I was familiar with the restaurant but none of my friends were. They were sooooo impressed with the service and the food. We were a group of 4 and we received awesome attention from our server Johnny and the restaurant manager Manu. My friends could not understand why the restaurant wasnt more packed. One of my friends was visiting from Atlanta and could not get over how hospitable everyone was. My other two friends work on Wall Street and planned to bring clients there to dine. The food was amazing and our server made some really great recommendations based on all of our preferences. With the recommendations and the family style of dining we all had an ecclectic and complimentary meal. The sommelier also made a great wine pairing rec.

I have had the pleasure of dining at Hakkasan two times - once for a birthday dinner, and another for brunch. Both dining experiences were exemplary. The decor of the place is a great combination of East meets West. I love the luxurious touches such as the fresh orchids, laser cut marble inlaid in dark Chinese-style wood panels that create privacy, and the gorgeous embroidered banquettes. The bar area has a watery, pulsing energy. Dinner: The Scallops and chives dish was a standout, as well as the Roasted silver cod with Champagne and honey. We shared the crispy Duck salad, a perfect meld of sweet and salty flavors. The cocktails were delicious. Brunch: Dim Sum that can't be missed - and I'm from Hong Kong. Run don't walk!

We had sampled the dimsum on a recent evening outing and thought we had to. Once back for dimsum lunch! So glad we did, their chefs are the real McCoy: each dish we had were like I was back in Hong Kong. Top notch,a nd worth the money, as it is cheaper than a flight to HK to eat this great food. Americans are too used to the cheap stuff and dont realize that Hakkassan is offering the real deal, so fr those who are finding excuses and complaining, this is exceptionally great food! We'll be back even though we live in the UES.

I was first introduced to Hakkasan in South Beach, Miami where my friends and I returned twice during our 7 day trip for the amazing food. When I found that there was one in NYC, I was ecstatic... until I experienced the difference. First of all, I may have wrongly assummed that as it is a chain, they would have the same dishes I fell in love with in South Beach. To my dismay, they had none. When I asked the waiter about the difference, he gave me a diatribe about how the same menu can't possibly be served in Dubai and NYC and do as well. I reminded him I was comparing it to South Beach. No adjustments to ingredients would be tolerated and the waiter was less than pleasant. I'm going back to South Beach where they even shared a recipe

Puh-lease - how this restaurant can be characterized as upscale Chinese - in anything but the prices - is beyond me. The food was no better - and in many cases worse - that the cheap joints in Chinatown. And the service leaves much to be desired - it was hard to get our waiter's attention, and when we asked for his advice, the only thing he told us was to order too much (bad) food. We will never, ever return.

First visit, had steamed dim sum platter: hong kong standard, but best we have had in the city. Dinner we had fried lobster with XO sauce (simply delicious and sooo fresh) and lovely collection of fresh mushrooms, of sorts that we have not seen; fried shrimp in chilli sauce- simply to die for, and sweet and sour pork tenderloin.oooh. For two people and lite eaters, despite the smaller portions, we had a ate home bag for the pork! All delicious, high end for the city, but you can expect this standard in Hong Kong ( for a lot less). But hey, if I can get a little bit of heaven on this side of earth, worth paying for. We will be back. Menu is not the same as London, but expect the same standard. Service was wonderful.

I had such high hopes for this UK gem coming to NY but it is really not a whole lot more than a pricy Chinese restaurant. The space is beautifully done! Going there on a Friday in May I expected it to be busy and have a lively crowd, but the restaurant was almost empty which was surprising given how close it is to the hustle/bustle of Times Square. Even the bar after theater was empty. The cocktail list is quite fun!!

We greatly anticipated our first visit to Hakkasan, but sadly were somewhat disappointed. First, I made the reservation on OT over about one week ahead and was limited to a 6 pm reservation. When I called the restaurant, there was no problem getting a later time. We entered through the serene passagway into ear-splitting music at the bar. My aperitif was 1 finger of Lillet and 9 ice cubes. They tried to seat us adjacent to the bar, and reluctantly moved us (or we would have left). Had a hard time getting the prix fix menu. Service not at all great. Food fine, but certainly not exceptional(except dessert). Really pricey. Hoping Hakkasan gets better with time.

A real find in the theater district. Great ambience that first hits you when you open the doors. I was however taken back by the odor of insence which I hoped wouldn't influence the aroma of the food. It didn't. While pricey the food was creative and flavorful. Tasting menus were available but not mentioned. Great wine list. It is best to go with a crowd so you can taste the many wonderful dishes of chef Boon.

Yes, it's expensive; and yes, it's a little bit corporate; and yes, it's noisy, indeed extremely noisy, though compared to the London Hakkasan it's a virtual mausoleum of quiet. All that being true, the food is memorable and worth it. And given the fact that New York is, shockingly, a desert when it comes to high-end Chinese cuisine (Shun Lee: don't get me started), then Hakkasan deserves one's attention. The Dim Sum items were very good; what followed--not just the toasted silver cod and the pipa duck, but even the vegetables and (can you believe it?) the rice--was stupendous. Our budget won't allow it as a steady diet, but we'll be back, for sure.

This is the second time at the NYC location and my third time, overall, visiting the Hakkasan properties. I had an 8:30pm reservation for 2. We arrived EXTREMELY early at 7:30ish and were sat at the bar. It was a bit concerning that, at 8:50pm, I had to get up and ask the host/hostess if we were going to be sat anytime soon??? We expected to not be given a table immediately, but waiting over an hour and almost 20 minutes past your original rez time is a bit much. Food was pretty good, but the fried dumplings were not very memorable. Overall, I will probably return. First time here was very good, but this resembled my lackluster experience in Miami. The decor is pretty amazing. I do think it's a nice addition to the wasteland of midtow
