  • Shinto, GREAT hibachi

The food here is delicious! I've been to a several hibachi places and this is definitely in my top 3. It's a bit pricey so it's a once in a while treat or for special occasions. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for great food and an awesome atmosphere. From the hostess, to the waiter, and the cook.... The service was great!! Until next time Shinto!

  • Great but usually a long wait
    Realist
    Dined on 4/15/2014
Not a long wait for the table, but the last maybe 4 times we've been here the wait for our food (after we have had soup and salad) has seemed like a long gap. I bet about 20-30 minutes after finishing my salad we finally had some veggies. Anyhow, not a big deal if you plan for it because the food is great and the chef's are really entertaining.

This was my fourth or fifth time coming here. I had done the hibachi before but we like coming here for sushi. My boyfriend is allergic to shellfish and I only like cooked sushi so were trying to talk with the waiter to see what our options were. He kept recommending things that wouldn't work which left us puzzled. He wasn't very good about checking on us either, leaving for long periods of time. He failed to mention/offer me items that came with my meal, but by the time we saw him again our entrees had been brought out and I thought it best just to forget it. While we enjoy the food enough to come back, I think service could be improved a bit.

The food was good....something I'd crave...the atmosphere is nice...waiter was nice and attentive, HOWEVER....I went on half off Tuesdays....he did not advise me that the combo meals were not half off.....I learned that when I got the bill. The manager offered me a friends and family discount ...although it did not amount to the half off price...I would revisit

  • Expensive, but Excellent!

My husband and I only go out to an expensive restaurant like this about once every six months. Was worth every penny. We started with two sushi rolls, both excellent. We ordered the steak hibachi, and salmon hibachi. So good! Only negative was there were three empty sugar packets, along with sugar on the floor. I saw them as I approached the table, and felt the crunchy sugar under my feet when I sat down. This did not impress me. I feel if my husband and I are going to spend more than a hundred dollars on dinner, I don't want to see and feel garbage on the floor as I eat. All in all though, we were definitely glad we went, and I can't stress enough how delicious the food is. If it wasn't so expensive, I would go there all the time!

Great restaurant, go for the Hibachi, unless you are a sushi nut, both will delight. The service is always friendly and he is there when you need it. I thought it was busy for a Tuesday evening. But rest assured most nights are this way. Had a drink at the bar while we were waiting for the party to arrive. The bartender was friendly and seemed please to serve you anything you like. At the table our server was prompt and courteous. He was there just the right amount. I started out with a sushi roll and and finished up with a filet, lobster and scallops, all perfectly cooked. We had an awesome time. I know we will go back again to enjoy great food and in the company of friends and family.

Really enjoy this restaurant. Went for the Naperville restaurant week menu because it was a great value and allowed us to try an appetizer and dessert (generally we will get an appetizer and stick with the same one or two items). Because it was a special menu it was printed on a separate sheet of paper and descriptions of items were not included leaving us to have to flip between that and the every day menu. Food was great but the timing could have been better as we got out sushi before finishing our appetizer. Overall we would return to the restaurant if we were in the area.

You can not go wrong here! Mondays 1/2 off all Speciaity Rolls! The Sushi is great! Remember to make a reservation as it tends to be crowded. They also have Habachi grills That are smokeless. Nice presentation and good Childern specials. The Sushi and bars part of The restaurant tend to be more for adults but they have done a nice job of deprecating the Habachi room which you Can still get sushi at and Habachi. You will not be disappointed!

The only complication I encountered I found it difficult to book a party os13 people, the on line booking kept telling me that I couldn't book this.I tried a slightly different number and later times but with little success I am assuming that your hitachi seats lesser amounts of people so we had to wait for two tables for that amount of people. The problem was I was not asked until much later in the questioning if I needed hibachi or sushi, and we actually wanted sushi

A bit of an off location being in a strip, but the ambience is good. More hip than I expected with a diverse dining crowd. Fire and Ice Roll was very good, as was the cucumber tini. The night club was non-existent - I heard rumors about a dance floor but it wasn't happening. Good place for a group dining wise though.

Took my girlfriend and two kids (6 & 9 yrs). The Hibachi chef was talented and very fun for adults and kids alike. The food was great! The server was personable but was different as he had this hipster/cool guy attitude and did not come around enough for drinks, but he did try to make you happy. There were only 2 problems in the night: One was that the restaurant is off the street a bit and in a dark stripmall so you have to be careful and have your head on a swivel to find it. Next, we had resos for 6 pm and arrived 5 minutes early. The hostess told us we would have a 10 minute wait to be seated. Not good when you have young kids!! Overall, great food, great interior, good crowd and a very good place for dates and families alike!

We've dined at Shinto many times, it's our favorite sushi restaurant in the area. The sushi is always excellent, as is the service. Dinner is a bit pricey, however the food is well worth it. This evening we started with the beef negamaki, then chose the Dragon, Little Delicious, and Kamakaze rolls. Service was quick and very friendly. They also have a promotion ongoing where they give you a $5 gift card for checking in on Facebook. Highly recommend Shinto if you enjoy sushi and a contemporary, vibrant ambiance.

Booked through Open Table the day before just because we had 7 people in our group, more than half of which were out of state and very hungry. One person in our party was lost and instead of offering us a table, drink, or appetizer told us to wait until the lost person got there.we thought that was somewhat rude considering such a big party was a big ticket for them and they couldn't be more hospitable. After 30 minutes of standing in a virtually empty restaurant at noon, our lost person showed up and we were seated. Chris our Hibachi chef was great, cooked well and had a great sense of humor. Ben, our waiter was attentive but distracted almost as if they were short staffed. The food was cooked well, the deep fried sushi was a special twist
