A word from Restaurant Toque!
21 years ago Toqué! opened featuring local produce: a showcase for Quebec's terroir and its suppliers. The ongoing contributions of these artisans is no less important today. We have them to thank for foie gras de canard or salicornia; lamb of heirloom vegetables; seafood or fine herbs. These tireless farmers, foragers and fishermen inspire Toqué!'s cuisine, on which they bestow tastes, textures and natural aromas and unparalleled freshness.

  • I quite enjoyed the food,

I quite enjoyed the food, however at $460 for 2 people (we had the chef's menue with the wine service, one upgraded) it was quite expensive. To be honest, it wasn't worth the cost. It would have been for a little more than 1/2 of that though. Maybe I'm just not used to spending $230 a person on dinner, but I can't see any dinner being worth that, that doesn't include a trip!

Exceptional experience. Tasting menu was superb. My wife had the wine pairings and the Chateau d'Yquem was one of the best wines we have ever had. Service was wonderful. I asked if the meat course could be pureed as I am recovering from throat cancer. I received a superb lobster course cut into small bits instead! That is beyond duty and into pure caring. We ended up in the kitchen with a tour! So we say thanks.

This was a spectacular experience - comfortable & very attractive upscale atmosphere where people are serious about enjoying outstanding food & wine - recommend casual-chic attire - visited the kitchen which is a chef's dream come true - even though occupied to capacity, service was always attentive & unrushed - could hear only the low background murmur of other guests & gentle music appropriate for pleasant ambience & easy digestion - creative, imaginative & varied menu beautifully presented - everything listed was so inviting, it was difficult to decide - therefore, ordered "Tasting Menu" of 7 courses with 5 wines - reasonably sized portions served & beautifully described by charming staff - amazing! Looking forward to a return visit...

very accommodating to her pescetarian (and my omnivorous) habits for the tasting menu; wine pairings were creative, unusual and fun ("clay" notes in a chardonnay?!); French-style service was, pleasantly, a little more friendly than traditional. Lots of seasonal ingredients (mid-spring means asparagus and fiddleheads).

  • We chose the 7 course offering
    ReneeVIP
    Dined on 5/17/2008
We chose the 7 course offering with wine pairing and fois gras.  The first two courses were timely and paired well.  Then it went downhill.  The fois gras came and although the fois gras and preparation was excellent, it was paired with a very heavy port. Not a good compliment and a classic pairing with a Sauternes would have been much better.  But then the service started to fall apart and we started to notice a lot of time between the courses.  So much so that we would finish our wine before receiving the dish it was supposed to be paired with.  At least 20 minute intervals between the wine being poured and receiving the food. And then it dragged on that way through desert to the point that all the good energy we started with was lost.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

A great meal. We went on a Saturday evening. We shared the tasting menu, which was fantastic. I could pick a nit or two with specific dishes, but only in a sentence like "that was delicious, but a little more xx might have made it even better." The staff was gracious, knowledgeable and efficient. The sommelier presented really interesting wines, one of which (an '88 Chardonnay with the Foie Gras) was the best food/wine pairing I've ever experienced. Not inexpensive (to be sure), but the experience was so involving that my hockey-fan girlfriend totally forgot there was a playoff game going on until we saw Habs fans walking home after the game. And that's saying something, believe me.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007VIP
    Dined on 4/25/2008
My last meal at Toque! was especially disappointing considering the fact that I had eaten there before and it had been one of the best meals I had ever had. This time though, the food was mediocre at best. I had the seven course tasting menu with the wine pairing, as I had had the previous time, but on this occasion, all emphasis was placed on presentation and as a result, had very little substance. The wines were forgettable at best, with one of the reds being particularly miserable. The service, which had previously been fantastic, was annoying and lethargic. The sole bright spot was the foie gras which was still delicious. In terms of price, it was twice as much as it should have cost and was one of the most overpriced meals of my life.

The chef combined very interesting flavours to make each dish unique and memorable. The portions were perfect; not too large or heavy but still filling. I recommend ordering wine by the bottle and not by the glass as they have a great wine menu, but limited selection by the glass. The staff was extremely professional and friendly. The restaurant design was modern but still warm and welcoming. While I was there, the restaurant accomodated a large group of people with ease. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates fine dining. I would not recommend this restaurant for children.

Very attractive place. Well served by his name first, and secondly, the food is delicious. Wines are I think, the top I've seen for a long time ago. The only negative point I think is the area (the ambiance which reminds me more of a "large plain neutral area" than a romantic little lover place. I'd rather to the "romantic little lover place" than the bigger plain area. But anyway, that night was worth the money :) Thanks!

This was such a disapointing experience. the food was luke warm, overly salty, service was not personal (functional yes, but certainly not warm and attentive). The wine was excellent, the presentation satisfactory, the desserts were good. High expectations are always a problem for "famous" restaurants. Toque! will not meet them. The food is just ok (especially when you consider this is a restaurant that is considered a foodie joint. It isn't). Ingredients were fresh, but nothing amazing was done to them...One more thing, the tasting menu will leave you hungry even after 7 courses -- so, think of a McQuarterpounder afterwards...

    OpenTable Diner Since 2004
    Dined on 9/14/2007
We went with the seven course tasting dinner and the wine pairing. The amuse bouche was a cold tomato soup that was so good, even my wife (since she has odd feelings about tomatoes) finished it. The first dish, served with a Tuscan white, was a ceviche made with scallops and apples. My wife felt the apple was a bit strong, but I felt the flavors complemented each other well. Next was a tuna tartare, served on an eggplant that had been deep fried and flattened, and had the look and texture of a fancy potato chip shaped like a grid. To our surprise, we both enjoyed it (I’m not a tuna fan, and my wife isn’t a raw fan), but the combination was good, especially with the French wine. The final seafood course was sea bass, which was very good.
