around, I didn't feel there was any excuse for service issues and mismanagement of reservations. I had 8:30pm reservations and was not seated until 9pm. The hosted apologized but I felt like it was unacceptable since the wait time for walk-in seating was 30 minutes. There was no gesture of service recovery offered and when I asked she said she would send the owner over. The owner never came over but was walking around talking to ppl at tables. He skipped over coming to our table. I asked her again if the owner would come over. He never came. Won't go there again.

Appetizers were delicious and unique. Sushi was "good," meaning fresh and good quality, but very run-of-the-mill "good." as someone who lived in Japan for 13 years, I am always satisfied with"good," but would not go to Jado on a night when I wanted a special sushi fix. As a spot for appetizers and delicious cocktails, with fresh ingredients, as well as enough space between tables that I felt relaxed, Jado is a great addition to the neighborhood, and I would definitely recommend it.

Still new, trying to get its footing. We arrived 20 minutes late to our reservation and they had already released our table (although there were many tables empty) and told us it would be a 20 minute wait for a table. We had a drink at the bar and after 25 minutes asked about the status ( the empty tables from before were still empty). Told that we were next to be seated - waited another 15 minutes and after asking another couple of times was finally seated. Sushi was ok - not the freshest and just meh. We're happy that there is finally a sushi place in Harlem but this place has some kinks to work out.

Long overdue Japanese restaurant in Harlem. The venue is beautifully done with a good vibe. Menu options still need refining. Small plates are not that small. Entrees are not that full a portion. What is missing though is service. A welcoming receptionist but wait staff don't have it together. They brought us the wrong items which actually was an order from another table. When they finally did bring our order, there were missing Items. Considering this was early in the night and restaurant not that busy yet. Wine order had to asked a couple of times. Tempura was greasy too btw

This was our first time here and may be our last sadly. We were so excited about this newly opened restaurant in our neighborhood. Our server (Branden, thank you!) was great, working very hard, always checking in and inquiring about our opinion of the food. Drinks were a little bit pricy, but delicious. Appetizers/bar food were yummy, but sushi was just okay. Such a shame because we are hoping to have a great sushi in South Harlem... Maybe we will try again in 6 months!
