A word from Palettes at the Denver Art Museum
One of the nation’s first chef-driven museum restaurant concepts when it opened in 1997, Palettes Contemporary Cuisine at the Denver Art Museum is still one of the most striking, featuring original art and a sleek, modern design, with floor-to-ceiling views of the adjacent nationally-admired Hamilton building.

Boasting modern American cuisine with a global palette of fresh, flavorful and dynamic ingredients, Palettes serves weekday lunch, as well as dinner on Fridays, and a recently-added champagne weekend brunch. For unforgettable private events, Kevin Taylor Catering is also the exclusive caterer of the Denver Art Museum and its variety of remarkable spaces.

  • The food at Palettes is fabulous.

The food at Palettes is fabulous. One of my favorites is the Tuna Tartare, and the gourmet Mac n Cheese is also phenomenal. The prix fixe menu is a stellar deal, and the desserts are unbeatable. The bread & butter pudding was outstanding, a favorite with my group a few days ago. Combine with a trip to see an exhibit at the museum for a special afternoon or evening.

Palettes is one of my top choices for hosting business lunches. The service was excellent and is always excellent. The food is always memorable. Thank you for being a great place to entertain and to make an excellent impression.

  • The cobb salad was not dressed
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 3/19/2008
The cobb salad was not dressed with sufficient dressing nor did the restaurant offer a dressing choice. The staff seemed incredulous that my friend and I wanted a dressing other than a whisper of a vinagrette. I had to ask for more dressing after struggling through a very dry salad. We ordered cocktails that were very slow in arriving; they did not arrive until the salad was served. The desserts were adequate, but not memorable. The service was inattentive particularly for a fine dining restaurant. It seemed that we were always having to flag down a server. My guest was from out-of-town and I was disappointed that it was not a better experience.

  • Good service, we were allowed

Good service, we were allowed to enjoy each others company without needless interruptions. We planned on just a light lunch prior to our visit to the museum and we were not disappointed. The food was well prepared and presented. We will return.

Our server was a delight, however it took way too long to get our food, we were there over 2 hours. Two people at our table had the mac & cheese, both said it needed a lot more cheese, the chicken sandwich I had was just not worth 2 hours of my time. I wish the decor of Palettes was prettier, kind of felt like I was in a cafeteria, they should close up all those windows and decorate like crazy with art!

  • The empty plates of of some
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006
    Dined on 3/15/2008
The empty plates of of some of the people in our party were cleared away before everyone finished. It is sometimes embarrassing for seniors to have to be the only one still slowly eating when everyone else is done. The hostess could have been nicer when we asked if we needed to be seated right away or if we could finish our art museum tour. I ordered Mussels and got Calamari. The mistake was corrected, but my food then arrived late compared to others in my party.

Palettes has expanded and the big airy room is a great place to dine before or after viewing the DAM. With the sculptures outside, the window provides a fun viewing of folks enjoying downtown. The food is very good, pretty and very palatable. The wait staff is friendly.
