  • Disappointing second visit

First visit to Agrodolce was extremely satisfying. Second time was trendy medieval peasant food . Particularly repellent were pickled green strawberries like pickled buttons-- hard and vinegary-- in burata hors d,oeuvre. All four of us were disappointed, although some extremely pricey polenta fries consoled us. They were delicious.

Went here for Father's Day and it was fabulous. The service was inviting, professional and unhurried. The menu was delightful. Excellent food; new combinations of known favorites, perfectly sized portions. Great attention to detail (down to the great coffee). A really wonderful experience. I highly recommend Agrodolce for dining at its best.

Dissapointed, since this restaurant has appeared on so many "best" lists. The food was fine but our server seemed inexperienced and inattentive. I have had many excellent meals at Tilth. This was certainly not up to that standard. Nothing was bad, but nothing was excellent. Would not go back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. From the wonderful atmosphere to the fabulous food. The aroncini with the basil marinara was the best sauce I have tasted. I also highly recommend the broccoli with anchovy vinnegraite. Our waiter was wonderful with excellent recommendations and very attentive. It was our 25th wedding anniversary - we brought a very special bottle of wine and then comped us the corking fee. All around exceptional evening. Highly recommend this restaurant.

  • Lunch not so good
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 6/5/2014
Well, after writing a rave review for our dinner experience about a week ago, lunch was a disappointment. In a nearly empty restaurant, we couldn't have a nice window table because it was for 4, while we were only 2. (No one sat at it the entire time of our 1.5 hour lunch.) The cauliflower soup was quite sour and peculiarly "off" tasting, like maybe some of the cauliflower had gone bad. The arugula salad also was very sour. No bread to accompany these items, which might have absorbed some of the sourness. The only salvation was the lemon sorbetto (yay, not sour but spritely zingy), which was accompanied by some very fresh and tasty hazelnuts.

When you have family members from San Francisco who consider themselves real "foodies", it's an intimidating prospect to choose a restaurant. Agrodolce is a terrific selection for those discerning guests. We had a lovely dinner with selections ranging from homemade pasta to duck. Each meal was delicious and the chicken was especially good (a deboned half a chicken). Wine selection was solid and although we passed on dessert, it looked delicious. I've been to Agrodolce at least 5x and it never disappoints.

Not under the literal bar, but underwhelmed for one of the Hines' restaurants and previous trips to Agrodolce, though on other trips we've had slow-to-come entrees. But the entrees weren't that good, especially for the price. Barley spaghetti dish was not half as interesting as it sounded and the cauliflower soup was anemic. Had a fabulous asparagus dish, and of course, great cocktails with a nice local liquor selection. We love these restaurants, but this outing was a shade disappointing.

The food was amazing! We ordered the antipasto, cauliflower soup, lamb burger, rabbit ravioli, clams and the carrot gelato. All were delicious. The only negative thing was the service. The waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there. She never smiled, and she had a snotty look on her face the entire time. I will be back for sure since the food was amazing but I'm going to cross my fingers for a different waiter/waitress.

We waited an hour to get food i could have easily gotten at home. The waiters were friendly and approachable and deserving of a solid tip, but the food was unacceptable for the price, wait and taste. Overall, a nice place to chat and sit as the ambience is amazing and you have an hour plus wait time on very little food.

i had high expectations for agrodolce, especially being a maria hines restaurant. the service was great, no complaints there. drinks were really good - they make an excellent martini! but the food was just so-so. my fish was dry and overcooked, the pasta dish was lacking flavor. can't really see any reason to return.

Was excited to have scheduled brunch at Agrodolce. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. My friend and I arrived for brunch when they opened at 10. It was probably 4-5 minutes before we were greeted and brought to our table. This was even with a reservation. Food was okay, but not memorable. Host took our order and brought it out, but a waitress (who said that she just arrived) asked us about our food and brought us our bread that was supposed to come out with our food. Near the end of our meal, that table next to us asked if they could order and they had arrived shortly after us.

Made reservations and got stuck in the corner of the restaurant where it was darker and were bothered by the curtain. The party in front of us did not have reservations and was seated in a brighter and more desirable area of the restaurant. Once the waiter took our order and the food came, not once did we get checked up on. In fact, we wanted to order another dish and get a refill on the bottomless mimosa, we had to flag a server down for the mimosa and the menu. We decided on a dish but a server never came back. We decided enough was enough. The food was very good, but for the mere lack of service, I will very likely never go back.

My friend and I there for Restaurant Week and had a wonderful meal. Everything was so fresh and delicious and the portions were just the right size. We did think the wine by the glass was overpriced however. $14 seemed a bit much. The space is small and open so when a party of four came in and sat next to us, our evening was over for all intents and purposes. We had not seen each other in a while and had been having a quiet catch-up conversation and enjoying our meal. The party next to us were talking in what I call Seahawks-are-winning stadium voices. My friend and I could not hear each other from that point forward and asked for our check. Still, I would recommend this restaurant for the quality of the food and the service.

I just tried Agrodolce for the first time and really loved it. A lot of Italian food is too heavy for me, especially since I eat mostly vegetarian and usually want something with a lot of vegetables (and not a starchy pasta with thick sauce). Everything at Agrodolce was fresh, and my homemade pasta dish was brimming with amazing, tasty veggies in a light sauce that relied on fresh herbs for flavor, not oil or cream. It was fantastic. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful and really made the evening a delight. Also they had quite an interesting and creative house cocktail menu. We will be back-- Agrodolce became an instant favorite for us.

I had an amazing dinner for my birthday last year at Tilth. I had expected the same qualfity and amazing time at Agrodolce, but was disappointed. It was very loud and it was hard to hear the servers and each other. Some of the food was fantastic like the sunchoke ravioli and the Theo's chocolate cake, but the rest was unremarkable. None of us cared for our main courses, they lacked flavor. For what our bill came to it was sad that the food and the service wasn't better.

Four of us dined here on a Saturday night, and I will never eat here again, nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. The servers pool their tips, so be prepared for really bad service. While the food was decent, the prices are way too high for the amount of food, and be prepared to wait a long time for everything. I worked in the service industry for ten years, so it's not like I don't sympathize with the line of work they're in. We sat with dirty dishes all over our table for 15 minutes, and when I politely asked the bus person to remove them, she said someone will come by to get them (even though her hands were empty and she could have easily picked them up) Bad service can completely ruin a restaurant that does serve good food.

We went out for a celebration dinner on a Monday night. The room was silent and cold, especially against the windows, so everyone kept their coats on. We waited more than a half-hour for our food (a long wait, since we didn't order drinks). The waiter told us the broccoli side was "the best thing on the menu." He was right. Everything else was not nice. A steak ordered medium came purple rare and stone cold, as was the plate; we had to wait another 20 minutes for them to fix it. Lamb burgers were bland with puffy buns; rabbit pasta had maybe 1 tablespoon of rabbit. One of the coffees was lukewarm, triggering another long wait. The chocolate cake was tiny and dense like a candy bar and panna cotta was bland, with bitter grapefruit topping.
