A word from Mistral - Boston
The design of Mistral is both elegant and casual, resonating with the ambiance of Provence as arched floor to ceiling windows drench the room with light.
Mistral’s dramatic dining room serves dinner nightly and Sunday Brunch. In our bar and comfortable lounge area we also offer craft cocktails and fine wines to compliment Chef Mammano’s menu.
Mistral’s private dining room, Le Salon du Mistral, accommodates 60 seated and up to 80 guests for a reception.

Not a bad meal at all but not quite sure what all the fuss is about. While the tuna tartare was the best I have ever had, the other dishes (beef tenderloin and striped bass) were very good but not so far above anything I have ever had as to make Mistral worthy of its reputation as one of the very best restaurants in Boston or even New England. Still, a very nice experience.

Upon arriving at 5pm [reservation was for 5:30pm]I asked them for $2 in quarters and was told that the staff was in a meeting. The hostess who I had asked was reluctant to disturb them. Upon insisting that the meter maids were out and active, the female bar tender came up to the end of the bar and said to me, "You know, patience is a virtue" and my response was "Good Customer Service is truly hard to find." I said I was goint to fill the parking meter, but would be back to talk to a manager. She said "Oh, you're dinning here?" I was disturbed that a quality restaurant[who I have always rated highly for service] was now employing staff with bad attitude and a laissez faire approach to customers. This will be my last time at Mistral's!

Quality of the meal was excellent. The decor was ok for the type of ranking this restaurant receives. The hostess was very accommodating especially since I arrived 20 min after my reservation time. Overall I will definitely return to Mistral.

I love the restaurant but I think the hostess should wear approperate clothing. I think that wearing a thin spaghetti strap tank top for work to an upscale restaurant is not approperate.

Can't go wrong here....in Mistral's defense....I had filled up earlier in the day so I saved my energy for the main courses....the first course, a chilled corn soup with crab, was notable for the crab...the main course, hanger steak, was solid but not really spectacular....the dessert course, a chocolate mousse, was more of the same....the wine list, however, was quite impressive....there are some wines on it that you won't see in most places around, so I'd definitely come here for drinks

I think under different circumstances this restaurant would have been very nice, however, my experience was quite lackluster. The maitre'd was very short and inattentive, the food was ill-paired (salmon with green beans... what?), and the sound level was near a dull roar. I did enjoy the decor, but other than that, my opinion of the restaurant is subpar until the next visit.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 8/14/2008
I went for the Boston Restaurant Week with the fixed price menu. The hangar steak was very tough and grissly. The waiter very kindly offered to get me another. The manager then said that all of them would be the same, as this is typical for this cut of meat (?). They then offered me one of the other Restaurant Week offerings and were very nice about it, bending over backwards to make sure I was happy. I'm not sure I buy the story about the steak. If it is always that bad, I'm not sure they should serve it. But in the end the customer service was very good. The mushroom risotto was very good. The dark chocolate mousse was perhaps the best chocolate mousse I have ever tasted.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Mistral. It was our first time dining at Mistral and the food and service were exceptional. Our hostess asked if we wanted to have a drink at the bar, which was a very kind gesture that made us feel welcomed and unhurried. The service was both personal and professional. Our waiter was very helpful recommending dishes and a good wine. I was also impressed that everyone that stopped by our table, from the manager to the food servers, were engaging and sincere. A waitress who didn't even have our table stopped by to refill my water glass. Where else would a waitress fill your water glass, let alone one who didn't even have your table? These details matter and they didn't go unnoticed. Many thanks.

We had a reservation at 6pm, one of the first diners of the evening. Bar was quiet and had a nice chat with the bartender. Mistral was superb. The waiter was outstanding. He was attentive, didn't rush us, and also pointed out the vegetarian options on the menu for my vegetarian friend (as well as telling her that they could make a veggie platter that wasn't on the menu! this is what I had, and it was great!). My parents came as well, and they loved it. We'd all definitely go back. The atmosphere is quiet and elegant.
