  • Great place for Sunday brunch!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012

The only problem that my friends and I encountered was that one of the servers or "bus persons" cleared the plates too quickly (including the container of ketchup) without checking to see if we wanted the plates to be cleared. These staff members need to realize that patrons want to take their time. The restaurant was not busy toward the end of our meal so there was no need to rush to clear the table.

We had a good first experience there aside from the fact that we had to yell at each other to be heard---the waiter couldn't even hear me. The food was good but it was pricey given the small portions. The vegetable salad is a work of art ---beautiful but with the thinly shaved veggies it amounted to about 1/2 cup for $8. Salmon was delicious.

The food was VERY good! We ordered many small plates to share including fried pickles (a favorite of mine and these were FANTASTIC), baby octopus salad (very good), scallops (very good), charcuterie plate (good), crab mac 'n cheese (FANTASTIC, would have licked the bowl and none of us like restaurant mac 'n cheese!), crispy pork belly (FANTASTIC), sweet potato cheesecake (very good), three ice creams (very good), and the Chocolate PB Bar (FANTASTIC). I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. The view can't be beat and the service was FANTASTIC.

The atmosphere and service was great there, but I had mixed feelings about the food. I ordered the flank steak and really enjoyed the leek and potato purée. It was very good. The onion rings weren't my personal taste. They were very sweet and for me, I didn't like sweet onion rings. As for the steak, it was good, but not great. My main comment is that it was pretty plain. I will most likely go back in the future, but I won't go out of my way to go there again.

I'm always looking for new restaurants to try in Denver. Central Bistro was an easy find with the burgeoning LoHi district. It's on Central street overlooking downtown Denver and provided a fantastic view at night. We went on a TUE night and apparently this was new for them (only the 3rd time open on TUE) and they had some great Happy Hour specials and 40% off all bottles of wine. Score! From recommendations from the bartender while I waited on the table, we ordered the dumpling starter, duck & pork chop for entrees. All 3 were fantastic with the Dumplings being a must order!! People has complained about the prices, they are a little high, but you won't be disappointed.

Dishes were presented beautifully and tasted quite good. The amuse was not great and not expected with the feel of the restaurant. The chef felt we waited too long for our appetizer so he sent out a carrot sorbet as an intermezzo which was lovely. Pork belly was delicious, but oddly the highlight was the presentation of the raw vegetable salad with great flavors and textures.

My in laws were in town and we wanted to take them to a new neighborhood hot spot. The menu looked delicious as usual and we all ordered our meals. Unfortunately, my mother in law's meal did not arrive with everyone else's because of a miscommunication with the kitchen. It was a bit awkward and we thought our dinner would be ruined, but NO! The manager came and brought her a lovely risotto so she could begin eating with the rest of us and when her dinner finally came, it was delicious. The manager did not charge her for her meal and even gave her an additional gift card for our next visit! Everyone makes mistakes, but many places could learn a lesson or two from Central Bistro on customer service! GREAT JOB!

We ate the risotto, the goat cheese dumplings, the corn nuts, the monk fish, the salmon, the waffle and an irish coffee. The food was very, very good. Lots of flavor profiles. This chef could cook for me everyday. The service was OK. Not as good as the food. The waitress wasn't wearing a bra so that was a bonus for me. We'll go back for more food and fun.

Our food was outstanding as was the service. I especially liked that they had a full bar, with dozens of brands of Bourbon to choose from and the wine list was great too. The homemade "cornnuts" are fabulous as was hte white gazpacho. The pork chop and lamb entrees were outstanding and cooked perfectly.

The service was lackluster. The server seemed to be in a hurry even though we were early for our reservation and it was still early in the evening and the dining room was empty. They brought my husband the wrong plate of food and were not particularly worried about correcting the problem. The food we did get was tasty but unremarkable.

The restaurant's only been open for 9 weeks, but both the front of the house and the kitchen ran with seamless efficiency. Presentation and inventive menu items were uniformly excellent. Everything from happy hour to a scrumptious dessert makes dining at Central Bistro unforgettable. You will find a valet to park your car, a selection of creative cocktails, and a meal that leaves you happy, not uncomfortably stuffed. Happy hour, from 4:30-6:00, is just the right time for a pre-dinner, reasonably priced drink or two. We had the pork chop and the vegetarian entrees. One of our friends had the onion rings with his flat-iron steak, and didn't stop talking about them all weekend. My husband enjoyed the "apple-pie" dessert, and I had the sorbet selection. The staff is experienced & courteous. A sparkling cityscape tops off a lovely evening. Dinners, appetizer, desserts, drinks, for five - very affordable. Don't miss it!

The Central Bistro has absolutely outstanding food with vibrant flavors and nice presentation. So far I've been twice and haven't been disappointed. The desserts are also fantastic, especially the waffle and the peanut butter bar. The service is also solidly good though not great. Though not open long, the Bistro's quality is getting known and the restaurant is now crowded with the young and upwardly mobile, who pack into the chic but ridiculously noisy bar area.
