A word from Crudo
Crudo means Raw in Italian, that is one of our specialties. Our sashimi style plates are started with fresh fish, olive oil, citrus and sea salt and finished with perfectly paired accompaniments to enhance the texture and flavor of the plate. Our modern Italian menu is inspired by local and seasonal ingredients to create unique and memorable dishes. In addition to crudo, we have a variety of handmade cooked dishes and wood fire grilled meats. In our bar and lounge you can enjoy a nibble with garden to glass cocktails or sip on after dinner drinks. Now serving Sunday Brunch with a variety of unique twists on traditional classics.

I was very impressed with the quality of the food at Crudo. We tried 8 different dishes on the menu, and 6 of them were outstanding, and 2 were good. We felt the crudo, mozzarella, and cooked portions of the menu were amazing, but the grilled items, while good, were not as good as the other parts of the menu. This might only be because of the season, and fall menus are not really our favorites (too much squash, cauliflower, and fall spices for our liking). We will definitely go back again, though, given how good the food was in the first 3 sections. Crudo also had some of the best, and freshest, fish we have tried in Phoenix, which is not known as a seafood destination.

  • A boring night at Crudo.

After reading the reviews on yelp and urban spoon I was expecting a wonderful evening with great food that excited my taste buds. The service I would like to say was exceptional, atmosphere was moderned yet simple just like the food. The food lacked excitement and taste. I had the butterfish crudo, the ink squid rosito, and the veal. All tasted plain, almost thought for a second I was eating at king tables buffet and then I got the bill. Overall experience was wonderful besides what I put in my mouth. Won't be attending this resturant again.

We enjoyed our dinner at Crudo. We had three plates for $45.00 and that was plenty. I enjoyed two of the three plates. The food is pretty rich which I find difficult to digest. My first course of ahi tuna was incredibly good - a wonderful combination of tastes. The second course was the burratta which was lovely but of course pretty rich. My third course was the veal which I could not eat because their was too much fat in the veal. The service was excellent and the wine was good but I'm not sure I would return.

All things being equal I guess I expected to be blown away by crudo when instead it was just a decent meal. Inexplicable kitchen delays, a server who was nice but nowhere near as engaging as the other servers on staff, and simply not very 'memorable' for nearly $100.

This was my second visit to Crudo since the re-opening in new location. Again, this is a terrific venue. Open, artfully arranged and decorated with plenty of space for patrons to enjoy the mood and food. The service was impeccable. Just the right level of interaction and attention to detail. The cocktails at Crudo are a must and the separate bar area is equally worthy of patronage. Be sure to check out the massive wall sized menu rendered in chalk. The only thing that keeps Crudo from perfection in my book is the raw fish courses. They are very good but not transcendent. The cheese courses, sides, and meat dishes are terrific. All in all, deserving of it's rep and worthy of repeat visits.

As I didn't quite know what to expect, the food and the experience turned out great. It was great trying different flavor combinations. Our server was extremely nice and helpful and allowed us the time to relax and think the menu over. The food and ambiance were outstanding at Crudo. We enjoyed our time at the bar, sipping on the unique cocktails pleasantly made by an engaging bartender. Dinner was outstanding, but good grief -- the service can only be described as "HOVERING." The plates at Crudo are small, and to be shared. This means that throughout the evening, plates are coming and going frequently. While beginning to enjoy each plate, we were soon approached with the inevitable "How is it?" I appreciate the server's motivation, but really, I don't want to answer multiple times. Also, if we're sitting there with smiles on our faces, digging away at the plates, can't you assume, Dear Server, that "it's fine?" I will call you over if there's an issue. I promise.

Everything we ordered was very good. If I had to stack them, however, I would put the gnocchi at the bottom. Gnocchi is always a challenge, though. The puddles were a tad heavy, but the sauce was heavenly. Butterfish was to die for, and the raw dishes were outstanding. Wine list is a big, fat 10.

