A word from Moerlein Lager House
The heritage of Cincinnati's storied brewing history comes alive along
the banks of the Ohio River at this world-class restaurant and brewery.

Prominently situated in the dynamic Smale Riverfront Park, the Moerlein Lager House offers a guest experience unlike any other—a working microbrewery producing a full line of Moerlein craft brews, and delectable fare featuring grain spent breads, hand-carved sandwiches, and smoked rotisserie meats… foods reminiscent of those served in the city’s celebrated 19th century beer gardens.

Way too noisy due to acoustics and crowd. Had to yell through dinner. They added music to make it even louder. Could hear bass but that was it. On the upside, no one could hear your conversation. Service was a little slow. Nice place and food was good.

Loved the View, Food great, Beer outstanding, Waitress very nice but her support staff....sloppy and non professional! We got seated quickly and the Waitress who it seemed to be the only "Wait Staff" working on the 2nd floor outside, looked overwhelmed but she stopped by our table and asked if we wanted a drink to start with. She left to order and what seemed like 10 minutes later, we see a support staff person carrying two beers like the ones we ordered looking around like he was lost. I finally waved my hand and told him I think those are our beers. Waitress came back, again very nice polite and helpful and we gave her our order. Salads came in a timely fashion but before we had even taken two bites, our entrees came. Sad indeed!!!

We've dined at the lager house many times. Never have had great service. Have had our meal comped more than once, without asking, which means the service is recognized to be bad. This time it was the birthday of a good friend who recently passed so a group went. One person ordered a filet, it came burnt and she asked to have it remade. It never came back out. The other 8 people had finished their meals when finally someone out with a to go container and said they would take care of it. What I am not sure since she really never received her food. What was in the container wasn't even what she had ordered. She was irate. I am sure that couple will never return, and the handling of the situation didn't sit well with anyone. It is too bad.

This is about the 3rd time we have been to this restaurant and it was very good. The only disappointment was that there was no chef special this time. Even without that the food was Fantastic for 3 out of 4 of us. I had the meatloaf and it was really good, not the best I have had but very very good. My son had the Porkbelly dinner and that was excellent. My wife had the Fish and Chips and that was excellent and then my Daughter had the Salmon and that was the only item that was not so good. It was dry and next to no flavor. It was still a very good time since we had drinks and the 3 meat and cheese tray along with an order of the pretzels. 2 hours of good food and company.

If you just want a little something to accompany their microbrew beer, be sure to order the beer cheese, warm and creamy and served with warm soft pretzel bread. We also ordered dinner. The short ribs were incredible as was the flatbread and I highly recommend them both. The server was very friendly and attentive. There was an open airy feel to the dining room with a great view of the Ohio River. When making reservations, ask to be seated by a window. It was conveniently located 5 to 10 minutes from both the All American Ball Park and our hotel across the Ohio River. The only drawback was the noise level, but it is to be expected in a brew pub/restaurant near the Red's ball park after a game.

The fish tacos were very "fishy" and condiments did not complement well. Also shells were soggy and not a good flavor. The grilled cheese with ribs was a roast beef with cheese-not ribs. The Mac and cheese was served cold/part lukewarm on a plate and was not as tasty as last time. I asked for another m & c and it was hot the second time in a cup. The meatloaf was a big slab of ground meat with little flavor. We requested 2nd floor for a better view. Was told that 1st floor had better view so we had a window table by wall for 2 of us - not much view of river and shore line on KY SIDE was nonexistent. We had guests from out of town with us and it was disappointing. Also disappointing was the fact that no points were given for open table!

Moerlein Lager House is a great brewpub. The location, food, beer, and ambience are all fantastic. They have done a tremendous job putting this project together. If you like brewpubs or are looking for a restaurant by the ball park, this is the place to go. The only disappointment with this visit was the table location. It was right on a busy aisle by the kitchen and the noise level was very high. Next time I will try to request a different table.

We usually take friends visiting Cincinnati for the first time to this restaurant. The food and beer selection are good, the atmosphere is lively and the location offers great views. This time, however, we didn't have a great experience; really, not even satisfactory. We brought friends and although we had a reservation, we waited a half hour for our table. Then, it took OVER 20 minutes to get our first round of drinks after we ordered them. Our food took forever and two dishes were brought out incorrectly (in fact, they weren't ordered at all). Three of the beers we tried to order were out. The food still tasted pretty good but it just didn't flow well. Our server was nice - but clearly either spread too thin or too new.

I have had many great dining experiences at this restaurant so before the Reds game Saturday, I brought my boyfriends family there for their first time. Our food was excellent. The only complaint was that our server disappeared for 20 minutes and when we did find her and ask for refills and another beer, it took another 15 minutes to get refills and the beer never came. My boyfriend even got up to see if he could find her around the dining area and she was no where to be found. I understand if you are busy but this was a moderate crowd compared to other times I've visited. And it didn't appear she was just busy with other tables because she wasn't out helping anyone else.

I made reservations ahead of time. I dropped off my party at the front door and went to park the car in the garage. When I got back our reservation was given to another group. Our reservation was for 8 pm. We arrived at 7:45. Not sure what happened? They said that someone else with my name said they had a reservation at the same time. The chances of that happening are very slim.

Everything they have to eat here is great. We always get a meat/cheese board appetizer, they are so tasty. You cant make a bad decision when it comes to the menu. I would recommend getting a reservation if you are going before a game, it is always packed prior to Reds games. The beer selection is pretty awesome if you are into Old School Cincinnati Craft Beer. Normally it is very busy but the service is always acceptable even when they are packed. The only bad thing is that if you are going to "walk in" before a Reds game good luck getting a table.

I made reservations for a Friday and requested a scenic view for a table of two. I was seated on the second floor outside the kitchen doors. One chair could hardly move back from the table; a wall was in the way of any movement. My waitress was nice. The meat and cheese tray was super. The beer was great and my date enjoyed her martinis. The prime rib sandwich was very soggy and the onion rings were not completely cooked. I do not recommend either of them. This is the first time I have had food at the MLH that was not very appetizing.

Promptly seated upon arrival with a great view, right in the middle of the upper level. Service was excellent (allowed us to enjoy each course without rush). Food was better than detailed on the menu (very complex flavors and large portions). As expected for Friday night, was packed and a noise level sometimes made it hard to hear the conversations. Took a new recruit out for dinner with delightful results!
