I usually stick to the same well known restaurants (my favorites) but since I'm up in Napa Valley almost every weekend I decided to try this new restaurant. My family and I were pleasantly surprised when every appetizer and main course exceeded our expectations, deserts were fabulous as well. Our server was always there when we needed him but very professional and we loved every minute of this undiscovered new gem.

My husband and I were there two years ago on our honeymoon and just returned for our anniversary trip. We arrived just after the remodel happened and were a little shocked by the change...it is a little more rustic and a little less romantic. The food was wonderful and wine list was good. we did still enjoy our time very much though! thanks!

I have been a customer of BRIX for many years; in the last few years I thought that the service remained strong, but the quality of the food had diminished. I am not sure if it's new ownership, a new chef, or just the new decor, but my dinner engagement this night was very enjoyable. Food from the new menu was well prepared and balanced. Highly recommend.

    Dined on 6/29/2008
The setting at Brix is great with a good view of the Napa hills and vineyards. The service was atentive without being smarmy. The big drawback was the food which was good but not particularly great especially condsidering the price. The one exception was the tuna salad nicoise. Although at $23 (the most expensive item on the brunch menu) it should be. Some specific items for improvement: More complete descriptions of menu items. For intance several entress said they were accompanied by "duckly" potatoes. What are ducky potatoes? We would like to have shared an appetizer but none of them were suitable for sharing.

Arrogant waiter. Didn't smile once. We felt more comfortable asking the wait staff for things than we did the waiter with no personality. We had called ahead and requested a surprise birthday dessert with a candle after dinner. We offered to bring candles and were told that wasn't necessary. Reminded them again at the front desk at check in. The waiter blew the surprise by laying spoons out then waited about 20 mins. to bring dessert- it came without a candle- no singing- nothing. It was an 80th birthday for my mom. It was handled very poorly. Even though the food was fabulous, we will think twice about going to Brix again next time we are in Napa for a weekend trip.

Kept waiting for more than half an hour past our reservation, with a rude hostess. The metal chairs(inside) were uncomfortable. The table configurations were strange, including sofa banquettes facing directly on our oversized table, which made conversation difficult. The food and wine were ok although very expensive.

The food was very good, but the service was excellent---Of course, the place was not crowded at this particular time so there was plenty of staff to pamper the guests. The team approach was very evident---all the employees seemed very polite to one another. I happened to leave my sweater there, called, it was found, went back next day, and the young desk attendant recognized me from having been there the day before. That is very good in this day and age. I particularly liked the new gardens!!!

We were given the choice of inside or outside sitting and chose the later which provided a wonderful sunset view of the hillside, vineyard and vegetable garden. The overhead heat lamps became necessary in the later part of the evening(9:00) as a slight chill blew across the valley. My Sonama lamb was excellent, prepared perfectly with a baked egg/potato mixture(excuse my lack of culinary knowledge)that was fabulous. The Swordfish was under cooked and needed to be returned to the kitchen. However upon representation it was perfect and very tastful. The manager made an gracious attempt to minimize the problem by stopping by and expressing his concern that the fish had initally not been properly cooked. We appreciated his candor.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 6/27/2008
We had been looking forward to Brix, but were a bit disappointed at the new remodeled restaurant. They have several small 2 person tables, where you both sit on one side. I suppose to be romantic, however, they are facing the end of longer tables so you are essentially overlooking a larger party less than a few feet away. Like being at the kids table. Not romantic. Wait staff was not attentive, just seemed to want to take an order and be done. Food was OK, Halibut dish was good, deep fried battered soft shell crab horrible. For a 2 top table, the table was too small for the oversized plates they serve the food on. We had to keep juggling dishes and wine glasses all night. Needing several adjustments to match the reputation they have.

The food was excellent, the service good, and the view/surroundings were beautiful. The music that was coming over the loudspeaker, however, didn't seem to fit the ambiance that the restaurant was going for. The music was more 80s bar scene, while the overall presentation was more formal. The wine list didn't have much in the moderate price range, it was pretty spendy. Nevertheless, it was a very nice dining experience.

Enjoyed the restaurant and new look. I ordered rack of lamb, the prep.was excellent, however, meat extremely fatty! Waiter noticed the considerable amount of fat I had cut off and pushed to the edge of my plate. We spoke about it, and he came by a little later to say he had told the "right" people about it. I'm then expecting at the least they might bring an additional rib or two, as I probably had no more than an ounce of actual meat left in the three pieces. How was it made right (at least in someone's mind)... husband's desert was comped!! Being a frequent diner at great restaurants, I was a bit surprised what was actually wrong wasn't fixed, but the evening was fun regardless and my husband's meal was fabulous.

Very disappointing experience. Service was slow, the entrees were poorly prepared. The risotto was actually a pilaf. The chicken was dry. I was a little skeptical reading previous reviews...however, the food/service/ambience was spectacular. The waiter, (from Delaware)was awesome! Service was attentive, but not over-bearing. The Kelleher cabernet, suggested by our steward, complemented the filet & lamb dishes we had remarkably. Food was cooked to perfection & was received "hot". Outdoor seating in their veranda, overlooking the mountains, captured the romantic essence of this place. Once again, great job & keep up the good work!!!

Our dinner service was good, but our bar service prior to dinner was not. We sat waiting to be offered a drink for 10 minutes while there were 2 bartenders and 3 servers within the bar vicinity. An acknowledgment of our presence would have been all that was required, but we had to finally insert ourselves into their business in order to be served. We did not feel welcomed nor did we feel that our overall service at the bar was friendly. Once we were seated for dinner, everything improved.

The food was outstanding. The service was spotty: slow, items forgotten, wine spilled. Desserts were complimentary as a good-will gesture, which we appreciated. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. It was fun watching the pastry chef make magic with her torch for the creme brulee. I had the strawberry/cherry sunday. Delicious! Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and personable. I loved my risotto. White sauces tend to become over powering the more you eat, but the sauce in the risotto was so delicate that I wanted more even though I was full. It was a memorable evening. The owner/Manager(?) came over to our table and asked us if everything was to our liking. That was very nice and appreciated.
