I felt that some of the prices were a bit steep (appetizer of one 3" crab cake was $16), but overall it was a cool ambience, quality service (starting with the ladies at the hostess desk), and tasty bites & signature cocktails.

Attentive staff..almost overly so..but I get the opening energy level. Food average for Phoenix. Well presented but limited sizzle..nothing special. Nice layout but would not recommend sitting near kitchen area..too much stress & hustle to relax. We had dinner..might try it again for lunch once they smooth out the bumps.. Nice to have the Open Table reserv. option and the valet was very efficient. Thx.

The music was a little too loud for people to carry on a conversation. I will use this restaurant mostly for entertaining clients. I don't believe there are many quite spots in the restaurant to carry on a business discussion. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. They really make you feel welcome.

The food was delicious; server was friendly; a little kink in the order but it was not a big deal and our server offered to correct it. For just opening, I thought they did a great job. Also, our server was attentive knowing we were on a lunch break and had to get back to work. Overall, it was a very good experience. They have a rooftop section that I will check out when the weather cools off.

Took over the old Houston's location in the Esplanade and expanded and remodeled it greatly. Much lighter and more modern now. Food was good with some interesting and unusual offerings. Wait staff was a little overly aggressive. The added upstairs/outdoor patio looks like a great place for when the weather is nice.

We enjoyed our dinner at Del Frisco's Grille on a Saturday night. The food was delicious, and our server was great - the only negative comment I have is that we waited nearly 30 minutes to be seated (and we had a reservation!!)... It is also very noisy - but overall a fun place.

We have been a fan of Del Frisco's Double Eagle for years in Dallas, Vegas & New York. This was first time at a grill. Menu is very good several of the original favorites eit new emphasis on a lighter casual fare as well. Resturant space us nicely laid out a bit noisy but not too loud. Servers are very attentive and lovely. Only complaint is food was a bit cool and you can see they are getting bugs out of a first week opening.

We arrived on time and were seated immediately. Great space and wonderful service. It went downhill from there though. Nice menu but many items were overpriced, especially the starters. We wanted to try a little of everything so started with the crab cake and the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. The egg rolls were excellent but there were exactly 2 cut diagonally and I believe they were $14. The crab cake was good, not a lot of binder so very crabby but again, overpriced. We also ordered the prime shaved sandwich and it was the biggest disappointment. Overcooked and dry. I was envisioning Hillstone's French Dip and it wasn't even close. Service was, however, phenomenal and it did seem like they were trying to do everything right. May try again

Fabulous , the service was right on, the food was great but just a little off which I attribute to the newness of the staff. The decor is top flight. I highly recommend.

Our evening here was really great. The valet is complimentary which is a plus. When we walked into the door I was uncertain what kind of establishment this was... Simply because there was this hostess in a polka dot spaghetti strap blouse and EVERYTHING was hanging out. I'm not saying there is a problem for the guys coming in but I definitely wouldn't bring my girlfriend here because she'd feel uncomfortable. And I could tell that the other women felt annoyed every time this polka dot bombshell refilled water at tables near us. Anyway, food was delicious our server was great. I'd love to bring my girl on a date here. Hopefully the gals up front can get some more clothing by the next time we come in. Make sure you check out the roof

We have tried the Grille 3 x now. Wish I could say it is getting better. Unfortunately, the items the staff recommend just do not cut it. We read and spoke with quite a few people that actually ate the food. The general concensious was that the opening kitchen staff did well. Things just did not continue upwards. We really want this place to succeed. The lunch bunch have the items down to salads and their version of the French dip. The comment heard most is the food is bland. Someone has got to tell the kitchen that salting the food does not make it better. The crab cake and the coconut cream were much better the first visit. Dry due to over prepping, plate actually had Saran wrap pieces on the bottom of the dessert plate.. Good Luck

  • del frisco's has potential
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012

Newly opened and still working out the kinks, del Frisco's has a lot of potential. The Esplanade is historically a tough spot for restaurants - with the adjacent office space, there surely is plenty of anxious clientele. Maybe the del Frisco's price point is to accommodate for the high rent district? The transformation of the old Houston's space is remarkable - modern and energetic, it has a great feel. The wall of wine is a site to behold. And I look forward to checking out their cocktail concoctions. But I could do without the short skirts. The menu is limited and a bit pricey for lunch, but what they do, they do well, and they are willing to make accommodations - I ordered the Steakhouse Salad, hold the steak, add chicken.

My husband and I dined at Del Frisco's on their opening night. Service was good, especially for a busy opening night. Their signature cocktails were well balanced and refreshing, not overly strong. The ahi tuna 'taco' appetizer was perfect, a fun twist on tuna tartare. We ordered the filet with mashed potatoes and the short rib stroganoff. Both dishes were well prepared and balanced well with their accompaniments. We declined dessert but I look forward to returning and trying the Nutella bread pudding.

The menu is okay. The wine by the glass list would benefit from a few European choices. The ambiance is good but not sure about the music. The wait staff is young. Additional training & experience should resolve flow, confidence & timing issues.
