The food was excellent. The whole experience was diminished somewhat by two things: the noise level (we seemed to be right under the music speakers) and the fact that the servers (not the waiters) did not speak good English -- so when one of our party switched seats and tried to explain to the servers that the food was being placed in front of the wrong people, the servers had no clue what she was saying. We would definitely return, though -- and ask again for a quiet table.

Used open table to make a lunch reservation. The only available time was 2:30pm. I accepted that, but when I arrived at the restaurant, I was told they stop serving lunch at 2:30. They did grudgingly accept the reservation but made it very clear we were putting them out. The food was lovely, service, less so. Very disappointed in the desserts. There was nothing new or interesting to try. The Kit Kat dessert was fair tasting, but the presentation was uninspired at best.

Food is wonderful and reasonably priced for the quality. All of us enjoyed our meal and the service. I have one major complaint: their weekend hours. Central needs to be open for lunch on Saturday and brunch/lunch on Sunday. They should take their cue from Brassarie Beck, which is now open for brunch on Sunday. As someone who lives in Upper Northwest DC, but does not work downtown, it is such a shame that restuarants of this quality are closed on weekends during the day. This fact is often lamented by many of my friends and neighbors.

In one word: overrated. I keep giving this place a try because most everyone I know raves about it. Everytime I've gone (which is five now), I leave thinking, "I can't believe I just paid $$$ for that." I'm just unimpressed for all the hype it's received. Lobster burger has been dry; crab cake swimming in some saucy salad; overdressed salads; oily soup and lackluster service. Not inclined to return.

The food here is excellent and the environment casual. The staff is amazingly helpful and friendly. If the food and drinks weren't enough of a reason to return, the staff would be more than enough of a reason to come back. The bar area always seems to be full of people, typically young professionals, but can be peppered with some of Washington DC's power players. The drinks are also amazing and original -- classics enjoying some small changes to add extra playfulness. The location fills up fast, so recommendations would be highly recommended. The hamburger and lobster burger are amazing dishes. Each course is quite plentiful, and I often feel stuffed after just an appetizer and main. It's best to share an appetizer and dessert with others.

Food was great - it was a delight to have both rabbit and fried chicken in the same meal. Originally had a table for 6 but they managed to find room for one more. We were there for awhile and never felt rushed and we were even seated before everyone had arrived at the restaurant which is rare in DC these days (and this allowed us to finish a bottle of wine before the rest of the party showed up - good business).

All in all, a very good visit. I was sat in a location that had the sun shining right in my face the whole time, which distracted from enjoying my company. Also, another party came near the end of our dinner, kids and attitude in tow - while they were annoying (and had the gall to demand quick service for their need to leave in 45 minutes), but the servers recognized this and apologized to us. Will definitely return!

Given the chef's reputation and having read multiple reviews of the restaurant, I expected an outstanding meal for our party of 4. While two of the four dishes were very good, two, inlcuding the evening's special, were just ok. Two of the 4 appetizers, likewise, were just in the good range. Even though we were tucked away in a cozy corner in the back of the restaurant, the noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation. Had we been seated elsewhere, it would have been even worse. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable - the highlight of the experience. For the money, I can do better at other area restaurants.

Their mussel chowder, lobster burger, and banana split (just to name a few) are sumptuous! The short ribs and onion soup were good, but if I go back, I will definitely choose something else. The fish and chips were classically prepared, but not exciting. The lamb shank, however, was savory and effortless - the meat fell right off the bone. It definitely quenched my umami craving. And no one prepares Mac'n'Cheese like Michel. In fact, his polenta & mashed potatoes were a big hit. Michel's take on American food is fun and flavorful. There's something there for everyone. You can't go wrong. The dining area is a little tight and very open. It can get boisterous if you sit near the kitchen. But I enjoyed watching the chef's at work.
