The wine selection here was amazing and the flavors of the food surpassed my expectations!!! I had the shrimp ravioli and I absolutely loved every bite. It was completely different. The caprese salad was also amazing and VERY FRESH. I was impressed they use local farms. I was disappointed how long it took to get my second glass of wine and also the fact that the smoking outdoor section was interfering with my dinner. :(

Upon walking into Prato, the atmosphere is fully set for a perfect dining experience. The menu speaks well of a chef that is committed to the community and foodies. From the service, to the food, to the wine list and over all service....Prato is definitely making its mark on Park Ave. highly recommend.

We had reservations, but still waited for 30 minutes for our table. There is not a good place to wait either. Our waiter was less than attentive - we had to ask for everything - drinks, appetizers, drink refills - it became so annoying. We gave up trying to ask questions about the menu - he had to hurry off each time we started a question. The noise level was terribly frustrating. We sat at a booth and had to yell across the table. It was not an enjoyable evening at Prato.

The food and service were good, nothing outstanding. It could be outstanding if they ensured that their food was hot and served on hot plates. All plates were room temperature at best. Portions could be a little bigger for a better value. Service needs to be polished as well as server knowledge. When you ask a food related question you would like an appropriate answer. We may try it again.

Tried Prato for an early dinner on NYE (HNY), prior to heading to a party. Was our first visit. The decor was great. Food was very good. Enjoyed the homemade pastas and our friends had the hangar steak and enjoyed it. Did not think the meatballs were a big deal. Like the endive caesar, and loved the polenta with marscapone and sage-though it was a bit runny, the flavor was good. Had a nice sangiovese that was fairly priced. We'll be back to try it again. Also, our server - Alan, was a fun guy.

First time local diners for dinner. Enjoyed the "hopping" atmosphere. While the food was very good, my husband found it quite salty, even with it being italian fare. We brought this to our servers attention and were told the foods were finished with additional salt, and we could request to "hold the salt" next time we dined there. Everything we sampled from pasta, pizza, and salad was quite good. Great martinis, too. We look forward to returning.

Food was delectable and very creative. Although portions smaller than expected, the fresh ingredients for each of our diners were outstanding and tasty. Make sure to try the house salad, pizza, and rigatoni with duck. Floors are a bit uneven for the tables, but we adjusted them. Noise level very energetic. Reservations recommended. We will return!

Generally quite good. Ribs were spectacular. Pasta and Pizzas are well done, albeit too expensive for what they are. Wine list is managable but interesting and well suited to various price points. The scene is tough to beat, and would have to be considered the main draw here.

This was our first visit to Pratos--very good... except for the noise. We were with another couple for an anniversary dinner and we literally could not hear 50% of what they were saying (in loud voices) across our table. We were in a booth not far from the bar, but the bar dominates the restaurant and I am wondering if there is any where dinner conversation can take place? This is a hopping place and obviously very popular with the bar crowd---seems like the place to be among professionals. We really liked the unique menu. However, our waiter encouraged us to 'over order' even though we asked him if ordering appetizer, pizza, 2 pastas plus entrees would be too much ---he assured us portions were modest. We took home huge bag of food.

We tried Prato for brunch. The meal was quite expensive and that was why I've given Prato an over all "good" instead of "very good." I ordered a pizza margarita. The pizza was good but not memorable and was too expensive ($15). It was dry on top and could have used a little more tomato sauce or cheese. The crust was too well cooked all the way through. Note: I lived in Italy for several years and am used to using knife/fork with pizza. With Prato's pizza, I couldn't cut the pizza with the knife and had to eat it out of hand. My spouse's pasta with duck bolognese was good. I would rather order a pasta or try one of the meats next time.

It is a beautiful space - food was fine - small portions. The waitress was not very attentive - felt like it was because we were only ordering salads and no wine at lunch time. I would go back for a glass of wine with a friend at the bar. My friend's review of the place was spot on. More of a place to be seen than for good food at their prices. I find this to be the case of most restaurants except for Bosphorus on Park Ave. Food quality is not on par with the cost.

