Chef Floyd Cardoz offers a tasty twist with his inventive menu - check out the "Egg Dishes" seciton of the menu. Beautiful decor and an amazing open kitchen. I didn't rate the ambiance outstanding due to the awkwardly high seats on the chairs that cause you to "sit tall" at the table. You won't want for better service as this restaurant is clearly overstaffed. Very nice wine list and an nteresting gourmet experience. A "must try" if you're in the neighborhood.

Fantastic food and service. The grilled clam pizza was amazing. The roast chicken was excellent. The wine list was eclectic. The 2009 Ant Hill Farm Pinot Noir was fantastic. The service was excellent. Overall, a great dining experience. My only regret is that I did not have any room for any of the fantastic single malt whiskey's that are behind the bar. Will go back again many times.

This is a new opening of about six weeks. We experienced some problems with a mixed drink order. Thanks to the help of the manager on duty it was fixed. Service was attentive and excellent. Food was very good in spots and only good in others. This is a place worth giving a try. We will be back

Fabulous service, very attentive. Food was excellent and the wine selection wonderful. We asked to see Chef Floyd Cardoz and he came to the table so we could thank him for the great recipe in the New York Times. What a treat! Loved the grilled calamari and the seared scallops. We got three desserts all good but the best was the roasted apple. tart.

Joining Shake Shack as foundations in what will be a Danny Meyer-plex in Battery Park City, at one month out North End successfully melds Meyer's exquisite service (at one point six runners headed for our table to clear our four-top until three peeled off) with Floyd Cardoz's genius with spices and the freshest seafood. Reminiscences of Tabla soon turned to celebrations of this new phase in his cooking, where none of his inventiveness is lost but rather deepens into a complexity that, for instance, the crab and pumpkin soup displays, but so do his perfectly cooked, spicy frites. The wine list is stunning and our would-be sommelier and splendid waitperson, Alexandra, *will be* before long given her knowledge of the list and terroirs.

If you were a Tabla fan you will know to expect that attention has been paid to every detail and the the details of the food at North End Grill are handled impeccably. Chef Cardoz has stepped off the spice trail and had moved seamlessly into a fresh American frontier. Worth a trip to PBC. Not to be missed!

Fantastic does not do justice to our evening at the North End. The staff was great from the moment we arrived when they directed us to a nearby parking garage with a coupon to seating our birthday party in a private seating area. The waitress and sommilier made all of the right recommendations and having the chef stop by to greet our party and sign a menu for his bithday girl admirer was a coup de grace. The food passed around the table so frequently it was hard for me to remember which dish I had ordered. They were all superb. The North End cound not be farther from my home and still be in Manhattan but I will surely make the trek often. The journey is worth it because the evening is so satisfying. .

North End Grill is lovely. Noise tamped down, service almost impeccable (the server forgot one dessert and had to be reminded) but, as expected in a Danny Meyer spot, staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Now the food: Seafood forward and VERY flavorful. When we arrived the aroma of spices coming off the adjacent table's spicy fries was so distractingly strong I almost asked to move. I ordered the sardines (fab) and the scallops w/ cauliflower - perfectly seared and caramelized but almost too spicy for me (an unfamiliar Mexican spice, said the server, among others). Maybe I'm a wimp. Or a food Philistine. I'll return but may stick to the raw fish/seafood and great sounding egg dishes. And dessert - pot de creme was dreamy!

This past Monday night at the North End Grill ranks as one of my top dining experiences in Manhattan. Both the menu and the wine list were innovative and varied enough to give us more than 1-2 choices in each category (appetizers, entrees, reds vs whites, etc.), and the food itself was all delicious. That being said, the best part of the experience was the service. Everyone on the staff, from the coat check guy to the wine steward to our waiter (James, BTW) was friendly and knowledgeable. Honestly, it was almost like dining at a friend's house (the only difference was the $200+ tab for 3 at the end, but it was such a pleasant evening that we didn't even mind that part). Highly recommend venturing to the North End Grill!

Cod cheeks were perfect in flavor, texture and tenderness. The roasted mushroom kale "risoato" was wonderful -- both vegetarians and carnivores will be sated by this dish. Service was superb but possibly overstaffed. Can the restaurant sustain so many staff people given the menu price points and this economy? I live in Midtown East and will definitely make the journey again!

Chef Floyd Cardoz's cooking tastes like no one else's, much the way Ravel's music sounds like the composer's alone. Cardoz's Indian-inspired food at Tabla was never widely popular, bur his similarly distinctive menu at North End Grill seems to be a hit, judging from the crowds and the difficulty of getting a reservation. This new success is deserved. The restaurant is nearly flawless without being the least bit stuffy or pretentiously formal. Highly recommended.

Love other Danny Meyer restaurants but found this to be lacking in elegance, style and quality of restaurants such as Gramercy Tavern. The food disappointing; Sardines were average and a small portion, brussell sprouts were very bitter, peppers and onions were a poor suggestion as a complement to a very boney Turbot. The NB mussels were excellent! The staff was attentive - especially the manager Kevin.

Delicious execution, unique food combinations with lots of vegetable sides. An egg course for dinner is brilliant. Perfect execution of meat and scallops, the wood-fired grill giving off a wonderful char on calamari and clam pizza. Waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable -- assured us we had ordered enough food and the waiter went out of way to recommend a wine of good value. The bar is a great place to be whether waiting for a table or just some great scotch(or wine).Open kitchen, nice. Dining room service at first was a bit spotty but then made up for in the end. The staff is very excited about their new place and the food was good, not perfect. They just need a bit more tweaking. The boss was in the house on this particular evening. North End Grill has a completely different feeling (ambience wise) than Tabla Floyd's old restaurant. There is an open kitchen and I loved watching the cooks prepare the meals!
