The Tuesday might $12 hibachi special was a great way to bring the whole family together for a special night out without breaking the bank. It was a little difficult to hear the server and we were not provided with very specific information about what the special included (even though we told the waitress we had never been there for the hibachi experience before). Overall, the service was very good. The server and manager both stopped by several times throughout the meal to ensure we were having a good experience. The hibachi chef was also a lot of fun and really added to the night overall.

I did not like the plates which had the 'cup' for the soy sauce incorporated into the plate. I prefer to have a separate piece for the soy sauce. Sushi was flavorful but not the freshest quality I've had before. I guess it's decent enough for the burbs but I'll stick to my faves in Chicago for sushi. The mixed drinks were awesome and the bar scene was cool.

We had a huge group, there were 11 of us that sat around a grill. We all had a really great time, because we had a great group that night. However, I was completely dissatisfied with our waitress and the level of service that we received. Our waitress apologized to our table a numerous times for not being attentive. She said her other table was a large birthday party and they were a needy group. I am sorry, but when you are paying roughly $50 a person I expect more. If she knew she was not serving our group well she should have gotten some assistance, because the restaurant was not that crowded since we had an earlier reservation. The food was excellent and our chef was so much fun, but my first Shinto visit was not that great overall.

I have been here twice on the weekend. Love the live band and energetic music. The sushi is very creative, flavorful and beautifully presented. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had 4 people, 2 bottles of wine and I believe 10 specialty rolls and the bill with tax was $200. Pretty affordable for sushi! I will be back again!

We love this restaurant and now, the boys love this restaurant. The service was excellent, although the UPSALE could have been reeled in a bit...atmosphere was pretty and the food is always a treat. The prices are a bit higher than some other sushi restaurants, but having a "coupon" for $40.00 helped. Great restaurant all around.

Not my first time to Shinto, so it was an easy decision to make a reservation for our return. Great food, with deals in the afternoon and at happy hour. And if you're there for dinner you can meet the head sushi chef and speak to him about his special maki roll of the day. Always a treat!

Menu was diverse and had plenty of choices. The pricing was a bit high for the type of resturant. The bill was over $200 for four people not including alcohol. Which i thought was a bit on the high side. The food was good and the service was great no complaint there.

We usually don't venture out on Valentine's Day simply for the crowd reason...we we pleasantly surprised when we walked into a very happening Shinto, shared our name and reservation and moved ahead of 20 people waiting for a table!!! That was wonderful, but boy did we get the looks...Thanks, Open Table, for securing the table so we could spend more time enjoy each other, the food, the wine, the music, the adorable and romantic decorations, the complimentary chocolate fountain and the superb service!

Great spot for dinner with a show. The quality of food is high, especially the sea-food. Sushi is of great quality and creative new ideas. Will definetly be back for more hibachi and sushi. There was an error in my order of forgetting the chicken I had Ordered with my meal. The waiter was quick to correct, offering to have it cooked up, or comp a portion of the bill.

we chose shinto because my husband loves sushi and i wanted seafood. it was our first visit and we were absolutely delighted. from the minute we walked in we were treated like royalty. the service was beyond reproach. our chef - who in his own words does a pretty good job for a white guy - was very talented, entertaining, and funny. the food was exactly as i expected, and so much fun to watch being cooked. and i must mention, i had two of the best long island iced teas i have ever had - if they arent made correctly, they tast way too much like alcohol. these went down waaaay to easily!! :-) we will definitely be back to shinto!

Pleasantly suprised. Typical cook at your table place but cook, servers, and food were good. When busy they can pt up to 10 patrons at a table but that would have been way too crowded. We had seven at our table and thus plenty of room. I will go back.
