A word from Olive & Ivy Restaurant & Marketplace
Dining under the shady trees on Olive and Ivy’s massive patio feels more like Southern France than southern Scottsdale. If you are looking for pomp and circumstance of quiet elegance, try the signature private-dining venue, the Stamp Room. If it’s night-life, we have you covered twice with the outdoor lounge and bar. You’ll enter your own little Mediterranean world the first moment you set foot in Olive & Ivy.

For some, the day simply doesn’t start unless it starts at The Marketplace at Olive & Ivy. Scents of fresh-baked muffins, croissants, and dark rich espresso lure passersby in from the quiet sidewalk. They read the paper. They sip squeezed orange juice. They toast the morning. Help yourself start every day the right way at the Marketplace.

5 of us 40-something college girlfriends, enjoying an annual weekend trip, really enjoyed the delicious food, energetic ambiance, great wine selection and overall dining experience at Olive and Ivy! We all come from "foodie" parts of the country (San Francisco, LA and Austin) and we all thought very highly of our experience at this restaurant. We loved the fresh and innovative food preparations!

Not an expansive menu .... choices are limited but lean toward Mediterranean. Pleasant ambience but DJ music that night not really appropriate for the dinner hour. I ordered a Dubonnet but it was not available. The aperitifs were not even on the drinks list so I settled for a Campari and soda. The server was most accommodating and seemed embarrassed that the available aperitifs were rather limited. Especially since aperitif imbibing is customary in those European countries surrounding the Med. sea. Food was tasty, especially the chicken scallopini and it was also a generous portion. We ordered the stuffed dates for an appetizer and they were delicious. Would return again and perhaps enjoy the patio the next time.

My wife and I made our first visit to the restaurant during AZ restaurant week. It was a superior dining experience. The food was very notable; from the salad and flatbread (both excellent) to our main course, the food was fresh, and spiced with unique flavors. The staff is pleasant and helpful and also entertaining. We considered our visit a high level dining experience.

Had dinner during restaurant week and everything was perfect. The bacon and date appetizer had a great balance of salt, spice and sweet. The scallops with creamy corn polenta were seared perfectly and the bing cherry crisp was a great balance of tart and sweet with a firm but not heavy crumble. I would have this meal there again as soon as next week.

  • Did Not Expect Average

I've eaten here before and had a good experience, today was just average and even below average in service. We are two friends eating locally - wanting a nice lunch/brunch before a matinee. We were seated outside because fall is finally in the air, but our server was slow to catch on that we had a time frame in mind. Not a hurried one, we had an hour and a half, but at the rate he was moving, we might have been hurried at the end. The food was decent, the wine a good pairing, but really nothing to rave about for the price.

  • Our favorite Old Scottsdale Find
    DonnaFiedler
    Dined on 9/20/2014
We did a bunch of research on top-rated restaurants in Old Scottsdale before making a series of reservations. Among the 5 restaurants that we tried, Olive and Ivy was our favorite! It had a wonderful atmosphere - whether dining indoors or out. The food was absolutely fantastic - the peanut butter pudding with chocolate granache and cinnamon/peanut butter cookie is a MUST! The server and service was outstanding and the seating was such that you felt you had some privacy and could enjoy your "space", while taking in a wonderful view of the water (which there is not much of in AZ). Lovely place - great feel!!

Went for Saturday brunch with my husband and daughter. Our server was super accommodating, including helping order something off the normal "lunch" menu that's not typically served during brunch. He was very sweet with our four-year-old, as well. The food is always consistently amazing (it's why we always come back!) and today was no exception. Highly recommend their cinnamon rolls- big enough to share and very reasonably priced. Only drawback was the table of women next to us who got loud after having a few too many mimosas. Otherwise, we had a great meal and can't wait to go back!

Our waiter could have been more attentive...did not come back to check for additional requests...finally brought the check having never asked if we would like to see the dessert menu...then brought one menu for the two of us... I will be back...but I will hope for a different waiter...this one got only 15% tip instead of my usual 20%.

the waiter came over right away, however after saying we needed a minute to look at the menu, he didn't come back for about 20+ minutes. we had no wine, no bread, just water, the whole time we waited, and he walked passed multiple times. once we ordered, the food and wine came out quickly, but the server needs to work on his attentiveness a bit

Food was excellent. Started with the Kale salad, which was delicious. Sea bass for the main course was also outstanding. Dessert selections were not to my taste so we didn't partake. Only downside, noise level inside was way too high. Music was very loud, had to strain to hear conversation across the table. Would definitely request outdoor seating next time to cut down on the noise.

We had a family birthday celebration there (4 people only) on a Wednesday evening. We were surprised at how packed and busy it was. The noise level was a challenge as we could barely hear ourselves. So with that being said I think we would only come back for lunch or brunch. The service was excellent. The food was good.

I've been to Olive & Ivy many times for lunch and have always enjoyed the salads and flatbreads. This time I went for dinner and was a bit disappointed. Very few meat and fish entrees. I ordered the Sea Bass but had to send it back to be cooked. My friend said her scallops weren't cooked well enough either. Perhaps I will just stick to lunch there.

We've eaten here before, but this was our first time for brunch. As always, the food is incredible and tastes scratch-made. Between my husband, daughter, and I- we shared one of the huge cinnamon rolls. It was warm, gooey and fabulous. We were also pleased that they still serve the fresh pesto and foccacia during brunch as well! Our server was a bit hard to track down, but it was clear that she was just very busy with the Sunday brunch rush. We were all stuffed when we left and still had extra food wrapped up to go.

Had dinner in the outside area with my husband. The food is incredible- especially the yummy pesto spread they serve with the bread! Our server was very attentive and even helped my husband customize his order when he was stuck deciding between two entrees. She also made sure we always had full water glasses (a must when it's still so hot out). There was a DJ playing music, but it was MUCH quieter than it has been in the past- so glad the restaurant took that feedback! Overall, wonderful and romantic meal!

I have had better experiences at this restaurant. My sister and I went for dinner Friday night at 7:00 pm. We were disappointed about two things. The waitress quickly took our order-my sister had an entree salad and I ordered a pasta dish. No sooner had she delivered our wine, our entrees arrived! Food was good, but we felt far too rushed. Second issue, ambiance is nice but VERY noisy at prime time dining time. I have been in and enjoyed a quiet meal when the place is not packed, but when it is full, as it was last Friday night at about 7:00 pm, we felt we had to shout to hear each other, and had no time to enjoy the experience of dining out together. As a result, she and I vowed not to go back for dinner.
