I had made reservations for Valentine's Day for my husband and I. We have eaten here many times before. I love the cedar plank salmon and get it every time we come here. This time it was too salty. The asparagus was great, the wine was great and the husband's steak and shrimp was wonderful. All in all we enjoyed it. Just the salmon was a little too salty. We will be back for our anniversary or our other choice is a little place in Edmonds.

I had high hopes for a romantic Valentines dinner. We made Valentines reservations that worked out well, until the food came. My girlfriends meal was all bad. Her prime rib and salmon was not right. The piece of salmon was the size of a chicken strip and came with no lemon or anything and was dry. The prime rib was ordered medium but came out well and dry. We sent it back, and waited for 20 more minutes for the manager to come back and say they were out of prime rib. They offered something else, however I was done eating. At that point the server who did a good job never again made eye contact and seemingly avoided us. Sadly disappointed because I was interested in going there more frequently, however my girlfriend will not go back.

This was for Valentine's Day, so we opted for the steak and lobster. The lobster was cut in half lengthwise. It didn't have much flavor, and was pretty small. The steak was in slices like London Broil, but pretty good. The meal came with green beans and mashed potatoes. I think they were supposed to be garlic mashed potatoes, but if so, they didn't have much garlic. Salad is not included. The only option is to order a salad entrée and split it. The salad was okay, but it wasn't as tasty as it appeared. Service in general was pretty good, but when my husband asked for more coffee, the server took his cup away and brought him back a new cup of coffee without asking me if I would like more coffee, too. Don't know if we will visit again.

Not a place that I'd recommend. For starters, the ambiance is lacking. The booths made me feel like I was in a cattle pen and just didn't offer an appealing dining environment. Food was mediocre...Overcooked and just didn't cut it in terms of quality that I was expecting. Also, the waitress we had was not very pleasant and acted a bit grumpy. I give a pass to most on this front as anyone can have a bad day. But, when coupled with the atmosphere and food, the place didn't stack up as desired.

  • Grilled isn't really 'grilled'
    OpenTable Diner Since 2013
    Dined on 12/23/2013
The service on this day was particularly slow even though there weren't many people in our section. It took almost an hour to get our food. But, my biggest complaint is that the 'grilled chicken sandwich' should not be called 'grilled' when it clearly isn't. Maybe you should be more accurate and call it either micro-waved (I sincerely hope not) or flash steamed (still NOT grilled!) I mean seriously, how long does it really take to actually grill a chicken breast? Restaurants have gotten lazy and are obviously not preparing things according to the menu. I should stick with the French dip!

When we arrived they didnt even ask if we had a reservation (which had some additional instructions) We were seated and then at least 15 minutes went by until someone came to our table. We ordered water and a bottle of sparkling wine it took ankther 15-20 to bring us that. Perhaps they needed to chill the wine... ok. But how about some cold water in a glass???? Then both the water and the wine was brought out the same time, lame and uncaring. Ribeye steak was very fatty clumps of fat Overall lame service, poor food and just sad how horrible this place has become. I remember stanfords 7-10 years ago was the place to go for the special occasion or just a fine dining experience our experience was a far cry from that and was anything but fine.

We enjoyed a great dinner for our 42nd anniversary, as we do every year. We had a great spot, just for us. Our server was there when we needed, and served a greasy meal, Great Alaskan salmon with favorite asparagus, salad was a little limp, too much dressing. And we were surprised with Pumpkin Cheesecake - nice finish! We'll be back again!

There was a good variety on the menu with the addition of the Turkey dinner. All the meals were tasteful but the plates with mashed potatoes had been left under the heat lamps too long. There was a noticeable skin on the potatoes when the plates were served to the table. Between the six of us there were five different menu items ordered. Everyone was satisfied with their meal and was happy with the outcome of the dinner. At dinners end, they were out of two of the five desserts offered.

