I dined at Harlan Social on Saturday. I loved the open kitchen & overall layout & ambiance of the restaurant. We had a very friendly, knowledgeable server who introduced himself as Paris. He was very informative and attentive, helping us decide on wine and cocktails right away. He also made excellent suggestions when my sister & I were having difficulties narrowing down what to order. We decided on the Beet Salad & the onion Pierogies to start, both were delicious. My sister had the burger and I had the scallops. We both enjoyed our entrees, especially the burger. I really liked the bits of pancetta as well in the scallop dish. We had the panacotta for dessert. Delicious, but small portion. I'll def be back to try more of the small plates.

some places try too hard and some need to try a little harder. if you want to be a "gastro-something" the food needs to be good enough so people come back for the food. many places make it (or don't) on their scene (take a look at 1114 Kitchen). This place is a nice scene, but I wouldn't go back for that -- there are others. The food was good, but they need to try a little harder if it is about the food. The summer pea hummus was yummy, but it was paired with heavy slices of toasted spiced pita that were very filling; there was no other way to eat the hummus. The salmon was small and dry. The bartender struggled with basic drinks -- don't come for the mixology. But overall, still good and worth another look.

Great addition to area devoid of any stylish restaurants. Food surprisingly good. Wine and beer list both great. We will go back

Tasty food in small portions makes this a good place to share/sample dishes. Which shouldn't be hard to do because the menu is extensive, but it's really repetitive. Sames veggies/herbs in numerous dishes. I asked the host if there was somewhere to put my wet umbrella and the answer was no, with no offer to find a spot. Our waiter was nice, but a little awkward and he forgot to come back to get our entree order... so the staff seemed pretty inexperienced. Decent scene at the bar (packed), but drinks list was not very exciting. The restaurant side felt a little cold and cavernous. Good meal (sea bass + goat cheese rav), but overall experience just OK. Worth checking out, but not sure I'll go back. You can definitely do better in Stamford.

We dined here during their first week of operation and found the food to be top notch and the service great. Parking is not a problem which is a plus given that this is Stamford. This was one of the best meals we have had in quite a while and we will definitely be returning often. A great addition to the restaurant scene!

We went with friends and our 2 year old for Sunday brunch. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Since they had just opened, everything was spotless. We all enjoyed our meals and would rate the food above average. During the time that we were there it was definitely a family/kid friendly environment. We will definitely be back to check out the dinner/bar scene at some point soon.

Food was delicious. Service was slow and disorganized, but that's to be expected from a brand new restaurant. We're confident the service kinks will be worked out and plan to return to Harlan Social for another great dining experience.

  • Food was fabulously prepared

Food was fabulously prepared and presented, however the portions were ridiculously tiny. I'm all for portion control, but this is just silly. Large pasta entree, would barely be an appetizer size at another restaurant. Panzanella salad was more crouton, than tomato or fava bean. I exchanged it for the beet salad which was a much better choice. Wines were priced well, and were great selections.

Given the new status of the restaurant, I felt there were some things they can still work on and will get better with time. One thing I noticed was the bus service was too fast. I was still eating and my plate was nearly taken from me, so I felt rushed to eat. That is example of something that changes with time and experience. A fundamental issue I found with the restaurant was small serving sizes. A group of 4 of us went and we were all quite hungry. After sharing two plates from the "small plates" menu, and each of us getting our own entree, we still felt hungry. So, if you are 'not that hungry', you should be fine. The host, Ron, was extremely nice and it was great talking with him.

I loved the upbeat feel of the place. The food was great....I had the pieroge appetizer and the hanger steak. My friend had the salmon and he also enjoyed it. The service was good and we had a friendly waiter. The decor was really nice and everyone around us seemed to be having a good time also.
