  • One of the best meals I have
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010VIP

One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Every dish was excellent, from appetizers through dessert. The scallop appetizer started off the meal with a kick, and it continued all evening. We had the john dory, seared tuna, prawns, beets, cauliflower, rice, etc. Even the lamb ribs were done perfectly. The wine choice, with a little help from you, was perfect. Awaiting our return anxiously.

Everything we ate was delicious and the bread was fantastic too. My only criticism would be that I feel the portions on the crudo and on the lamb ribs were too small. A little less "stuff" and a little more "meat" would be appreciated.

  • Ate at Crave twice last week

Ate at Crave twice last week because the food is that awesome, the decor (obsessed with the wine bottles displayed over the bar) and service are top notch and since the menu changes seasonally I'm always trying something new and fresh. Great wine list, the chef will surprise you with with his creativity and flavor profiles and the staff and management do a great job from the minute you walk in the door. Location is ideal for fish loving foodie midtowners. And try their desserts - the pumpkin cupcake is heaven! Crave has become my favorite local spot and all I'm waiting for is them to start brunch service on weekends. I crave the Crave!

Excellent cocktails. They encourage you to sample wines before you make your selection which is nice and gives you a chance to try something new before committing. The Sour Cream Tart was a great ending to the meal. We didn't want a heavy dessert after having appetizer and entree and it was perfect.

My second trip to Crave since their re-open. The true great restaurants always get better with each visit, and Crave is one of them. Black bass sashimi to start, split the poached octopus with my wife, and the John Dory over wheatberry salad nailed its role as the main event. Plenty of seafood joints can get a close to just caught fresh taste, Crave delivers the most recent of swimming delicacies and exploits the boldest and most intricate of seasonal local produce to bring things to the next level. Heard some whispers of a raw bar premiere soon. That will take this blossoming and new, but not a rookie spot to the next level.

Welcome to the neighborhood Crave Fishbar! What an amazing gem! Two girlfriends and I decided to try Crave Fishbar last night and we were so happy we did! Our server, James was very thorough, friendly and knowledgeable about every item on the menu. We started w/ a bottle of wine and shared two appetizers... the crab over garbanzo beans and the bass sashimi, per James' suggestion. From our first bites, we knew our entrees would not disappoint. For our main courses, we shared the Tilefish, the Diver Sea Scallops and the Tuna. All were absolutely divine. We felt like we were able to eat out guilt-free on a Saturday night, which is such a rarity. We passed on dessert only because we were so satisfied from our meal. I can't wait to go back!!

Fish was average at best. I ordered two appetizers, both with raw fish and it was definitely not sushi quility. Waitress served nuts to my friend who specifically stated that she was allergic and cannot have them on her salad. Specialty cocktails were not worth ordering. Too bad because we could really use a great fish place in the area.

This restaurant isn't ready for prime time. They were out of multiple entrees and appetizers. They brought a check with 2 items we had not ordered, we're very slow to return the proper check and offered no apology. They allowed us time to eat but all essentially rushed us out with a quick cursory offer of coffee or tea and no offer of dessert. (maybe they were out of desserts!) there may be potential, and the food was very good, but they have been opened long enough to iron out these kinks as well as provide better service. I would not return or recommend Crave to anyone.

Recently opened neighborhood seafood restaurant is out of the gate nicely. Seems to have found a good following quickly. Our waitstaff, James, was excellent with a fun British personality, unlike most insensitive, numb, self absorbed NY waitstaff. Food was really good. Owner also engaged and checked on us twice. This restaurant is worth the trip.

Welcome Back Todd Mitgang. If you are looking for fantastic, creative seafood in midtown east, Crave is the place. The olive oil poached octopus is tender and flavorful. Don't miss the house smoked bluefish and the spicy tuna on yuca. The broiled flounder is cooked to perfection. Interesting and inventive twist on seafood. Tried two appetizers: scallops and pork belly. Really intense flavors. Scallops was fresh and the puree was the perfect complement. The pork belly was rich and I could have easily have had it for a main course with a side. Can't wait to try the other appetizers. Spaghetti was good on its own, flavors more subtle compared to the apps. I can't remember the proper dessert name but I remembered peaches and thyme note. It was amazing! Coffee could be served hotter though. Almost wish it was in a larger space, felt a bit constrained in the tables for 2. Like the rustic-mod ambiance. Best for a party of 4, so you could have one of the booths. Great service staff: professional, friendly & knowledgeable.

I can't remember being as excited as I was to hit a new restaurant. Crave delivered on the hype from the Times and other outlets, and is deserving of more. Professionally run, neighborhood feel, no fake corporate smiles here. A business dinner felt like being at a friend's house. The menu that changes daily was creative but logical. Local fish from Long Island waters were prepared perfectly. You know you're at the right spot when tilefish, hake, jonah crabs, and local fluke are on the menu. Crave is getting their second chance after an unfortunate crane accident closed their first location. Second time's a charm. Just remember you're on 50th/2nd, not Montauk.

Crave does not disappoint. You can feel comfortable wearing something that fits your mood. It has seating choices like,a vibrant bar scene,an open porch like sidewalk view or back of the house where you can inhale the full affect of the rstrnt. The waiters here are excited about the food. The house cocktails are all unique and every bit refreshing and delicious. Just when you start molding to the lively atmosphere, sipping your drink, the food comes and it is as every bit pleasing. I recommend the smoked blue fish salad, not one element lacking in flavor. The oyster mushroom side which encompasses both oyster mushrooms and oysters that dance with buttery goodness in your mouth and the Sheep’s Milk Cavatelli that is anything but boring.
