We arrived 15 minutes early for a 7:00 reservation. We attempted to get a drink a the bar, however were never able to gain the attention of the bar staff despite repeated attempts. At 6:50 I checked in again to make sure the hostess knew where we were - still unable to get a drink. 7:10 I checked again only to be told by another young lady that we'd already been seated according to their system... 7:20 seated. 7:30 our server arrived, very nice young lady, who took our drink orders. My wife's wine was poured within about 5 minutes and we placed our remaining food orders. My draft beer did not arrive for another 20 minutes, in the mean time our appetizer was delivered. 8:20, almost an hour after our order was placed, our entrees arrived...

    Dined on 2/11/2014
I do not recommend the Coq au Vin. It isn't a true Coq au Vin. It was very dry and when I asked for extra sauce, I was served some lukewarm "sauce" out of a packet. I left the rest of it, and was very disappointed as I expected more from a restaurant of this calibre. Kyle the sommelier was excellent and went out of his way to find a bottle of rose for us.

Unfortunately, we were late for a concert at the Pepsi center due to very slow service. We were seated at 5:50 and finished dinner at 8:20. It took 40 minutes to get our salads and another 40 minutes to get our entrees - 3 out of six were cold when they arrived. The kitchen seemed to be a disaster. The wait staff was as frustrated as we were. Management did make a concession on our bill. We won't go back before a game or concert.

The service was great - the ambience was cool/laid back/modern - the entrees were generally over cooked (Sole, CoqAuVin). Probably wouldn't go back for dinner - possibly for the bar scene.

Coohills is a very nice place with a terrific menu. The menu is not cutting edge but is very, very solid. The sommelier was very helpful in selecting an excellent wine that did not break the bank. I would suggest that a French speaker review the menu with the staff, as they are not able to pronounce all the words properly.

I'm afraid the reputation is a little bit ahead of itself. Decent place, with decent food. I would go again, but the food innovation is just ok. Had the pate appetizer, and it was fair at best. Duck confit was just OK. Service was surprisingly non chalant. Bar scene looks good.

Cons: wine list on an iPad, called a French restaurant but nothing about the menu or atmosphere supports this (no steak frites on the menu!) Prices are exorbitant for the quality and portion size, server forgot a drink order, bread that she had offered and the restaurant was dead on a Friday night. Our order: onion soubise ($10) for a cup's worth of onions with a tiny piece of tasteless bread covered in cheese. Parmesan crusted egg salad- delicious. Coq au Vin- potatoes were the best part, chicken was fatty and small amount. Strip steaks- okay, sliced into small pieces and the quality was not worth the price. Cobia- delicious with sauce on the side. Side of brussel sprouts- uncooked and poor taste.

I took a friend out to celebrate her recent academic and career achievements at Coohills on Friday night. The food was prepared to perfection. I was attracted to this restaurant for its emphasis on sustainability, I had no idea we were in for such a treat. I would definitely recommend this wonderful gem to anyone looking for a fine dining experience in LoDo.

This was my 2nd time to Coohill's and both times the reservation was made out of convenience due to its proximity to the Pepsi Center. When making my reservation, when arriving for my reservation and upon seating I was asked whether we were attending the Nuggets game that evening. All three times I answered yes, and yet this made no difference in whether our service & food were expedited, as we ended up signing the check after the game had begun. While the food was okay, the menu was limited and full of pretentious prices for the small portions offered. The service was spotty and our server was labored to answer even the most basic questions about dishes and wines. A good meal, but not as comfortable or as fulfilling as I would have liked.

The seating was not good for viewing or hearing a band. My seating request was not considered. The food was delicious but the portions should have been slightly larger. The waitress did not keep a record of our service needs. A Coarse was missed of our meal and coffee was not offered with desert. At the end of the meal, a check was presented with no exclamation of how it would be settled. I am not sure what I was charged or how my bill was paid.

The staff was kind to let us catch up with old friends at our leisure and the booth's high bck helped contain our conversation without bothering other diners. Great wine and food recommendations from Kyle and Roqeta. Since it was so cold we didn't have to give up our table so soon...we stayed for 3hours.

My partner and I went to Coohills for an anniversary dinner before a show and had a wonderful experience. We had the chef's tasting menu (stick with 5 courses - I couldn't imagine eating one bite more!) The courses were each delicious and a great balance of flavors. First time at Coohills and we went for my birthday dinner. We had a wonderful meal and could not be happier. Our waiter, Garrett, was a gem. We started with the cheese plate and the choices were great. For our entrees we had scallops and coq au vin and while the mashed potatoes were a bit salty, there were no other issues with the meal. Next time will lay off the fantastic bread to save room for more dessert as our bread pudding was wonderful, but we couldn't really enjoy it as we were too full.

It was a great meal and a great evening for sure. We very much enjoyed the tasting menu which featured some unusual but excellent wine pairings What made it especially memorable was running into pastry and pantry chefs Anika and Helena outside the restaurant as we were leaving. They were thrilled to hear that we enjoyed the beet salad (the favorite course for a couple in our our party) and desserts and answered our questions about the preparation. Their pride in the food, the restaurant, and excitement in sharing with us the preperation capped a great evening.

We had a really good lunch (special event as they aren't open for lunch) so decided to come back for dinner. The food is good - two of us gave it 5 stars, the others were more in the 3-4 range. Waitperson was friendly, knowledgeable. Received a terrific wine recommendation. Love the space and the location. Only complaint was timing. Our appetizers came out within a reasonable timeframe but our entrees came after we had been there 2 hours. Don't know if they just forgot about us or had some challenge as other tables seemed to be getting their meals. Our waitperson didn't stop by the table in the interim which was a little frustrating. We will try it again as it has a lot of good things going for it. Recommend giving it a try.

We were on our way to an Avs game and I checked with the Cool Hills since you list the dress code as elegant casual and we were in Hockey Jerseys, they said to come on. We did the 5 course wine pairing dinner. Everything was wonderful and the wine pairings were great. Our dinner lasted 4 hours, so not sure if that is normal or if we were just taking our time and enjoying the evening, but would not recommend the chef menu if you are on a tight time frame. I was surprised that our dinner lasted that long, as we were having a great time talking to staff, chefs, each other, etc. Next time, we decided we would just sit in the bar and doing a less formal meal as the bar area is really nice and quiet.

First of all watching the bartenders taste test a drink and decide it wasn't good enough to serve was a great start to the evening. The food appeared to go to the same rigorous testing because everything was outstanding. My only complaint would be that the Amuse Bouche was a little bit rushed it seemed like we were getting caught up with the rest of the diners. Definitely would like to come back again.
