This is our second visit and overall it did not disappoint. We were early and seated straight away. The waiter came over and took our drink orders we were waiting for 2 more and said would be there shortly. He came back with our drinks asked did we know how long it still wasn't our reservation time. Realize he has to co-ordinate things with the chef. Another party of 2 joined our table. The waiter came over once again asked how long our party would be. I felt a little annoyed over this and felt he could have handled himself a little better. The rest of the dinner lived up to expectations the chef was excellent interacted with everyone without imposing himself. The food was prepared and cooked beautifully would definitely dine here again.

We did the Hibachi dinner, they also are known for their sushi. When I go to these places I usually come home hungry. The portions are small and sometimes not very flavorful. At Shinto you had more than enough, the menu has a lot of selections and prices are fare. I wish I knew the chefs name because he was wonderful, very personable and friendly. It proves how good a restaurant is when it is packed in the middle of the week. This is definitely a must try!

We were very surprised how much the prices went up since last time we were there. All wntrees went up, most significantly was the side of fried rice went up 25% and the up charge for filet was $12...too steep for us now. We used to eat here once a month but its too rich for our blood now. The waiter did a good job explaining to us the rationale behind the owners changes...he must here complaints alot. But all in all, decent food but not worth the $.

Brought my tween and teens there and had a great time at the hibachi table. Food is great, show is great. Cons are that it's a little loud in there and you want to try to sit with your back to the window. The sun hits it at dinner time and can be annoying.

Having had good experiences at Shinto 2-3 times prior, I brought three friends there this Saturday. At first our server was attentive, but as soon as our drinks were ordered and served, she was no where to be found. More disappointing was the main show - our cook! No train made out of onions, no fancy knife clanking, no egg tossed in the hat, not even so much as a SMILE! We chose hibachi so that we could have a fun dining experience and share in a few laughs, and we were certainly spared any help from the chef or the server. After our dinner was served, we finished, boxed our own food, and sucked all of our drinks bone dry before even seeing our server - and we had to call out to even get her attention - twice!

I didn't expect that from a strip mall! Not only were the portions huge, but they had really great flavors to all of the items. We had two hibachi meals, but made sure to order a few rolls on the side while we waited. We were pleasantly surprised with the taste and had no idea the place would be so hopping!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2013
    Dined on 7/1/2013
The food is great, the cooks are very personable and entertaining, but know that you won't be able to have a lot of conversation as there is a lot of noise when they're busy. We've only done the hibachi side because we love the fresh cooked food, but the tables are very long and it's difficult to hear the people at the other end of the table. Remember, the fried rice is extra though they don't tell you that when they ask if you want it with your hibachi meal.

Sushi was amazing as usual. This time I was especially impressed with the service because the waitress kindly allowed my mom to sit at the table before I arrived. I was an hour late due to Metra train delays and during that time the waitress ensured my mom was comfortable and enjoyed her martini to start. Once I finally arrived she served me immediately Thanks again!!

This was our third visit to Shinto's and we were extremely dissapointed this time. Although the food was as good as usual, and the cook did a great job, the waiter, and the manager who we complained to did nothing to make the night enjoyable. We had a group of 8 and no one came to our table for 15 minutes. It took another 15 for our drinks to come, a few at a time, and another 10 to place our order. The topper was that one diner ordered a spring roll and sushi, while the rest of us took the meal cooked at the table. His never arrived. After talking to the manager, he was informed the ticket must have been lost, and that they would make one up as takeout free, which they did. This will probably be our last trip here.

Shinto's did a great job of accomodating our group at the Hibachi table as well as a quiet table later in the evening for drinks. Food was tasty as always with most of us ordering the steak and shrimp and one member of our party ordering the scallops which were jumbo and succulent. Drinks are a bit pricey but service was spot on and friendly. Overall, it was a very good experience and we'd all go back.

We've been to Shinto's several times for Hibachi which is always fun because the pace of the meal keeps you eating constantly. This time, we sat on the other side which is the regular tables with servers and you can order sushi and Teriyaki off the menu. This experience was just as enjoyable and maybe a bit quieter especially when there's just the 2 of us. In any case, good food and great sushi choices made our experience enjoyable. The sushi rolls were coming out of the kitchen freshly made and full of flavor. On days when there's specials like 1/2 price appetizers the kitchen it rock'n and even though there may be a little wait - the chefs are in full swing and it's always fun to see just how much sushi other tables are consuming!