Saw this restaurant on the cover of Phoenix magazine, and had to try it during our recent visit to Phoenix. It's a little hard to find, but has a cool, eclectic feel. The service was phenomenal! Maureen was our server and told us all about the history of the restaurant and the chef. She knew so much about it all that I asked if she had a bigger role than server and she admitted she was a partner in the restaurant. I knew then we would have a great experience. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and we each chose the 5 course dinner, which was unique to me as I could choose 5 individual dishes or any combination...meaning if i really liked a dish, I could get a second order and that would count as a course. That's exactly wha

Despite pre booking. the hostess's welcome was indifferent at best at best. The next shock of the new decor (we had been faithful, former Backstreet devotees)also threw us but fortunately we were seated in a secluded part so soon overcame ambience apprehensions. We've adapted to the new American moderne. The menu is not only conceptually well formulated but the food is even more innovative and delicious. A stellar eating experience. The fried pigs' ears which were ordered as a whimsical experiment proved to be outstanding and immediately praised by all. Additionally this place might serve the best drinks in town. The place is definitely a "keeper" and we will once again become regulars at Backstreet's reincarnation.

Was told about Crudo a week ago by a colleague and so gave it a try. This is a great hidden gem of a restaurant. Our server Maureen was great - she recommended a great wine (the list isn't extensive, but has some good bottles) and we ordered the 3 course tasting menu which is the way to go. The food was fabulous - we will definately be back soon. So glad we heard about this place

Crudo never disappoints - I've yet to find a miss on their menu, which is chock full of bright, fresh, seasonal flavors. The bar list is skillfully done. Service always gracious, and the space, while spartan, is sleek, modern, and comfortable. Do at least get the three course tasting, and spare room for a Tracy Dempsey dessert.

    Dined on 9/21/2012
An enjoyable first visit to the newly re-opened Crudo. The service was top notch, the new space is really interesting and unconventional, and the food was tasty, but not as I had hoped. This was no fault of the restaurant, but rather a result of going during restaurant week (I had no idea beforehand). Because of the bi-annual gastro extravaganza, the Crudo menu was limited. I felt like I got a wink from an attractive compelling woman when I was hoping for a languorous kiss. Sure, being left wanting is a good feeling, but being sated is even better. Next time will be the charm, to be sure.

If Crudo was in Chicago or New York or San Francisco, you could not get a reservation to eat there for months. Luckily, it is in laid back Phoenix that doesn't go crazy when an absolutely amazing new restaurant opens in its midst. The squid ink risotto was Heaven on earth. We split two plates for each course and could not identify one that was any better than the other. We will return to Crudo for the chef's tasting menus as often as we can before the rest of the city discovers it and we have to book two months in advance.

Actually hit up three different restaurants for this past restaurant week. Crudo was by far the best and the only one I would return to outside of restaurant week. We savored every bite, from their bacon relish to their butterfish to the Romanian style escargot. I've never had such a flavor-packed risotto - perfect amount of heat - and the pork belly is a must. I'm not a big dessert guy but those were good, too.

Crudo was excellent! We went for our anniversary, and noted that on our OpenTable reservation. The waitress brought complimentary glasses of Prosecco! The prices are great--three courses for $35, four courses for $45, five courses for $55. We of course tried all 5 courses, which was really too much food, but it was all delicious. Definitely try the crudo course--the yellowtail and albacore we had was silky and perfect. All the courses were well prepared and presented and service was very good. Recommending to everyone I know.

Wanted to love this place but the experience was not smooth. We arrived at 7:00 and were seated immediately. Ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers and our 3 courses each. We specifically asked for our gnocchi course to be served as a shared course after the crudo . A few minutes after our appetizers arrived so did our first course. Way too soon so we asked them to slow down the speed. Instead of getting our gnocchi next to share my wife was served her entree and me the gnocchi. When we complained the response was to say they would rush out my entree. I then received a tough piece of pork belly. While the whole point of course meals to enjoy each service, the timing lead to taking home the gnocchi untouched. Disappointing.

Outstanding! A bright, fresh, seasonally and locally-inspired menu with lots of options - anything from snacks in the bar to a menu offering a la carte items, 3 course, 4 course, and 5 course tastings in the beautifully minimalist/rustic/modern dining room that is cozy and inviting. I dined with a party of six. We started off in the bar and then moved into the dining area and all did the four-course tasting menu, which allows you to choose any four items from the entire menu (even if you choose to do all cheese, crudo, main or pasta courses). Every dish was truly delicious and we left full and very satisfied, unlike some tasting menus. So friendly and inviting and really one of the best restaurants in Phoenix. Can't wait to go back!