My husband, myself, my best friend of 34 years and her adult daughter decided to go to Stanford's for Thanksgiving dinner. My best friend & I decided the years of us cooking for the family was wonderful, but this year we wanted "someone else to cook". When I searched online to find a restaurant that was open on Thanksgiving, I was thrilled to see that Stanford's was one of the them. My husband and I have been eating at Stanford's for years. We love this restaurant! My husband told me it reminds him of a restaurant in Boston, where he is from. The dark wood, old world feel and warm feeling you get when you walk in. It's like walking into "Cheers, where everybody knows your name". We had a great time and no dishes to do! Thanks!

If anyone thinks that excellent dining ends south of Yesler, they need to try some of the fantastic South King County restaurants like Stanford's. Since it was just my son home from college and I, and I saw the OpenTable suggestions, I thought, why not just try out a Thanksgiving dinner out. Great choice! I started with the squash soup, which, really, knocked me out the taste was so fantastic. Then on to the dinner, piled high with at least 3 generous servings. Hearty mashed potatoes and stuffing. The wine list is short and my selection of King's Pinot Gris matched turkey just fine. We topped it off with pumpkin cheesecake. The name alone should make your mouth water!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2013

We had a good attentive server. The food was mediocre. The turkey didn't really have much at all in the way of flavor - didn't taste like having "mom's turkey at home". They only drizzled a tiny bit of gravy over the turkey - there was non on the potatoes or stuffing (they both needed it, as they were boring without. The veggies were very uninspired too. Sliced zucchini and summer squash with some microscopic pieces of what I believe was sweet potatoes and peppers sprinkled in. Some asparagus, flavorful green beans, or even candied yams like a traditional Thanksgiving dinner would have been better. We probably wouldn't return to Stanford's for turkey dinner again. Have always enjoyed our other meals there, but this was uninspired.

My first impression was very good; we were warmly greeted and seated straight away, at first I kind of missed the little extras like the bread and soup/salad starters. There were four in my group including my fourteen year old daughter, what was ordered? My wife had smoked chicken linguine, my daughter had crab and shrimp crusted halibut my guest had the sirloin tips and I had the grilled rib eye that had been marinated in pineapple and soy for 48 hours. The flavors of these dishes were overwhelmingly delightful and completely made up for missing the starters. We all were completely satisfied and will and have recommend Stanford’s to all I know that are looking for that one great place to eat.

We came early- on a Saturday for a birthday celebration--a group of 9 women at 5:15. Our waiter was really so-so. We had to ask 3 times for water. I asked if we could have it for everyone., and he brought a glass to my sister seated next to me. She gave it to me, and then about 10 minutes later asked him for water. His reply?: "Didn't I already bring you one?" Long story short, everything took much longer than it should have. 15 minutes to order drinks, another 15 to order food, never did get refills on the water we did get. It's a good thing the food was all good.

My family and I went to this restaurant before some headed to the Airport. We were seated in an out of the way and the service was great to start. The sever offered to bring my little ones a snack while they were waiting on their dinners and our orders were taken quickly. The server however was a bit overly chatty with other tables and ignored a couple of time our need for refills during our appetizers. I even asked the bus-person to advise her were in need and she did not respond until he told her a second time.

We would not have found this restaurant w/o Open Table. We needed a restaurant close to SEATAC Airport for supper before a late night departure. Stanford's popped up on Open Table and we gave it a shot. We were seated quickly in a quiet part of the restaurant which was perfect for 5 people who wanted to catch up on each other's summer activities. Carrie provided excellent service and told us about the $19.99 special of steak, lobster, shrimp, vegetables and potatoes. Four of us chose the special while the fifth order the Mac and cheese with bacon. We all wanted a taste of the Mac & Cheese w/ bacon so we ordered a side bowl of it. The steaks & shrimp were cooked perfectly, the 3-4 oz of lobster was delicious. We will be back!

I went on the advice of a friend, who said the restaurant would be showing the game, which was indeed the case (although there was no volume). Trying to make the best of it, I asked to sit in the bar, and after taking a table, was greeted by my server. We asked for water, and once it was served, we weren't contacted again, even though the bar wasn't busy. After waiting 10 - 15 minutes, we left and went elsewhere.