The restaurant is rustic and vibrant with an Italian pub feel. Although casual, the servers are knowledgable and attentive. I don't know where to begin with the food. I had an incredible culinary experience from start to finish. Each and every dish I had was delicious and interesting...and I tried 10 menu items!!! If you like being in the thick of it, sit near the bar. If you enjoy a more quiet, romantic experience, ask for a table/booth against the wall. If you are adventurous, do as I did and sit at the chef's table and participate in a tasting menu. I had a wonderful dining experience!! My server, Amanda, was amazing and I thank her! I will definitely return to Prato!

This is just an over-crowded bar with some food. The buildout rendered the walkways so narrow that between a patron at the bar and the seating tables, there is so little room that your watier must lean over your table! The menu is very limited and they accept little to no substitutions, additions, or even deletions. I'd go to Armando's over this place every time.

If you are looking for a quiet, rustic environment to enjoy large portions of Italian comfort food in a fine dining atmosphere, this isn't your place. What Prato is, however, is an attractive venue with a vibrant bar scene, a lovely list of Italian wines in both white and red (many available by the glass) and a refreshing menu, particularly the unique fresh pasta dishes. The portions are small compared to many diners' standards, but if you are trying to lead a healthy lifestyle, rational portions such as those found here are a welcome change. My husband and I had an enjoyable meal and will definitely go back.

Amazing food. After reading reviews I was skeptical. Not sure that they even ate at the same place. Prato is rustic, warm and comfortable. The service was on point and the food exceeded all expectations. We had the meatballs, gnocchi and widowmaker pizza. The portions were more than adequate as the food is rich and bursting with flavor. It was so well seasoned that I did not use salt. For me that is unheard of. I highly recommend this place. Make a reservation and request a booth for the most relaxation. Clint was a fabulous server. He even offered to split a glass of wine for us.

The food at this restaurant was excellent! It was fresh and very tasty. Unfortunately, our service was not that great. While our waiter did promptly take our order for drinks and food, he was reluctant to check back with us often enough and we had to track him down for our bill. The biggest disappointment was the seating; despite a reservation, we were given a table in the bar area near the front, and by the end of our meal we had people standing at the bar hitting our table. One guys behind was actually protruding over our table - not too appetizing or comfortable. The food is worth the effort, but I will specify a booth if I eat there again.

  • Prato seems to have an identity
    JoannmVIP
    Dined on 12/2/2011
Prato seems to have an identity crisis ... is it a bar or a restaurant? The huge bar takes up most of the long space. They have crammed tables down between the bar and the small booths (thank goodness I convinced them to give us that booth because people in the uncomfortable chairs at the tables were really crunched). If a waiter is coming down the aisle, there is no room for a patron to walk. Sort of like an airplane aisle. Food was OK, not over the top good. The pork was excellent but smothered in some sort of wheat which was just not that needed. The vegetables with it were excellent but there was very little of that. More vegetable and less wheat would have been better. At 7:00 bar was packed. Go for lunch or eat or eat outside.

new restaurant to Park Avenue from the owners of Luma. Great food and atmosphere built on an home town italian flare. We ate inside and had a sampling of quite a few different dishes. The Tuna appetizer was awesome and believe it or not the chicken wings were pretty darn good also. The restaurants design is beautiful but the design of the bar is not extremely functional. The crowd at the bar was about 3 people deep and as a result we had a constant stream of "body parts" in our faces while trying to eat. Shannon, our server, did a great job despite the challenges of the crowds - she was extremely apologetic about continued delays with getting back to our table (as a result of the crowds) as well as for the "body parts" in our faces.

I have been wanting to try Prato since I heard it was opening and it did not disappoint! It was amazing...great food and ambiance. We tried 5 dishes and split them and they were all delicious. My favorite was the Widow Maker pizza and the home made pasta dishes. The Hangar Steak over Polenta was incredible, as well. Prato did a great job in decorating...I felt like I was in a rustic, organic Italian restaurant. Best restaurant on Park Avenue!
